Absolutely. That and even moreso, a good "ear". There's some incredible songs out there where the percussion is literally just a guy hitting a wooden block with their hands. You can make a percussion instrument out of anything, but only a good musician will be able to recognize how to use the strengths and weaknesses of their instrument to make a unique song that evokes emotion and wonder.
@@wanderer5438 This. You rarely hear a drummer playing on his own and with other instruments in the picture small differences in sound become even smaller.
I don't know what a tom sounds like but i thought the same 250cc & 80cc was super good listening through my €1k headphones i say it nearly matches $950 😂❤❤❤
Tuning drums is so so incredibly important. I used to work in a music shop where I got pretty good at it, and the combination of tuning and a good EQ can make any drum sound 👌👌👌
I have a good friend who rents out his black beauty snare for album recordings. He’s also got a huge collection of drums and drum sets that would blow your mind. Some of those snare drums have a magical sound and reverb and some sound like crap. I have a pearl piccolo snare that I enjoy personally. The sound has to fit the groove in my opinion.
That's a.cool sticking pattern. Best part of the vid 🤣 Its all head choice & how you tune it. FOR ANY DRUM ON A DRUM KIT Any drummer who knows what they're doing, can make ANY KIT "sound good" If you CAN'T...... Well..... 😆😆😆😆
I also liked the $550 the best, but I liked them all except the $80. Having said that, I didn’t think the $550 sounded multiples better than the cheaper snares. Obviously, good tuning, mic, and mixing really makes a difference!
I love the $250 one because it’s almost tuned to the pitch of the song and of course the Supraphonic sounds great. I like the $600 and $250 ones for the track though. What are they?
I've been a drummer my whole life doesn't matter about price, it's how you tune your snare and the size makes different sounds, I've owned Yamaha to Tama and Pearl, it's how you tune, hell I even got my crappy DDrum kit to sound like that
It really just depends on what type of music you intend to play and where you play it. The $950 and $800 were definitely warmer and belong in a jazz club with proper acoustics. As you progress in the lower price ranges, the flatter the sound, which is probably better for rock 'n roll.
Honestly besr way to hear these is raw. Slight compression. But there are so many factors to consider...head combos/single double ply, type, genre tuning etc. I personally light the 550 tuning
600 was personally my favorite. Mainly cuz that cream color! Theyre all tuned so well if I closed my eyes idk that I would know. The 550 & 950 seems like they had a lil more volume.
"Wow, that's a nice sounding snare"
"Wow, that's a nice sounding snare"
"Wow, that's a nice sounding snare"
"Wow, that's a nice sounding snare"
"Wow, that's a nice sounding snare"
"Wow, that's a nice sounding snare"
"Wow, that's a nice sounding snare "
The mixing is good
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly how my brain computed this
I agree with you
The way $550 was tuned 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿
real the 550 was my fave
I know you 🫵
@ funny running into you here :0
Yess
I love it.
250 sounds really good too
That was my favorite
Any1 knows the model?
@@D.rinenjiIf my eyes are correct its a Gretsch Catalina Maple
@@redhad3s867 that makes alot of sense. Ty for your time!
I agree with you. It fits with the music.
The 550 was crisp.
It's like Thhwapp sound ... just great
Yeah that was crisp
Yeah it was bro
I said the same thing. What’s a great sound
800$ sounded like a 1$ snare haha
Definitely
I concur, it was the worst one out of the bunch 😅 kinda disappointed tbh, those dial tune drums have a lot of hype
The conclusion I’ve come to is a good mic and mix is what matters most. All of these sound great

Ditto!
The $80 one was obviously cheap, though, and stood out from the others. It was very tinny.
It's funny but the best punch I think came out of the $80 snare but the $250 sounds pretty sweet!!!
nahh the 80 sounded like a tom
Yeah the 80
Dollar one sounded like a
Tom with out a mic
I don't know what a tom sounds like but i thought the same 250cc & 80cc was super good listening through my €1k headphones i say it nearly matches $950 😂❤❤❤
It might be weird but the 80 and 250 dollar one sounded so nice
I just sold that m80 and I promise you it doesn't wound great live. After it's recorded and mixed, sure it's fine.
$550, Now that's a good box.
They all sounded different but they also all sounded good. The 550 was nice and crisp.
That is the Ludwig supraphonic. Industry standard, chrome over "ludalloy".
600 any day!! ❤️
The $250, $550, and $950 were the best ones to me.
The $80 pmone sounds fire, not gonna lie
Real
Mmm. i've been suss on gear and cost perception since an Emmy winning mixer raved about a bass sound I'd used - stock garageband amp. Ah well.
Sounded tinny to me.
Tuning drums is so so incredibly important. I used to work in a music shop where I got pretty good at it, and the combination of tuning and a good EQ can make any drum sound 👌👌👌
950, 550, and 250 all spund great imo
The thin piccolo sounds damn good
The $550 one 🔥🔥
The 550 was clean👌
That $550 snare 😮💨
The supraphonic is just a versatile beast
250 is my favorite. Because the sound has a longer tail and it also has a clear tune.
Yup.
I’d say the $80 is my favorite
That 600 was 🔥🔥🔥
DWs always sound as good as they look. Especially the 8" deep ones. I own two, one wood, and one brass. Perfection.
550 is a LM400 Supraphonic... that thing is DA Thing!
the 80 was actually dope
They all sound good and the right song will make the difference. Good heads and tuning go a long way on cheap drums!
In Brazil, for the forró rhythm that is played in most states here, it is undoubtedly $80.
600 is definitely the winner here
Close, but not quite. $550 had similar body but with a better crack to it.
The most expensive and the most cheap both sounded good for the track
$550 one sounded sweeeeeet!!!!
Love it still can’t believe how good u are.live all the work u put in to this channel.

That 250 is 🔥
That's a.cool sticking pattern. Best part of the vid 🤣
Its all head choice & how you tune it. FOR ANY DRUM ON A DRUM KIT
Any drummer who knows what they're doing, can make ANY KIT "sound good"
If you CAN'T...... Well..... 😆😆😆😆
I’m all in on the $250
That $250 snare drum sounds better than every until the $850
$600 sounds perfect
Love them all but those 500 ranges were nice!
$550 for sure…sounded awesome!
$250 one sounds dope as
The 500 snare was killer!
They all sound good, because they were tuned well. However, I personally liked the $950 snare and the $600 snare
600 blew my socks off
$250 and $550 sounded really nice
Guy knows how to hit and mix a snare❤
550 anytime man !!! Damnn they get better when cheaper haha
thank you❤
I like that "Sade" rhythm
Gotta agree with most comments. All snares sound great in their own ways. Curious to know how long it took to get each snare to their tuning though!
$500 sounded so crisp!!
950 sounds crazy
600 sounds really great
80 sounds dope
I also liked the $550 the best, but I liked them all except the $80. Having said that, I didn’t think the $550 sounded multiples better than the cheaper snares. Obviously, good tuning, mic, and mixing really makes a difference!
The lesson here is that you don't buy cheap, you don't buy expensive. The sweet spot is right in the middle.
550 was my fav👌
550 sounds epic 👌
I really like the $950 and $600
They all add a different feeling to the song
I love the $250 one because it’s almost tuned to the pitch of the song and of course the Supraphonic sounds great. I like the $600 and $250 ones for the track though. What are they?
This is an underrated ad for the dialtune
550$ was SOLID !!
$250 - $500 is the sweet spot.
I've been a drummer my whole life doesn't matter about price, it's how you tune your snare and the size makes different sounds, I've owned Yamaha to Tama and Pearl, it's how you tune, hell I even got my crappy DDrum kit to sound like that
They all sound good in the right music
The most expensive 1😂! I don't drum but boy can i tell the difference 😮
That $80 had a unique punch
Loved the 500 one
250 sound so dry and warm i love it❤️.. its gretsch catalina snare?
wich one sustained their tuning for longer ?thats my question 😂
600 kinda sounded like the snare youd use for like slam metal, which is badass of course.
It really just depends on what type of music you intend to play and where you play it. The $950 and $800 were definitely warmer and belong in a jazz club with proper acoustics. As you progress in the lower price ranges, the flatter the sound, which is probably better for rock 'n roll.
we have the same little pads on the drums at band practice
The most expensive was my fav lol
i’m ngl the $80 one sounded crazy
Im going with the $550 or $500 snare.. I would use the $80 as a side/auxiliary snare drum.🥁
$550 and $500 were nice nice.
Hot take : the 250 one is good enough
550 comes on
*sheds a tear*
Honestly besr way to hear these is raw. Slight compression. But there are so many factors to consider...head combos/single double ply, type, genre tuning etc. I personally light the 550 tuning
I cant decide between 600 and 550. Both are incredibly nice.
They all sound like drums to me. So many factors here.
I would use all of them for different reasons and different beats so all my beats don’t have the same sounding kits 👍🏾
the $550 one all about the tuning and the heads
crazy how his snare costs more than my actual drum set
$600 sounds tasty
$550 snare is by far my fav
I like "$800"s sound
800 dollar one had a great sound
for me the 550 one sounds the best🔥🔥🔥

I liked the $80 one.
$250 was legit 💯
My favorite 800$.
the 550 is fire
80$ snare sounds like from St. Anger, I like it.
The 550 is amazing. Which one is it? Asking for a friend 😅
Everything sounds nice🎧
Dude…can you please post the wav file of the audio somewhere? Those snares all sound so good.
Nobody talking about the $600 snare is crazy
