I did the same thing afew years back with a Volvo A40D. Was on M25 job and reversing up mega steep batter tipping topsoil to the D6 dozer. Me on volvo and another lad on Cat 740. 740 couldn't even get halfway up with diffs in and volvo 40 would get to the top of batter everytime! Savage yokes the volvo and it was major fun coming back down the slope once I'd tipped it!!!!
No they don’t - dickie seat is a joke , no fridge and no where to it any drinks etc - Volvo very poor for the operator , cat much better in that regard
CAT has always been chasing VOLVO as far as ADT,s go..I started working for a Volvo dealer in the early 90s and VOLVO was light years ahead of the competition in those days.. The other manufacturers have really played catch up in the past 5 - 7 years...
Yes, I would rather be in a Volvo too.7-12's no breaks no lunch no holidays and Im talkin over 100 loads everyday wide open ! Sound like the Job I was working on almost 5 years. I run Cat 385L Excatavtor loading 4 offroad trucks 100 loads each in 12 hr shift. On my (DAYOFF) I run Cat D-11R with ripper. But Aug./Sept.BIG CUT BACKS I got Layoff along with 200+ other workers!!!! They are still layoff people not good.I'm in Daytona Beach,FL. BIKETOBERFEST 2013 ~ Screw work,Let's ride....Thanks4com
@hitower9 Thanks for the comment .The cats are alright .I try to get the driver togo all the way to the top so I don't have to push it up there with the bulldozer. They call me lazy.I say work smarter not harder !!!!!
On one project on the steese highway here in Fairbanks Alaska. Me and a couple buddies ran 740 ejectors for almost 5 months straight. 7-12's no breaks no lunch no holidays and Im talkin over 100 loads everyday wide open brother. Towards the end of that project I was almost praying my 740 would break down but it never did. Runnin wide open like that in Volvos Im prayin for something not to break. I mean don't get me wrong I would rather be in a Volvo especially if the conditions are adverse.
Take a look at the Deere 400D (known as Bell overseas), it's what I would choose. They are very popular around here, you rarely see a Volvo or Cat ADT's. There are very good dealers for all three here locally but the 400D is the big seller.
I'm a volvo fan for the swivel trucks but on my job we have 2 cat's and several volvo's and the cat's out pull the volvo's and the reason is that you can tweek the trucks to run better (turning up the fuel). I run a cat 777B rock truck myself right now. You look like flatlanders. The haul raod we haul on is any where from 16% grade to 27% or better. Come here to Va. and Ky. where the fun is!!!!!
I have seen those too. I mostly see Cat. Volvo and JD ADTs that big I don't see all that often. Being a Deere guy too, I do like them. But it really depends on your dealer. So for me, I guess I would have to go with a Cat or a Deere.
I have owned a a40d 2002 model for about 2 years and today I just bought a used 740 2008 model. I will be comparing next week. Both units are approx 10000 hours. I will post my opinion in a few days
We have 25 new cat 740 25 more coming. I like the new cat truck. The ones in the video suck always gettin stuck no AC.We had about 30 new Volvo last year they stay broke down...Thanks viewing & comment....
From a young operator that has spent years in rock trucks. Volvos are slightly better but if you run both for month after month of 7-12's or hotseating 24 hour shifts, the Volvos will have issues and the cats can take the punishment.
I would like to say in all the ADT's, the volvo 6x6 differential system have ability and pawer than the cat, but if we tolk about the excavators ,dozers, graders, loaders then cat is the strong one . becuase am now a trainer on volvo ADT at kascco zambia and i have operate before
yes it did and I drove it the first day it was there That's how the peckerhead got on the screen..... January 2013 we started getting all new Cats and Volvo's in. The number are up to #207.....
@donboy2000 how do you figure that! the volblow is on level ground when it dumps the cat is at a 35* lets be fare here. not to mention its and older cat
we had 5 volvos 3 a25c 2001s ,2 a30e 3 cats 730, and 2, 725 and if any one here say volvo are no good stop them cats fall apart bushins in the cab air con would stop working air seat would stop.no air lines to pump wheels if they get sort i had alot of long nights with silly prob list goses on and cat were out and they aint cheep only probs we got with volvos were transmission in two of the a25c starters one got water pump and 1 got a new steering ram all had 18,000 hours+ cat digger there good
@O7ROADKING Mate at the end of the the day cat articulated dumptrucks are buckets of shit. They are an afterthought by caterpillar to break into a niche dominated by volvo. .
At time the video was taken the Volvo trucks had more power, better traction. These off road trucks are no long in use ! We have new Cats & Volvo trucks ! CAT is # 1 Now ! Volvo is junk! I have drove the new Volvo & Cats i like the CATERPILLAR 740 B OFF ROAD TRUCKS ! I run Caterpillar Bulldozers D-6 D-7 D-8 D-9 D-11.Only drive off roads if it is need. Also run Caterpillar Excavator 345-D 349 385 ! Will be posting more equipment videos new Cat off roads, excavator & Cat bulldozer! Thanks 4 comm.
What you see here is nothing exceptional....except they should be dumping over the edge, not halfway down. I favour the Volvo. Cats were always more primitive and lacking power.

Sean Doherty I’ve used Volvo and cat adt’s. I’d take the Volvo any day. The cat was way too slow and underpowered I thought
Volvo is such a better truck. They actually listen to operators so they get first hand input on how to make it better, and they listen.
No they don’t - dickie seat is a joke , no fridge and no where to it any drinks etc - Volvo very poor for the operator , cat much better in that regard
You are right Catanddeer ,volvo ADTs is the best when it cames to climbing, working in the mud and smooth and flexibility operation
CAT has always been chasing VOLVO as far as ADT,s go..I started working for a Volvo dealer in the early 90s and VOLVO was light years ahead of the competition in those days.. The other manufacturers have really played catch up in the past 5 - 7 years...
I like Volvo. Mainly coz it was my dads favourite Estate car back in the day.
The new Cat wagons are # 1 Thanks for viewing & comment. More Cat wagons videos coming soon.........
No contest. Volvo wins everytime.
+David Ellis Everytime !
No doubt, Volvo makes the best ADT's by a long shot.
Not always th-cam.com/video/XGOlTuzXCeY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nznzEjj_kNYNorEy

@43kingfan The great Yellow anchor !

Volvo POWER :-D
24 hour shift we have issues with both Cats & Volvos,But they are taking a punishment. Thanks for the comment....

I'm yet to see a 400D, but I have seen some 35, and 20 ton models. I'm sure when the day is done, each would get the job done!
740s ain’t got no ass!! They get stuck in everything , mud , Ash, whatever
I have seen those too. I mostly see Cat. Volvo and JD ADTs that big I don't see all that often. Being a Deere guy too, I do like them. But it really depends on your dealer. So for me, I guess I would have to go with a Cat or a Deere.
agree!
You are just savage rebels lol

volvo any day i wud even do wit a volvo A20
Volvo is da shit!
@PeterbiltEXHD It's a job ! But we try to make it a proveing ground for Cat's virses Volvo's
From a young operator that has spent years in rock trucks. Volvos are slightly better but if you run both for month after month of 7-12's or hotseating 24 hour shifts, the Volvos will have issues and the cats can take the punishment.
Better comfort for the operator in the cats
I would like to say in all the ADT's, the volvo 6x6 differential system have ability and pawer than the cat, but if we tolk about the excavators ,dozers, graders, loaders then cat is the strong one . becuase am now a trainer on volvo ADT at kascco zambia and i have operate before
As I said, nothing can beat volvo
yes it did and I drove it the first day it was there That's how the peckerhead got on the screen..... January 2013 we started getting all new Cats and Volvo's in. The number are up to #207.....
thats just haul trucks, one of the quarrys we go to has cat loaders down at the face because theyre harder and volvo's on the top for loading trucks
does hitaci also build these types of haul trucs
👍
I would have to say for ADTs, the Volvo is the best. Caterpillar is for dozers!

Volvo makes a nice truck but i always drive a CAT when i can.
Easy ! Bunch of rookie driver
ejector beds are better for this type of application anyway....
@donboy2000 Yea it don't take much to KILL a CAT !!! VOLVO is # 1 Thanks for the comment .... I
@KiwiRobbie73 Nah
how do u get a job like this with no exp
Volvo
volvo ADT is much better than any ADT
its heavy duty
assis sp brasil
The Cat is no match for the Volvo articulated hauler.
I beg to differ on the cat being smoother ride. Volvo are much smoother where are you guys running on pavement! LOL!
once again Volvo kills the cat
@O7ROADKING Mate at the end of the the day cat articulated dumptrucks are buckets of shit. They are an afterthought by caterpillar to break into a niche dominated by volvo. .
i bet you dont like getting up for work if your driving one of them who you working for mate
off road? These are ALWAYS off road
Volvo is for farmers
@supersniperuk same as that i drive a cat and they crap loll
volvo beats cat any day ladies
volvo cant be beat but cats aint a bad ride terex trucks dont even go there be here all night with bad points lol
The old terex with the Detroit diesel 375 bhp could not be stopped , makes the new Volvo g series seem like an asthmatic snail.
@hag1970 stuck on a terex at mo arrrrrrrh heaps pf shit
A Caterpillar é bem forte, precisa mais de rapidez 😟. pq a Caterpillar é muito merda nos hidráulicos
Never once seen a CAT out perform a Volvo. Theyre terrible!!!!
At time the video was taken the Volvo trucks had more power, better traction. These off road trucks are no long in use ! We have new Cats & Volvo trucks ! CAT is # 1 Now ! Volvo is junk!
