      Hey buddy, all you did was get that dog use to another dog. Nothing impressive here. By the way, you clearly are a professional dog trainer. Its sad that people cant see the obvious. Pinch collars would have worked a million times better. The next dog it sees is just going to set it off again.

      I am curious what you have to say about the fact that bribing a dog with food is a questionable strategy also. Dog treats are highly processed cancer sticks. If you're going to do this, get an apple, slice it and use that!
      If you make your dog fat, that is probably worse than using a choke chain or shock collar. I've seen the results of your technique with lazy owners. That's how you end up with a diabetic dog!

      Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution It would be beneficial if you worked with a dog that is legitimately untrained. That dog can do the Wistminster Dog show she’s so well behaved. If the dog doesn’t look in your eye like you demonstrated in beginning should you lift her head? Force her to look? When you’re successful then tape that. Move on. Showing a fully trained dog already doesn’t help the average person who is trying to do it from scratch. But thanks for the try.

    Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

      Here’s a method that worked with me. It’s called ‘leash tension’ you have to teach your dog to walk two steps back by putting a little bit of tension on the leash behind there neck, once they step one foot back reward them, and lose the tension. Keep doing this for 2 or 3 days and then when they pull and you put tension on the leash they’ll slow down.

      He said earlier in the video, you cannot expect your dog to walk properly on a leash if he/she has no other training. You have to work on getting your dogs attention on command prior to being leash trained.

      did u not notice in the beginning he did state that ur dog should have basics (sit, down etc) completely down before moving it up to walking nice on leash...btw some dogs will never pull it's just something that happens and u can't always control it on camera in all scenerios. do u even have a dog? i have a 7mo old deaf Pit Bull who knows all the hand signals for all the basic training steps (sit, down, come, stay, leave it) and i did all that in 2 months by myself. When i got him he knew NOTHING! it takes dedication to ur dog to train them CORRECTLY.

      agreed Zak needs to do a video with a pulling dog like a Husky. I trained my husky to heel but it's difficult for them to not want to pull. we do Urban Mushing together because her pull drive is so high I'd like to see him to try and handle a full grown Husky.

    • @dariarylkova5720
      @dariarylkova5720 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jessica parks you shouldnt expect your dog to heel for long periods of time. The walk is supposed to be for them to enjoy. Depending on where we're walking, my husky will walk 3-10ft in front of me on a loose leash. Ive taught him the command "slow" when he needs to slow down & "this way" when he needs to look at me because we're changing direction from where he's trying to go. He pulls to the side when he wants to sniff, so "leave it" is also important. He does well on a collar or his harness. It took a good two years to get really consistent communication & still occasionally give high value treats to keep him motivated. I only have him heel if we're in a very crowded area. We go on 3-5 mile walks in a city setting at a time, so lots of distractions.

    • @jessicaparks283
      @jessicaparks283 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My dogs aren't foreign to Mushing commands. They know onby, Gee, Haw, hike, and I don't expect my dog to heel all the time lol. I expect my dogs to respect my commands. I think you misunderstood my comment. Thats ok it happens. Let me be a little clearer. I think he needs to show a dog that takes longer than a 15 minute video to train loose leash walking so there's more of an accurate depiction of what the majority of northern breeds face.

    • @dariarylkova5720
      @dariarylkova5720 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jessica parks You said that you taught heel as an alternative to pulling, so I was responding to that cause lots of people think their dog should walk behind or beside them. I've been a bit lazy to teach directional commands, but need to cause we go hiking a lot when he's off leash and it would be useful if I could tell him which direction to go ahead of time.
      There are videos out there that claim: stop pulling in 10min etc which just put a prong collar on the dog or do the back & forth walks with dogs that don't pull. I agree that Zach's arent the most detailed videos, they just get you started, but I've repeatedly heard him say it takes months to years to get good communication on a variety of behaviors. Its obvious this dog has had a lot of training, and Zach is showing how to proof a few things.
      The kikopup channel has more detailed explanations for approaches to leash manners with positive reinforcement/negative punishment.

      MY pitbull pup is just 8 months old she is for the most part a good dog I've watched your videos since she was 8 weeks old ... I don't know why she is so vocal very loud as if she's talking to me. she is spoiled but I won't let her be aggressive try to hold me. however she isn't good on a leash and im working on her jumping .. I often wonder if she will protect the house and me I do have her hold and release. now I need to teach her how to attack and hold until I tell her to release. I do make her focus and look at me when training also I don't let her stare me down she turns her head before I take my eyes off of her. not sure if I'm doing everything correct

    As someone that constantly rescues animals I recommend not using that neck collar, use a full body collar so you distribute the tug evenly on their body and don't choke your doggo.
    Some doggos are food motivated and others are praise motivated, play around with that
    Also I'm not a trainer, just what I've seen works better for my rescues

      A martingale collar might help since they're hard to get out of (they are wide collars that tighten when pulled so the dog can't slip out) but it probably won't stop your dog from trying to escape in the first place, just make it harder. I must say the other reply about the prong collar is probably right, it'll show your dog that trying to escape results in discomfort.

    Hi Zak, I'm new to your channel and so far you have very good info. I have a Siberian Husky. She's 1 year old and I'm trying to get her to stop jumping on me and pretty much everyone she meets. She already busted my lip twice jumping up. I would like to see if you have any advice on training a Sib Husky to be calmer and also pulling is an issue. Thanks a bunch.

    Great advice! I've usually trained walking in leash by completely stopping walking when the dog pulls (so they learn they have to walk back a little bit if they wanna get anywhere) and then use a shorter and shorter leash until they walk by my left foot. It has always worked, that is until I got my newest foster puppy who is terrified of cars (I have reason to believe she has been hit by one as she's currently being diagnosed for a knee damage by vets and her tail is deformed). Because of this, she goes bananas on walks so my regular methods haven't worked at all. All the other dogs have understood that we need to walk in the same pace while she is so distracted by her surroundings often combined with fear, also she's barely able to focus on me on walks. I'll try this method and hopefully Barbie will learn to ignore her surroundings a little better 😄

    ⚠️⚠️➖PLEASE NOTE I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINER NOR DO I HAVE ANY QUALIFICATIONS. THIS IS JUST MY OWN OPINION AND I WILL LEAVE A SHORTER VERSION AS A REPLY DOWN BELOW➖⚠️⚠️
    I have a Springer spaniel who is extremely energetic and gets 4km walks followed by swims daily , and yet is never tired! Even when she was a puppy, if I ever dropped the leash, she would be fine until she heard a slight sound, be it a bird or just the wind in the trees, and off she went and sometimes would be gone for over an hour and I would panic. As she grew up, my uncle told me the reason she was pulling was because 1) she is a gundog. Not trained as one (she's all bark no bite ) but every dog has their hunting instincts, even Chihuahuas!
    2) she felt she was being trapped because I kept her on a tight leash to avoid her chasing cats, birds or anything that moved
    My dog has social anxiety, which means whenever she sees a dog, she'll prick her ears in interest , but instead of pulling to get to them, she'll walk beside me and then lie down and stop once they're in full view. If the dog is smaller she might slowly creep forward and then carefully stand up to greet them, then it's all ok! But if the dog comes over her shoulder height, that's it. She will lie down and let the dog sniff her and then wait for it to leave and I have to bend down to stroke her and calm her before we can set off again. Having social anxiety also means she is really bad in crowds . I am a runner and she is the perfect dog for running but I often do races and a 5km on as Saturday that involve crowds of up to 100+ people and the first time I brought her along , she ran in every direction and screamed. I found that a loose leash helps them relax and not feel trapped, especially if you have an anxious dog which are prone to panic attacks or if they have social anxiety. A trick I also found is that harnesses are THE BEST THING EVER for a dog owner who has pup who pulls. They don't put a strain on their throat because I would find a load of redness around my dogs neck when I walked her with a lead. Another GREAT thing is an extending lead. BRILLIANT for the beach, training or just your everyday walk. I walk my dog off-lead when we do our daily walk as it's a quiet forest and not many people go there, maybe two or three people a day. However, in the weekend I like to walk her in the park, so she is on lead most of the time until I get to this huge bare area full of grass with no distractions. Extension leashes are great because it mean your dog has a little more freedom and you don't have have to sprint beside them to keep up! Please remember I am not a specialist or have any qualifications to give training tips. This is just my opinion and advice that worked for me. Every dog is different and while probably no one is going to use or read this, different dogs use different techniques when training. Don't forget to find your own tricks! I use downhill fetch, where I throw the ball from the top of a hill and my dog has to run downhill to retrieve it and it tires her our easier as she has to run up the hill too! Have a great day❤️

    • @ziva6245
      @ziva6245 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1.) Harnesses are THE BEST THING EVER for a dog owner who has pup who pulls. They don't put a strain on their throat because I would find a load of redness around my dogs neck when I walked her with a lead.
      2.) A GREAT thing is an extending lead. BRILLIANT for the beach, training or just your everyday walk. Extension leashes are great because it mean your dog has a little more freedom and you don't have have to sprint beside them to keep up!
      3.)Walk them on loose leash. It stops them feeling trapped and it will help avoid any pulling.
      4.). Teach them "leave it", it will help so so much. Saved my dogs life once, she tried to eat a fishes bones in my neighbours trash and it stopped her. Phew! It also helps as every dogs hunting instincts kick in once in awhile and the little ducks in the lake or pond suddenly become prey. Just say "leave it" it should help! In order to react your dog "leave it" first show them some everyday dog food. Place it on the found if front if them and say "leave it!" Hold the dog back and then reward her with something better, ham, treats, toys or kisses if they're not into that sort of thing. Repeat until verbal praise is enough for them.
      5). Off! Is also a great one if your dog turns into a kangaroo when they see people, especially if they've just been romping in mud and are off lead."Down" means lay down, so "off!" means get off. Wait for the (clean) dog to jump up. Hold both its paws in your hands (carefully!) until it wants its paws back. Then you're going to let go, whilst saying 'off!' DISCLAIMER I got the "off" and "leave it" training techniques from Eric letendre. He does dog training videos that work brilliantly! Thanks!

Useful commands like "look at me, sit, come, heal, ring the bell, tug of war, & leave it" are tolerated but playing fetch, lay, quiet, play dead, and other tricks are quickly learned but abandoned due to annoyed dog. She still knows the training. Maybe I am asking too much but why isn't my dog more into the training. Better treats? PS.... Dog really isn't really very stomach oriented,... not really food oriented (weird right?). Maybe a disputed dominance outlook?
