No comparison between Clark and Kelsey, NEVER was. Plum NEVER had the following. Plum had a harder transformation because she’s only 5’8”. The fact that Kelsey Plum did survive, is a testament to her dawg mentality. It took her much longer, but she never quit.

She really did not have the mental makeup to survive the Rookie Gauntlet. Whereas CC played ball against the boys. As Geno said, CC gives as much as she gets back. Sabrina is great without question. But she isn't putting up the numbers that Caitlyn did, in her rookie year, while being targeted all game long. Clark really is changing the game, along the lines of a Jordan/Magic/Bird.
So cool, Sabrina got 10 more triple doubles in college. It is an accomplishment, to be sure. But Caitlyn brought an underwhelming Iowa team to the Final Four, back to back, basically on her own.
Hell, Caitlyn could fall off hard next year. This could have been her best year. Who knows; shit happens. But if she continues to adapt and elevate her game, then we haven't seen anything yet. And with the new crop of rookies having similar natural talent, this really is a changing of the guard for the WNBA. Like it or not, it started with Clark. But everyone has to downplay what she's down because "we gotta be respectful to the people that came before," all while forgetting to be respectful to her.

Every other player on that team excelled because of her. All the other players who went into WNBA were part of elite basketball teams. Iowa had mediocre players who were elevated to excellence by Caitlin Clark. This could clearly be seen by the fan base, her skills were phenomenal , her court IQ unmatched. They were always the underdog against the teams like UConn and South Carolina. Place style is electrifying , hypnotizing. I never watched a WNBA game in my life. The fact that the WNBA treated their top rookies like trash is what’s truly disgusting. It’s no wonder this league has failed so miserably. They are on welfare from the NBA and have fallen into a victim mentality for so long that when so new hopper comes along, they immediately try to destroy it. They are not popular because they are just implacable! We’ve heard it before from rookies that were harassed so much that they just quit.
Athletes need positive support to maintain their confidence. Shooting is all about confidence! Passing is also about confidence. Even running is hampered by choking. The fact that CC brushed it all off tells us how incredible a talent she is. The new head office hopefully gives CC the backing to unleash her full potential next year. Ionescu has the record for the most triple doubles in WNCAA division 1 history with 27. Clark is a distant second at 17. She can also hit the logo 3s consistently. She was playing Clark's game before Clark even went to Iowa. So the Liberty turned what was probably the most talented point guard in the WNBA at that time, into a shooting guard and called it a success. Sides wanted to do Clark what the Liberty did to Ionescu and "break her bad habits".
In the post game interview after the last Liberty/Fever game, there was a sadness in Ionescu's face and the way she talked about Clark, that went beyond disappointment in losing a game. So will the WNBA make the same mistake in CCs second year? And with the next few rookie classes coming through will that force them to look seriously at how to promote the game? CC will always have her fans no doubt about that so whichever team she plays for is going to be golden revenue wise. But if the WNBA wants to cash in too then they probably need to work harder at promoting her and all the big stars.

I do not think this class is that special. Of course CC is and Brink would have been. Rickea is below special. AR rebounding is special. I do not think the WNBA is special. I think they have around 10 special players before this year. About 10 really good players. 70 role players and 54 bench players that are cheerleaders and mop up players. 3 new teams are coming in over the next two years. Not a lot of special in the next 2 years of classes in WCBB. This average league will be even more average when 3 new teams join.

Mick brought up how Clark and Bueckers were co-national freshmen of the year and that Bueckers was national player of the year. But what many don't realize is that Clark only got voted 2nd team all-American. Using logic alone, if Clark was good enough in voters' eyes to be named co-freshman of the yr with Bueckers, who herself was deemed good enough to be player of the yr, then how TF is Clark not considered good enough to make 1st team all-American??
And it's even more of a joke given that Clark led the nation in scoring and assists (led in total asts, 3rd in average) that season. And then if you actually compare her season to some of those who made 1st team, Clark's omission seems even more egregious.
