    Bob Hilton also was one of the hosts on the short-lived game show The Guinness Game during the 1979-80 season before he was replaced by actor Don Galloway.

    I've never heard of a 1990's version of _Let's Make a Deal._
    Honesty I'm not sure Monty Hall himself could've saved this version even if he was the original host, considering the 1990's is considered the dark era of The Game Show World & there were already a lot of things against it.

    I wish this version would have been a Jay Wolpert game show instead of Ron Greenberg. This would have been A good place for Jay Wolpert's sound effects instead of what was used here.

    Monty mentioned one issue they had with the 1990 version. The set was HUGE but they didn't have much room backstage. For many years they pretty much did deal LMAD live to tape only stopping for something major. In 1990, they frequently had to stop because it took too long to load and unload the prizes so it threw the rhythm off.
    And fyi, technically this wasn't the first time lmad was hosted by someone other than Monty, Dennis James filled in on a couple of occasions during the original run. (One clip was even used in the tpir pitch film) also Geoff Edwards filled in for a few shows on the 1984-1986 era and even announcer Dean Goss hosted a couple of segments. Word is Monty was ready to retire in 1986 and wanted Dean to take over as host. But Telepictures said no to that idea.
    I think Jim Perry would have been a nice choice for the 1990 version. He was fresh off Definiton and Sale of The Century so he was certainly available. Unless he had already retired by then.

      Oh yes, take haggling Jim from Sale and multiply by ten....oh what could have been...

    i mentiones thie last time but reason he was refered to as guest host was they planned on doing on air auditions for a replacement host before rhe show was canclled

      From what I hear, he only agreed to come back short term to try to save the show and buy some time to bring in a permanent host.

      With our luck Ron Greenberg would make himself the host, if the future's any indicator.
      Dick Clark? Hmmmmmmm...

    Guess this is resumming. But will the Games of 1990 cover any unsold 1990 game show pilots?

      Yeah, this is a reupload. It was originally taken down by a very weird copyright claim.

    I can't remember if you've done a Game Show Garbage on "The Big Deal" yet. It aired on Fox in the early 90s but it was terrible. It made me miss this '90 reboot. Thankfully it only lasted a couple episodes but it was pretty obnoxious. I remember the one episode i remembered involved one contestant having to guess which bearded couple was her parents, which were none of them, but they flew in her real parents anyway and offered money to send them back home right then and there. (They ended up getting flown to Europe on a huge vacation which the girl could've gotten if she had said they could stay) Then, was the player who sold his shirt and pants in exhange for cash and then was offered a "Shower With Shirley" if he got naked on stage. He accepted it thinking the pretty model in the bathrobe was Shirley, but it instead turned out that Shirley was an elephant who bathed him with his trunk. Anyway, that one was awful.

    The 1990 version was okay, but the current version with Wayne Brady is amazing, and I'm glad it's still going strong.
    And let's just pretend the 2003 version with Billy Bush never happened.

    • @newstarcadefan
      @newstarcadefan หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Billy Bush version was worse by a country mile. It actually worked better as a daily with Wayne Brady being TV's big dealer making Monty proud.

      No, the Billy Bush Version is still worse.

      @@DesmondShannon87 When Monty came on to do a deal with a contestant from the original LMAD for the 2003 version, when they cut away to Billy Bush, watching, he had this look as if he was thinking "How does he DO it?!" He just looked amazed and likely wished some of that would rub off on him.

  • @newstarcadefan

    Yeah I remember watching this way back in the day. It did feel like something was off about it. Plus it's one of the rare clunkers from Dick Clark Productions (who did the Challengers which actually was a banger, but a short lived show), TV's Bloopers, and of course the legendary Greed. Now I'm unsure if LMAD would have survived in the hyper-changing TV landscape with the trash TV talk shows/tabloid shows taking over.

  • @DanZero77

    The LMAD that was so bad they brought Monty Hall back to save it! "One Deal That Should Not Have Been Made", indeed!

    I rhouggt this was OK, especially since by this point, I was willing to warch almost anything that wasn't a talk show that was a copycat of orher talk shows. You lnow, any port in the storm. One thing I did like was the theme music. It was bright and fun. For me, at least, it's a musical earwig I catch myself humming now and then.

    Bob Hilton did an excellent hosting Let's Make A Deal, and Monty Hall did much better, but the times were changing because the game showed demise after one season.

    • @marcpower4167
      @marcpower4167 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, I don't think Bob was as bad as people said he was but Monty is a very tough act to follow and like you said game shows were no longer "in style". Talk shows were the new thing.
