Don’t take this as criticism, take it as feedback. Merging two flows right before a bend/fitting isn’t taking advantage of the Coandă effect… as an HVAC guy i’m always trying to maximize laminar flow, before any bend or change in direction i utilize a straight section as long as i can to maximize the airs desire to follow along the surface; doing so balanced out and quieted down every system i’ve installed. I heard a loud, raspy sound in the distance and immediately assumed it was a 4-cylinder. To my surprise, it turned out to be a BMW G80 with a valvetronic exhaust. If I had a six-figure car that sounded like that, I'd be pretty disappointed. The exhaust system that OJ and Cody made, on the other hand, sounds fantastic-they should be proud of their work!
32:39 tell me that isn't the cleanest sounding s54... with a fmu rear section it will end up being perfect, but even with the stock rear section it sounds SO clean.
The biggest issue is that it’s a Twin Turbo setup and to get a TT Straight 6 to sound good is borderline impossible because of the way the headers and manifold have to be set up since exhaust manifold is on once side. It’s difficult to get the equal length effect. While the exhaust u made sounds great in my opinion, the only way to get it really good, is go single turbo, equal length, tubular headers IMO

2 into 1 has always been the way for inline 6 engines. The Japanese solved this problem back in the 90’s when they did single exit exhausts for the 2JZGTE and RB26. Figure out a way to make that same single exit sound from dual exit to keep the new aesthetic or we’ll just have to get aftermarket diffuser companies to close up the right side of the bumper and just do single out. It’s as simple as that. I don’t hear anyone complaining “real” old school Supras or Skylines don’t sound good.
If a straight six doesn't have a howl to it it just isn't worth it. I remember the Nissan L28, the engine in the 280Z and ZX, that one sounded wonderful. This is ok for a cheap fix. Doing it properly would involve a single turbo conversion of some sort, which is about the same cost as a high end bolt on exhaust system.
Go back to alumanized steel. Stainless and ti have their places but for tone you need to consider a metals natural resonance frequencies. yes...
N55 the best sounding bmw engine when its stock with catless dp
15:51 you should be very careful with that sentence, because a lot of ladies will come to your shop, but not for exhaust 😅
You beat me to it!!!😂
This comment is so unironically cringe
I don't like that raspy rubbish coming out of the ti exhaust either. You win by a big margin. My reference is a good rb or 2jz system. The 2jz in particular and even the 1jz engines sound glorious with almost any type of exhaust stuck to them. They're just rich and creamy, nice and thick, smooth. Your addition to this goes a long way to getting the s58 towards that type of sound so you're all good in my books.
Single turbo manifold = Fixed 🤣
deadass
You fixed the rasp. Paper noise. Much better.
Any chance you guys can do a complete system for my G80 M3 Comp including headers, downpipes etc? The whole system?
Are you guys planning on selling these? I have a g87 m2 and this is the best sounding exhaust i have heard
Now do S55. We’ve waited so long and got skipped
OJ in his shmedium shirt talking about fitting things into tight places.
The word you looking for in spain we call it beer can sound! Just like it
This is ok for a cheap fix. Doing it properly would involve a single turbo conversion of some sort, which is about the same cost as a high end bolt on exhaust system.
I wonder if you guys can do a new generation super WRX would definitely be curious with what sound you guys could get out of those
Go back to alumanized steel. Stainless and ti have their places but for tone you need to consider a metals natural resonance frequencies. Aluminum will give it more bass and less tinny quality and I think that’s what a lot of ppl see yearning for for s54 and s58. Worth a try, but I think you’ll hear a difference you like. .02
OJ has the voice to do an awesome Christopher Walken impersonation
Personally, I like my M3 exhausts sounding as close as possible to the e46 M3 exhaust sound ;D
