I hope Sess is keeping an eye on this research the NFL are putting into hamstring injuries. For context, a Green Bay Packers WR (Christian Watson, who has suffered with the same problem as Sess) is helping to find the cause of explosive hamstring injuries, and so far the results are leaning towards the strength differential between each hamstring causing the weaker one to tear at higher speed/acceleration. He was at around a 20% difference and he’s aiming to get that down to around 6%, could be a game changer for many if he has an injury free season!
those hugo lloris quotes really made me tear up. we were truly lucky to have him for as long as we did. his service and loyalty to the club was immense
The thing with the red AIA logo, and this is coming from someone who used to head up the marketing dept for a major brand with a red logo, is it’s a PR opportunity missed. I have actually written to their marketing dept in the past. Other shirts and signage have shown that the AIA logo doesn’t actually NEED to be red. So if they made a point of saying “we’ve listened to you” and came out with a shirt with a blue logo, that shirt would probably become the best selling shirt in a decade, and the PR benefit and goodwill towards the brand would be huge.
Cheers for the vid Ali Gutted about Japh. Sad for Sess. But alas. Injuries and poor selection. Good lads and wish them the best. Dier is a low-key club stalwart and hope he gets his goodbye someday. And Ivan probably would've meant we got CL if he didn't get injured. But always cool to have a legend at the club. Even if he wasn't one of ours.
Negotiating Marcus Edwards sell on clause down to get Porro is the epitome of Levy deal making. I can definitely see why he's known to be an absolute pain to negotiate with lol
Eze is the one I’d like to see get done. Can play on both wings and in Maddison’s role at a high level. Incredible on the ball. I’d be really disappointed if we didn’t attempt to get him this summer.
Why is the football kit £85? Rule of Acquisition number ten: Greed is Eternal. Seriously though, there’s a reason even as a fan abroad that I’m a hat, scarf, and pin kind of guy: I can’t justify the cost for the kit. Great video either way.
Absolutely agree about the kits, Ali. When I was at school, my parents used to buy me shirts and even full...kits. I had a few Spurs kits, a Brazil one from the '94 World Cup, and a couple of England ones (one being that awesome strip from Italia '90). My parents definitely weren't rich, probably on the skint end of things if i'm honest. Still managed to buy me these things. It's completely mental. Especially with kids, having the shirt of your team means an awful lot, definitely was the case with me.
I bought my soon to be 3 year old last seasons away kit for £20 which will last. Madness that anyone would pay £55 for a child’s kit let alone £85 for the adult shirt. Games gone!
So that’s Sessegnon, Moura, Aurier Lamela and Doherty, a combined total of about 120 million worth of transfer fees, out the door for nada. Jeez our business has been absolutely appalling at times.
@@jacklegros6614 it's pretty closely tied to how bad the type of football we were playing and managers (Conte & Jose) that didn't let any of those players near first XI. But yeah, not the greatest recruitment.
The kit prices are a total con and the answer is quite simple, don't buy them. Children have to learn you can't always get what you want. And don't get me started on the scandalous environmental impact of producing these clothes. As you can tell by my fractious mood, I have a dental appointment today!
Crikey!! Can't believe how many breaks I had to take to finish the video. Ali Gold went on a full blown rant about everything~ lol You know what, I am with you 100% on the kits! I was fuming when I found out that I couldn't buy the kits from last season on the official website anymore. I want my Hojberg shirt because Gold and Guesty voted him as the unsung hero!! Now I feel like going on to Social Media and scream like Ali Gold at Chairman Levy: What a greedy _____________________!!! On a serious note, I appreciate how much you put into the video. Keep up the good work and don't be so angry! The summer is here and the ice cream van will come along every day! :D
ive not been to watch spurs play since champs league run to final simply because i can no longer afford the cost of the ticket or how hard it is to get one and travel which makes me sad as a fan that use to go home and away all the time from the mid 80,s but as you say the everyday working class fan is being slowly priced out of going regular
Thanks for the rant about the shirt prices! I’ve not seen anybody moan about this and I thought I was going crazy. Why are they so bloody expensive??????
Imagine ndombele winning the league with galatasaray and then joining cross city rivals. The ultimate villain. I think conte really liked Bentancur and Kulusevski as well as PEH.
Thanks for another great vid and for answering my question, much appreciated 👏 Glad we have the same views on Solanke - let's hope Spurs have a real go at signing him!
Couldn't agree more with the kit rant Alasdair! Been saying it for a couple of years. I remember the summer 2020 kit release, when the pandemic had just started and people were being laid off left right an centre, and spurs were asking nearly £100 for a shirt! Made me so mad!
Thanks for the video, Alasdair! Sad for Sessignon and Tanganga and wishing them the very best. I had really hoped we’d eventually see them as successful Spurs players! I do like Gallagher but can’t imagine Chelsea would transact a deal with Spurs! It should be an interesting trading season! I’ll always love Hugo!
I can't believe the prices of the new spurs kits . Madness. I normally get them every season. But I can't afford to get next season one . Its a shame . Am really looking forward to when the transfer window opens and see who we get linked to and who we sell and buy . Great video coys
PEH to Napoli sounds like a good fit for me. He could play at a good level where he belongs to a familiar manager, and the working class team culture and city could suit his "no nonsense / midfield warrior" style. If he has a good Euros, admittedly in a bit regressed Denmark team, his stock would rise up even more I think.
Hi Ali, anytime i read a report linking spurs to a particular player and then see the potential price tag, if it's £50 million+ , i just think "na we're not signing him!" We just don't often spend that kind of money on one player and probably not likely to in the near future.
Great podcast as usual Mr Gold, love your content. Only disagreement I have is around Solanke, I think he is a similar level to Richarlinson. In my opinion we need better, I prefer Toney. Keep up the good work.
We spent that amount on kits the last two years. We have now found a site that sells kids kits for less than £30. Luckily I am not a fan of the new kits this year so I can ignore it this year. I wonder if the prices go up again next year.
£200 pays the monthly rent for a nice one-bedroom flat here in Brazil. It's the sort of price that would be worth it for the shirt of a player who'd won a competition. But to expect families to fork out every season for a new set is really the sort of slap in the face that is turning people away from football and indeed from commercialism in general.
With the greatest of respect because you are a podcast God Ali but watching Gazza could never be a mistake regardless of situation… Now I’ll go back to watch the rest of it😂❤️
So good to have a video of Mr Gold during the summer. Keeps up with happening with Spurs. Spurs making room for new players coming in. Look forward to next month to see what players Spurs are really linked with. I do wish that Troy gets a go next season. Think he can be a late bloomer.
I'm guessing I am of a similar age to yourself, early 40s (apologies if I am doing you an injustice!), and have exactly the same reaction to the kit prices. How on earth can a 'stadium' shirt be that never mind the price of a pair of shorts? It's just crazy.
Thank you for the video, Alasdair. I am skeptical of Chelsea selling Gallagher to Spurs. If it can be done quickly, I’m all for it, but could see Chelsea drag it out and eventually extend his contract. With the news of Alvarez being available, I would love it if Spurs went for him, but would be surprised if we’d spend that much money on a single player. Eze is still my first choice signing if possible. Hope we end up making some moves soon!
To counter your point about why would players come to play 2nd fiddle maybe we should sign players better then the ones we have rather then the cheap and easy squad players
It is absurd to pay that kind of money for a kit. I totally agree. As for the complaints, I can fully understand that. If they can't put the AIA in blue, I would love to know why? Do they not think that they might even sell more shirts if they did that? Also, the designers that they use must wait until they have to put their ideas forward and then spend the last hour of that deadline coming up with a new one. It would be acceptable if they touted 3 choices, for example, and went with the popular choice. At least we wouldn't be able to complain en mass.
Ali, how much of Japhet’s weekly wages did Spurs cover when he was at Millwall? How many players can the club send out on loan in 2024-2025? It sounds like letting Japhet leave on a free was for both reasons. If only he and Ryan didn’t suffer all those injuries.
Is there any news on what Ange's plans are for Dane Scarlett? He always seems to do really well at academy level, especially for england and has shown bright moments in the first team especially against fulham in the league cup last season.
Thanks for the fascinating video, Alasdair. It is a great shame that things did not really work out for Ryan and Japhet at Spurs but I hope they find success elsewhere. As for Troy, I would definitely give him a chance in pre-season. Afterall, Spurs do not have a great record of bringing in “high profile” strikers. Ange should give Troy, Dane and Will chances on the tour. I agree that kit prices are scandalous but just as with ticket prices the club know that the loyal fans will shell out their money for the team they love.
With our homegrown quota issues and Emerson likely leaving. I can't help but thinking Skippy could be converted as a great back-up for Porro? Much more cost effective then KWP for £20 mill surely?
Your comments about Spurs kit prices are so right. But if like me you are unfortunate enough to be a Mets baseball fan as well, the price of their uniform tops is well over 50% more than a shirt! The quality is much higher and detailing is better. But the queue to get into the Merchandise shop at London City at the weekend was 75 minutes long and you can easily spend £180 in 20 minutes. So long as we still pay, the prices will go on up.
Hey Ali, great to see a new video as always! I have a question for you, I am wondering: do you reckon Ange's inverted wingback system is the main reason for the lack of penalties called for us this past season? I wonder if the addition of a traditional number 9, who gets into the box and draws contact, would change that. Did Ange's other teams deal with the same lack of penalties?
Do you know if we even tried to get L. Kelly from Bournemouth..? Cover the LB/LCB plus was a free agent but seems is going Newcastle.. shame thought he was a solid back up to VDV.

Hey Ali, thanks for replying to my random message on instagram. And about strikers, as a Canadian footy fan, I personally don't think David is elite level. Love what he does for the national team, but consistency is an issue.
