    Random fun fact: The cars in this game are modeled after the cars in Jay Leno's car collection. He actually gave Team Bondi full access to his collection.

    7:13 Kills an innocent pedestrian while saying "I kept the streets of L.A. safe for the people".

    5:06 "I grew up in San Francisco. My father was in shipping. Went to college at Stanford, did two years RO-" *hits cluster of mailboxes, a parking meter, light pole, and mows down a group of people, and also sends the front bumper and hood flying, gets out of car, bumrushes a guy in a booth, gets run over, loses his hat, picks up hat and **-steals-** borrows car that hit him* "I grew up in San Francisco. My father was in shipping. Went to college at Stan-" *hits hot dog booth and sends more people flying, destroys a bench* I grew up in San Franciso. My father was in shipping. Went to college at Stanford, did two years ROTC before Marine OCS at Camp Elliot. Shipped out in early '45 as First Lieutenant and fought in the Okinawa campaign. I was wounded and shipped back home. Did a year on the beat and now I'm here." Wow Cole, you sure know how to drag on a conversation, and while running over somebody's crotch.

      If he told you that story _without_ recklessly ramming into L.A.'s infrastructure and needlessly disfiguring its pedestrians for life it would've been a total snoozefest though..

    For a moment there I wasn't sure if I was watching L.A. Noire or a recent re-imagining of Carmageddon! If nothing else, it cheered me up, and I thank you for that! :)

    They really should make more games like this. I really liked playing this game...it has a little bit of everything....shooting, driving, drama, investigation, fighting, chasing. I wonder if they would make a sequel to this game except taking place in the 50s/60s this time.

    Having played this game AND GTA, I must say that I'm used to this 'style' of driving and mayhem in GTA, but not in L.A. Noire. Seeing Cole Phelps just got batsh!t crazy on the town, hit-and-running his partner, and just going "Sorry!" as he brutally runs over citizens with his car of choice makes me laugh. I expect Niko to do that, but not Cole. XD

  • @CookieTowerDefence
    @CookieTowerDefence 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The graphics and small touches there are amazing! Like when he backs the car, he actually looks backwards. And the lips aren't just moving randomly like a puppet as they talk, but you can actually read their lips. This is amazing! =O I've never even heard of this game before, not being a big gamer and all. Is there a PC version? Is it just as good?

    It was pretty sweet watching this review. I have always wanted the game (living in LA + loving period games such as this) and now I'm assured I'll like it. And I'm also a fan of Mad Men, so that's awesome. Your videos are also great.

    Mad Men, woooo! Haven't tried this game yet, but it was fun watching Cole Phelps/Ken Cosgrove run around. Laughed at the description of the Black house as being "delightfully creepy" - reminded me of something you'd hear on old MST3K episodes. :D I agree that there should be more period games. With awesome cars!

  • @Yusuke_Denton
    @Yusuke_Denton 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hadn't watched any gameplay videos of this yet, because I didn't care to watch anyone play it until you. It looks more fun than I expected. The facial animations are amazing, but the body animations still look a little "uncanny valley"-ish.

    You making this game into something that it shouldn't be, making it look like carmageddon or gta, which is awesome, and makes the game more interesting!!! I did not know that this game allows you to play like that. P.S. I love all of your videos, and especially game-plays like this one! Your comments always make me laugh!! :)

    1) Wow phreakindee, what do you have against Insuance Companies.
    2) They won't need a detective to solve your road rampage murders
    3) You should try Mafia 2 if you haven't already. It goes through 3 decades of cars. You get to somewhat appreciate the massive evolution in design and power. The seasons change too, you get snow at first and it reminded me of one of those old Christmas movies.

    old cars are just really nice

    35:42 good ol' teletransportation! a rockstar's classic on the PC.
    I remember once, at the time GTA4 for the PC was just released, I was driving like a maniac and crashed into a huge truck.
    Instead of a standard collision, the truck just popped out of existence and my car started spinning at enourmous speed.
    Be it intentional or accidental, rockstars games always delivers a lot of fun.

    Agreed on Mafia 2. Another period game set in the late 40's and 50's. Received a bit of a lukewarm response but I really, really enjoyed it. It's popped up in lots of Steam sales too, so I'm sure if you pay attention to the Summer Sale right now it'll pop up again.

    yeah totally, a lot of games just dont work with a mouse and keyboard. when it comes to rpgs and some strategy games, maybe puzzle games, first person shooters. can work with keyboard and mouse...but other types of games tend not to do so well...like indeed racing and platformers
    im often swapping between a pad and keyboard when it comes to pc games

    Some games, yes. Maybe platformers or some action games. But on PC I can play Mario or Megaman or Super Meat Boy or whatever with one hand via WASD, shift and the spacebar, leaving another hand free to do something else (maybe play Mario on another computer, at the same time, lol). But if you complain about not being able to play an FPS or something like that without a gamepad, then man... One of the main points of playing something like that on PC is the ergonomics and speed of a keyboard.
