Gabe Perreault is looking like one of the BEST picks from the 2023 Draft! What are YOUR thoughts on Perreault's development? How good do YOU see him being with NYR? And where would YOU pick him in a re-draft today? Let me know!! #GravGang #RoadTo75kSUBS
Why does ur Chanel get swarmed by porn bots but dub video finally someone giving Gabe some respect
Rangers have needed a goal scorer for a long time. He might be the guy who can grow with Othmann and be a bad ass tandem
He looks like more of a setup guy, but can score as well. Like you said him and Othmann could be a nice line. We do need a stud center though McConnell-Barker is looking better and better for a 3rd round pick.
I still can't believe Guerin chose Charlie Stramel over Perreault. He was way too drunk to make this selection.
I love this comment
thoughts on quentin musty?? he's absolutely dominating the O and he was a late 1st similar to Perrault
Cant wait to see Musty and Smith in teal. A lot of hope for our future!
I was hoping Perrault would fall to the Sharks but NYR nabbed him right before. Musty looks like he’s going to be a beast. Not a bad consolation pick.
@scottstenlund433 I think with Perrault he fell because he’s not exactly elite at one particular thing. With Will Smith you could see the playmaking and vision, with Leonard it was the power forward game, with Perrault…he’s good at a lot of things and has a very high IQ. Reminds me of Pavelski…nothing flashy, not a great skater, not exactly an elite sniper, he just WINS and knows where to be to score goals. I think Perrault is going to be the same…the kid does whatever it takes to win.
Losing to the devils was Lowkey a blessing in disguise if you think about it. We wouldn’t of had that first round pick if we beat them
Well we still had a first round pick but you’re right we wouldn’t have been at 23. Not sure how far Perrault was falling. Obviously teams regret it and in a redraft he would definitely be in top 15
And still would have had Gallant
He has great vision at this point, imagine as he matures more.
@@joetamburello6292 top 10 imo rn
Yeah no@@criddlexd
Quinnipiac student here, its pronounced QUINN-IH-PEE-ACH but say it altogether and fast
QuinnehPEEack
@@whlewis9164 exactly
Will never understand why Billy Guerin passed on him
Cause a bunch of sub 5'10 guys won't win you a cup. Not saying Stramel was a marvelous pick but Wilds struggled to have success and size is a big factor in that.
I understand his size 'limitations', but skill was superior to Stramel, and worst case, you're left with better trade fodder for when the Wild are primed for a 2026 run.
@@kickedoffthetourHeidt will fill that role … probably better than Perreault…
@@Sadvibes668 Heidt, while an amazing pick was in the 2nd rd. Our 1st rd pick was completely wasted. It looked bad draft day and somehow has managed to get worse.
saw him play in umass the other night and he looked so damn good
He's going to prove that many scouts were wrong about not picking him earlier.
Every year (and I mean every year), someone with off the charts hockey IQ and elite compete attributes ends up sliding in the draft because of their smaller size or their slightly weirder/weaker skating. I guess that for scouts, It's very easy to fall in love with 6'2''+ physical defensemen that are only good without the puck and nhl 3rd line center with grit.
Look no further than Adam Fox being a 3rd round pick. Lacking in physical tools so much that I think most scouts probably didn't believe he'd be able to play his style/game in the NHL the way he did in college, I think nobody believed it until it was just happening.
It was so strange to me how Smith and Leonard were coveted prospects and Perrault…who broke the single season scoring record for USA…was considered a late round pick.
Everyone keeps harping on Perrault being carried by Smith and Leonard...yet year after year, he outproduces both of them
In all fairness, this is the first year he’s been noticeably the best. I could see how people were saying he was carried but he’s taken a huge step. Could’ve gone top 5/7 in hindsight.
This is just a misunderstanding of what NHL teams are looking at.
I remember being confuse why nobody was selecting him
His skating
That is the easiest improvement for any hockey player. You can't teach an gifted goal scorer how to score, but you can teach em how to lace up the stakes and move with the ice.@@robertsquared2916
@@robertsquared2916 His skating and strength which are/were related.
Great Video, as usual, Nathan. I'm glad that you are doing this (I know that in addition to The Dallas Stars, you're A Rangers Fan - we're alike, except for the fact The Chicago Blackhawks & The Rangers are My Favorite Teams). I think, unless some other thing happens, he'll be Great. I don't follow Draft Picks but for The Well-Known Ones, as announced. Hopefully, if it happens The Seattle Kraken & Shane Wright go their separate ways, Brendan Othmann & he can reunite & along with Gabe Perrault, will be Rangers Youth for The Future. Let me know what you think.
BC has a stacked team which elevates all their numbers.
He also broke auston matthews goal record and jack hughes point record on the NTDP before he even touched college hockey
He literally said that, watch the video lol
this is why you hold on to your first round picks. never know when a star falls into your lap
Thoughts on Easton Cowan? He has a 24 game point streak in the OHL, and the leafs were flamed for picking him
Invisible in world juniors against the best, not good enough
that entire Canada team besides Celebrini was invisble@@justinwillness3162
Gabe Perrault and Will Smith have more points per game than Macklin Celebrini this season.
They are older though too. That's something to keep in mind.
@@Obrim34 Cutter Gauthier is older than all them and has the fewest points so what does that say about him?
@@tacocruiser4238 Gauthier is a different kind of player tho
@@Mcbikey24 LOL this debate is going nowhere. You just shifted the goal posts and broke your own rules.
@tacocruiser4238 did you think you were replying to me? That was a different user... anyway all I'm saying is they are older and more mature. The fact that Celebrini can keep up points wise with these other players is awesome despite the fact they are more mature and could potentially be stronger.
Why is this channel spammed by porn bots?
What
Maybe in 3-4 seasons it’ll translate but for now I will reserve judgment.
That's my take on it too.
and the stars traded this pick for nils
I think im the first real person commenting?
Your comment are always so entertaining! Keep sharing your worldview. Thank you so much for your hard work! I like everything! Lol!
I believe gabe will have a good career, but he is on the best line in college hockey. I’d like to see him off that line before I consider him biggest steal of the draft.
I’m saying this as I believe Leonard will be the franchise guy for the caps. Take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I'd like to see Leonard off that line before I consider him a franchise guy for the caps.
@@JC_2311exactly... can flip the script on all of them... Maybe Leonard is getting "carried" or Smith? Fact is that they are all skilled as hell and its Hard to know... but Perreault does actually stand out more and more the more i see them play...
his hockey IQ is off the charts.
I am hopeful...But I remember the Kakko hype [I believe you suggested you would select him over Hughes] and what a BUST he is!!
Hes a small kid he better put on 25 pounds of muscle
His dad was an offensive dynamo in junior.
Ao did his brother but struggling in the AHL
Watched him play 2 nights ago. He’s good.
Quinnipiac is pronounced Quinn a pee ack
I hope Drury isn’t dum enough to trade him and our #1 for Vantrano and Henrique!!
Even Drury isn't that dumb.
His size is questionable
Nah, Will Smith better.
His dad was pretty good.
the issue I have with leonard, perreault and smith is that we won't know what they really have in them until they turn pro. Early results are promising but I'm reserving judgement until they start playing with different line mates.
Leonard is so well rounded he shouldn’t have any problems translating to the big league, nor playing with different teammates. Could take Smith and Perreault bit more time tho adjusting
Their chemistry alone generates a ton of offense. Leonard seems to have a very transferable game to the NHL. Smith also seems very polished and decisive. He’ll need to be on a line with other high hockey IQ players in SJ…and knowing Quinn, he’ll probably skate him with 3rd line grinders.
Perrault scores a ton of points, but he seems to dust the puck off the most of the 3. He’ll do a toe drag between the legs on a 2-on-1 when he doesn’t need to. But he’s looking like the next Joe Pavelski…
You could say that with almost every single player ever drafted.
@@JC_2311 they've been on the same line together since U-17s
@@michaelrobnak3102 Many top prospects play on the same line their draft and D-1 year. Of course it's rarer for that to continue their D+1 year (especially for US prospects) but they all play with top talent wherever they go. That will continue into pro hockey. So, what are we trying to infer here? That they can only each play with two other specific individuals?!? Nah, talent is talent. Anybody whose watched all their shifts at BC can have a fuller grasp on each of their positives and negatives. Where the pitfalls could be moving forward for each of them. If they fail at the next level it'll be a combo of the positives not translating and shortcomings exposed, like all other top prospects. Not because Smith had to play with Musty/Eklund, Leonard with Miro/Hendrix, Perreault with Othmann/Laf etc. Only the ignorant on scouting/development are saying "Ermergerd! All three are franchise players!" because of their high point totals.
For the topic of this video. A steal? Well, to me a steal would be 1) player performing better than expected for their draft slot, 2) outperforming those chosen 5-10 spots ahead of him. Historically, for F drafted in 20-25, you're looking at 50 pts/season avg as a successful pick with only a very few producing at/near a ppg level (Ex. Pasternak, Giroux).
Who can tell how good of a pick he will be until he plays in the NHL?
Exactly...Kakko and Lafreniere were highly touted, both have disappointed. Laffy playing much better this year but not #1 pick good. Both are still very young, but I think they are what they are. Which is replaceable.
@@roopan1968 Laffy seems to get better each game and will be a star if he'd of buried some of the many chances he had he would have been in the mix for 40 goals he had so many high danger scoring chances that were so close to being goals.
He is lazy!
Hope so
I know your story's about Perreault, but Graf is having a nice season at Quinnipiac, again. I mean as a top scorer for the defending Champ from last year, a small university like Quinnipiac, way to go. Between you and me, go Quinnipiac, knock out some more first round picks, just like last year.
Rangers have a good team for a long time. If McDavid doesn't win with Edmonton, 2026 is the year Panarin and Trouba's contracts come off the books, and knowing them, they'll sign him. Just imagine:
Lafreniere-McDavid-Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Perreault
Kreider-Trocheck-Othmann
Cuylle-Edstrom-Berard
Trouba and Kreider have to submit 15 team trade lists July 1 2024
@@robertsquared2916 not Kreider. Mika.
finally a RW to be excited about. our RW depth is pretty putrid at the moment, really excited for what perrault will bring to the team whenever he ends up on the roster.
His skating is very sub par tho
They said the same thing about Tavares (which was/is true) and no I'm not comparing but if the vision and puck skills are good enough he can be a 70-80 pt guy with subpar skating
But that’s also a fixable issue with time and effort
@@riff5fki it’s possible to improve but he will never be a very good skater
@@joshm3103 except Tavares was never that slow and his talent was miles above Gabe.
No, it's not very sub-par, it's more like "ok", not a strong suit, but perfectly "ok" ... and he's a player that creates space and separation through smarts, not physical prowess.
Trade Kakko and a first for Will Smith and the Rangers will have proven line mates.
😂😂😂
No way in hell we trade our best prospect in Smith for Kakko and a late first lmfao
@@bongweezing9631 lol! Never say never.
Saw him on Friday night at umass he looks like the next like panarin/kyle Conor
I wanted Calgary to pick him up instead of honzek
Still taking our victory lap, the Islanders suck
He would've looked so good next to Kirill Kaprizov
Othmann and Perreault are both studs and the rangers need them asap at RW haha !!!
🎶I’m a Rangers fan, in a Rangers world🎶
Will smith a great player for the sharks? Ya no way
Let's see how little buddy does againts men in the show
4th best forward prospect on BC
Nah. Imo it’s probably Smith>Perrault>Leonard>Gauthier
@@YuseiFudo52 absolutely not…
I would say Leonard> Gauthier> Smith > Perreault.
Perreault is quite a bad skater, Smith even though very creative and all that has less tools than the other two.
@@YuseiFudo52 People said the same type of stuff about Fox people like you always forget about hockey IQ which is just as important. Fox doesn't skate that well and is not physical at all yet he's great in his own zone because he's so smart, You probably would have been skeptical of Gretzy too he wasn't very fast and slightly built but one thing all these guys have in spades is vision and high hockey IQ which are among the most important traits. I just realized I wrote this in responce to the wrong post it was supposed to go to the idiot who keeps undervaluing Perrault.
@@Mcbikey24reverse that list but put Gauthier last...what Perreault lacks in skating he more than makes up for it with his hockey-iq. Miles ahead in that department compared to Smith and Leonard (they are better at different things like skating, workrate and physicality) Offensively he is the biggest talent NO questions... two-way play? Probably not.
on the right side with Mika and CK20?
Smartest player in the draft
Pin?
Quinn-a-pie-ac ??
Quinni PEE ac.
Macklin celebrini 🔥🔥
Perreault (48pts) played in a boosted boston college team with will smith (45pts) cutter gauthier (43pts) and ryan leonard (41pts) so points don’t matter here!!! Let’s see what he will do once in a professional team… not in a allstar team with his buddies!!!
