I keep SKs as the first pedal on both my boards. Absolutely essential piece of equipment. Simple, reliable, and extremely effective.

Hey Adam--Another option. I swapped in an EH12ay7 in place of the AX tube in the Harp Train. It tames the feedback problem remarkably well and the tone stays tremendous. Can crank up to 8 with no problem.

I use this and swear by it. I've used it through '63 Super Reverb, '64 Vibrolux, and my '70 something 115 Musicman. Great device and simple to use !!!

Where should a Squeal Killer be placed on the pedal board - first, last, somewhere in the middle?

Jason Lockwood recommends placing the SK first in the chain. If you have a large number of pedals you might want to use a buffer pedal. I just use the SK, then a delay pedal and nothing else. Works fine.

Using a 50W Crate Vintage Club 50 amp with 3X10" speakers, I've measured
124 dB out of my Harmonicaster electric harmonica, and that's with the
amp at moderate levels. If I want to play even louder, I can turn the
amp all the way up and still not get feedback.
