    Thank you so much for going over this. It is hard to start as an artist and these are the things that are usually forgotten and the artist is left struggling and making huge errors. It is true that you learn from your mistakes but you also learn if you don't make mistakes and a mistake like this can lose you so much more.

      Thanks so much, Shelleyanne! So true. Better not to make those costly mistakes if possible. Hopefully this'll save a few bumps and bruises for folks just starting out.

    I love your videos! I really appreciate how informative they are. Thank you for sharing. I just have a question, I was wondering whether you create your contracts yourself, hire a lawyer, or if the clients send their on contracts to you? Thank you! :)

    Looking forward to the next! 🌹
    This might be a stupid question...but how do you make your low-res jpg before you send the final? Do you scan it in low-res and send it off without editing? Or do you make a picture and send it off as a jpg?

    • @KendyllHillegas
      @KendyllHillegas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So glad to hear it! Thank you, Lidewij! I'm going to save your Q if that's ok, and answer in a video at the end of this series. I think others would want to know too!

    Hi Kendyll! Thank you for this video! I have some questions about proposals and contracts. Lately, I discussed with other illustrators (experienced illustrators!) and some of them work with no contracts, especially in editorial illustration. Some illustrators only give invoices (I understood that the magazines give the proposals). They said that the invoice is «like a contract» in editorial illustration. I was a bit shocked to learn that. Now I'm very confused with proposals/contracts/invoices. What do I have to give to the clients? Are proposals and contracts the same thing? I think not, but it's really not clear to me what are the differences between proposals and contracts... In which type of projects would I send a proposal and a contract? Would I need to send both ? I live in the province of Quebec in Canada and I know that the illustration market is really not the same here in comparison with the USA and the english provinces of Canada (sadly, especially with pricing...). I would like to know your view about this? Thanks a lot Kendyll! Have a nice day!

    Does editorial work often get published before the invoice gets paid?
