Another great video Gavin ... keep them coming. As for the homeless situation, it is steadily rising at an alarming rate. We live in New Brunswick, Canada where our winters see lots of snow and temperatures between -20C & -30C. It is a sad situation seeing people surviving in these tent cities. So many people can't keep up with the rising cost of food, rents, clothing, etc. and are forced to the streets. Yes, some of these homeless have drug or mental issues, but there are many who are forced into the streets as they have lost their jobs or just can't afford to pay rents or mortgages. Our government leaders need to address the issues in some way (rent controls, price controls on consumes goods, etc.)
Homelessness is rampant here in the US I don't know about other countries. Your right its sad that just a couple of years ago it wasn't nearly as bad, but times and governments are changing and its for the worst! Gavin, I thought you worked for yourself and not some company.

Lots of homeless in Ontario Canada. You are right, it became rampant after Covid, but I think it's more economic. Rents are insane and people just can't afford it.

Your government living off of the tax bills of empty properties bought up by foreign nationals is to blame for this.
They will say its a problem, but they will never provide a solution that doesnt tax the middle class more, because they love the extra free tax revenue without any overhead far too much to change the laws.

Here in the US homeless people are rampant in many large cities.
We have people from the Ukraine staying here (Netherlands). Our council is busy building a temporary village across a canal from our house for 5,000 more refugees - will start to move in at the end of the month.
I hope Putin will end this nonsense and these people will be free to return to their home and live in peace......

Good job as usual Gav. Doesn't help that it's the wrong fitting on the stack. Sadly, inflation has skyrocketed since covid. The Government warned they would take a hard stance against those who profited from price gouging but to date have done nothing as the cost of living continues to rise.

Here where I live in Wisconsin people are homeless because they can’t afford rent. Since Covid rent prices are out of control. And a lot of the homeless are the elderly. It seems like no matter what you save up for retirement it is never enough. It is a sad day when the elderly are living on the streets with no where to go. Anyone who is homeless deserves better. But what is the answer? The permanent solution?
get rid of the greedy sob's in power. limit how much profit a company can make. Fix the tax code where billionaires pay more.

It happens in both large and small cities across New Mexico (Western US).
Been a big increase in homeless in New Zealand too. Rents, and prices in general, have gone out of control over the last couple of years. People have closed their wallets, which is putting downwards pressure on prices, but many suppliers and landlords are resisting. Local councils, and our last Government, wasted huge sums of money on consultants and unnecessary projects like putting huge speed humps everywhere they were not needed or wanted. Now the chickens are coming home to roost.

Never heard of Kitty litter down the drain before Gavin . Years ago in Bristol UK there was tents everywhere now hardly any but still loads of homeless people though .
We have little communities of tents set up in parks and near the water. I should record it one day and show you all
Hey Gavin, as far as homeless people, well I am basically homeless myself now, I lost my home to property taxes, just couldn't afford them! They went up 67% in a year, and to add on top they did property assessments so they could raise the taxes even more, so from paying $1,430 a year, it shot up to $5848 a year. Fortunately I still had a rental property that was vacant in another town, although it was destroyed by the previous tenant, it's providing me shelter, I can't get utilities turned on due to the damage, but I'm getting by. I make roughly $2300 a month and still can't afford to live. I have no vices besides cigarettes, so my money goes towards gas (petrol), car insurance, business insurance, food, and hygiene

Homelessness is rampant in the US. I would say it's 25% who can't afford or find housing, 50% who prefer to live that way and 25% who are trying to better themselves as fast as they can. It's a sad existence.

Here in the US this homeless camps have been a problem for some time. The big cities call themselves "sanctuary cities" and the homeless flock there. There are tent cities all over the place. Honestly, it's been a problem for at least twenty plus years and has been getting worse. Greetings from Oregon from a third generation plumber/pipefitter.

Gavin, homelessness has been happening for decades in the USA. My university degree is in Sociology with a specialty in homeless studies. The problem that I've found is that social workers have made a business on the backs of these people. If we as a nation actually addressed the problems their wouldn't be homelessness.

Similar story here in Canada. Not to debate COVID, but when you shut down the World economy (similar to War time), there is going to be a knock-on effect. GOV has various plans in the works, but problem with the GOV machine moving slowly is by the time they actually get something done, it is already too late.

We don't have the kind of "homeless" encampments in the UK that there are in countries like Australia and the US, but we do have a disproportionate amount Ex-Service personnel living on the streets, though given the number of "illegal migrants" alone (due to governments of both stripes screwed up policies) I can only see the numbers of homeless start climbing the way it has over in Ireland.
2:10 I noticed a homeless encampment in the park on Gympie road Aspley just up a bit from the caravan / mobile home park. It is in a flood prone area where there are depth markers on the walking path (down under a bridge) I know it is difficult finding rentals in Brisbane. Even caravan parks are over priced and pretty full so I understand why they set up in parks.
I can see why it happened. C*vid destroyed the economy. The government handed out billions of dollars which means printing money which means increased inflation. The cost of food , rentals (cost of living) just went sky high. Just a few years ago, you could buy 2 litres of store brand milk for $2 .. Now it is $3.50 (over just 3 - 4 years). That's a 175% increase in say 4 years or so. Rental prices increased by 150% over the same period.
I never understood why the government would pay job keeper (pay you to keep your job) . It just ended up with employees earning more money than they would have normally . If someone wants to quit their job, let them. Plenty of others who want to work that will take up the position.
Ps I can see why wet cat litter jams the plumbing. It gets heavy as it absorbs liquid . Very little goes down my toilet. That's why the scooper has slots in it (let the litter slide through when scooping)

The issue is that there’s supposedly a kitty litter that is flushable. I still wouldn’t flush it. And then people think all kitty litter is flushable and turns to concrete in the pipes.

I'm here in Victoria bc the homeless is unbelievable people living under trees everywhere thanks to our prime minister who let in 5 million people in the last 4 years into Canada
In the US there are homeless in every major city and depending the politics, they are allowed to pitch tents on the sidewalks and poo there as well. San Francisco is really bad for that.

In Argentina it happens worse, in the middle of winter and homeless people sleep on the streets, several have died from the cold. Inflation here is everyday currency

Those homeless encampments were all over Canada too. Some are protesting stuff from other countries and there's just no work, no food, nowhere to stay. So this is what they do. It's nothing new. Hopefully it'll change when we get a new government here in Canada.
