Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games th-cam.com/users/postUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!
I really appreciate how Zak trys to tell people that pit bulls aren't bad! Any breed can be a great dog they just need proper training! I myself have never had a pit bull it has always been German Shepherds, but I still appreciate it!
Harmony Devaney I have a pitbull and I have met many others from family and friends.. in my opinion they are the best dogs ever. Very smart, looks intimidating but are soo sweet and very loyal. Also the thing I love most about my pit is he is very cuddling :)
If this works on my hyper dog, Jasper, I will 100% set up to send monthly tips cause he is such a stress all the time that anyone who is able to help me train him, definitely should be getting money for doing such an amazing job!
why do u bother With this talk? ppl who already think pitbull is Dangerous never gonna change their minds... they are brainwashed from the media and they are retarded,,u cant Cure redardness!
MANoWAR Pitbulls make up 5% of the US dog population, but make up 66% of canines who killed humans in the period 2005-2017 (source www.dogbite.org an organisation that records dog bites and helps victims). I think this is far from being "brainwashed" and in fact I would say you may be either misinformed or a "redard" as you put it. Also saying "you can't cure retardness" whilst using poor spelling, grammar and punctuation is rather ironic. The pitbull is evidently dangerous according to statistics when compared to other dogs and this is not some sort of conspiracy to misinform by the "media" and people who believe the evidence and cold hard facts are "retarded" which is absurd.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else needs to find out about puppy training tips try HowToTrainYourDog5.blogspot.com Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got great success with it.
My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article th-cam.com/users/postUgkxibD_L3sDyYENL5CwePCd9plRBqjzw2mw At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.
I love that you can tell he really loves dogs. Some trainers get so wrapped up in being professional, they start acting kind of cold. Just because you're training him, doesn't mean he isn't a big, goofy cutie that needs kisses.
I’ve had my 2-year old dog for a week and each walk has improved a little but wow our walk today was so good after I watched this video. Thank you! I’ll be checking out some of your other videos now :)
I feel so much smarter after watching this trainer. I fail yesterday with my dog pulling me down the side walk. Blessed not to have gotten hurt when I fell. This guy is someone I will definitely watch again! This is our first dog and he taught me a lot. Thank you so much for your instructions they are wonderful and very helpful!
I started this kind of leash training only four or three days ago with my 7 years old cockerspaniel and I have to say that this is the best method so far and I have tried almost everything before..! He is already understanding this and it is also pleasant way to teach so thank you! Maybe we can finally get rid of barking to other dogs while walking too by using this suprisingly simple style :)
+Soccer9Hope GA No, he still does it but I believe that we just need to work more. But walking nicely without other dogs has improved very nicely - no more pulling untill he sees another dog :"D
How does your dog do now? I'm currently trying this one week with my 7 years old king charles cavalier spaniel. She is now walking on leash without pulling very well untill there comes a distraction, especially other dogs. There has been a lot of progress so far and I want to see if others have older dogs with the same behaviour and made good progress aswell.
I also have cocker spaniel, my is 6 months old and im gonna introduce him to this method, cause i have to say my arm is not made from steel lol. But the thing is, with my dog is hard to go on walk. If i have treat in my heand he will just jump on me and try to take it, so i ahve to be constantly bend to him and it's not realy comfortable
I have watched MANY videos by other "trainers", self proclaimed "dog behavior experts" and so on. I can truly say that only YOU have provided the most knowledgeable, perfect and detailed training tips that actually WORK! With basic common sense and true attention and care to the task at hand. The dog and his learning and growing experience. Positively and thoroughly. I am so thankful for you and your videos. My 2 male litter mates, American Bulldogs are now 8 months old and we have come huge strides with your guidance! I have been watching you since they were 8 weeks old! I wish I could thank you in person!!!
I'd actually like to see a video of you working with a reactive dog. All i've seen so far are videos of you working with dogs that are docile in nature. Reactive dogs are a whole new element and i think a lot of people would benefit from seeing different personalities being worked with.
Blond_Albatraoz _ he just uploaded a video a few weeks back on a very reactive golden retriever. I’ve been following his techniques and they really work. My dog has never behaved better on walkies!!! Going to the park is my next goal.
I agree. Most training videos I've seen are with dogs WAY different than the dog I'm dealing with. I want to see more training with difficult dogs, not the calm, docile or already trained dogs. I want to see how Zac would handle a 14 week old stubborn, hyper-active Vizsla like the one I'm trying to train. Then I could relate and compare to see what I'm doing wrong. I've tried his method but my Vizsla ignores me even while holding treats right under his nose. Might be time to call Cesar Milan.
I had two shelter cats that I dearly loved, then adopted a pocket pittie who had a perfect behavioral score but was out of time, never knew how sweet, gentle, non reactive, dog and even cat friendly a pittie could be, they are so wrongly stigmatized across the board. Thank you so much for showing that these dogs can be wonderful pets
I know! Right? lol Actually, the channel is doing really well right now. The Dog Training Revolution averages nearly 700 new subscribers per day. But of course, I always want to grow and do my best to show people what I know! Thanks for your kind words Kathryn!
@@zakgeorge Hey, my dog is a hunting dog bred to hunt bears so her nose is RIDICULOUS!!! Walking is a challenge because she'll smell something like 500 yards away and sprint. She is sweet and never barks but this is a real problem. Any way you can help? btw I adore ur channel and think that u should have at least 10 mil subs. Wish u weren't so busy so u could actually reply :(. Maybe do a video with an untrained hunting hound? i dunno love ur channel tho and i subscribe
I'm going to be adopting a rescue labrador tomorrow. It's my first time owning a rescue dog (we had a rescue Peek-A-Poo when I was 4) and I've been watching a lot of these videos so I can train him properly. I'm used to training poodles but my first time training a lab. Thanks for making these videos!
We are really enjoying your positive methods and energy. From what I've seen, all the methods correspond (and improve on) what I've learned in a dog behaviour and training course this year. Will be practicing all your advice on our 4 month old rescue pup. Thanks!
My dog is a wired hair terrier and lab mix breed, he is realy crazy and u have helped me a ton with him. You help me so much and you have helped him get used to water. When he did get used to water I was afraid when he did not want to get out of the tub and now when I have free time I can run some water put some of his toys in and he will play and play and play. My dog and I love watching your videos and thank u for your help!!!
what should I do if my dog isn't into food rewards or toys when she's more interested in the surroundings? she will do everything possible to look around me..she's great in the house, really bright and compliant. totally different dog outside!
+Karl Humphreys you have to get your dog used to being outside of the house while on a leash, take them out in the yard or driveway and train. if thats still to far try it in a room with the view of the outside. like he said, unfamiliar = intresting
+ash G. Yes I've tried this and it helped even after one session. getting her attention on me in the garden then going the park had immediate carry over
This is plain training of a dog based on tons of treats. I never train my dog of this way , because I do not start the walk when I am already outside. It starts in the apartment where you constatly have to show your dog who is in charge. If you start the walk outside when the dog has tons of noices and sounds and is more active, when you treat him like that you encourage tons of other behaviours. I treat my dog when I get back home with the food he gets daily, if he was nice, he gets it right away, if he misbehaves and I had to correct him by letting him know he is doing wrong, he only gets meal once he is in the state of mind that I want him to be, which is usually about an hour later from comming back from home. Sometimes even longer. And it works like charm for me. I disagree with tons of treats to give to my dog if he did not deserve it. And no I am not heartless, I just give reward to my dog when he behaves as I'd like him to behave and when he is in mental state I'd like him to be. It is me who gives the reward to dog. It is always me and what I want of my dog to do. It is like negotiating with terrorist. You don't. Otherwise he will keep doing what you don't want. I know people sometimes think it is harsh being of that way to a dog, but you have to remember that dogs come from family of wolves where they can go days without food or water. But that is why we as humans care about them to not get to that point.
I just adopted a 9 month Black Labrador Retriever from our neighborhood Human Society. He's lovable BUT out of control. Your video's are GREAT. Thank you Zak!!
I'm so glad you made this video Zak, I have a 7 month old pitbull and love taking her to walk at the park near my house. The park we walk at is full of kids playing soccer year round and other runners, so she gets really distracted and wants to play and chase them. She isn't violent, she just really loves attention and playing, but with her being a pit, she automatically gets the negative stigma unfortunately. I don't want her to get too close to the kids there at the park because parents automatically freak out and I would hate for us to be banned from the park. I'm going to start incorporating these tips in her training and see how she does! Again, thank you Zak!
Excellent Video Zak! thank you so much for posting such wonderful educational videos. i have a 4 year old Boxer/Lab Mix, and i share all your videos with my Dad. We will sit down and watch 4 or 5 in a row and it has helped us out immensely! the drone footage is really fun to see as well :D
baby pit bull here and it worked wonders it helped me out a lot and she is on her 3rd day with me, your videos helped me a lot with this 9 week old chick magnet
Can you do a video about car safety for dogs? What are the best safety harnesses for car rides? What about small dogs? I can never find any solid information about small dogs in cars
The thing i do with dogs is just put them in the car with windows completely down. Then tell them to stay. Then do your best to lure your dog out the window for like a half second and when they dont jump up or put paws on window edge reward them right away. Its important that the do not put paws up on window ledge as this is the first step of them jumpin out. Keep increasing time you try to lure them out the window. Dont use the word come or what ever word you use for ya dog to come to ya. Use any other word though to try to lure. once your dog absolutely refuses to put its paws even up on the window ledge. Step up the lure to something your dog really likes to chase. BTW dont make the same mistake i did and tie your dog to the inside of your car and leave too much slack. Test to make sure how you secure your dog that the harness wont slip or anything. One time my dog darn near hung herself. I thought i had the lead short enough but when she jumped out the window to go after the deer we were watching she kind of hung herself. I got extremely lucky she did not hurt herself. But that did cure her of wanting to ever jump out of the window after a deer again.
Zak's method is great. He is definitely a pack leader. Slow but steady. The dog might not see him a leader but he corrects the dog with patience and eventually, the dog trusts him and follows.
Ha! He looks like my dog Remi (in my picture) She's extremely high energy 4.5 years... I adopted her from the shelter at 6 months, she was street enchant (hell on wheels). I like to work focus training, then a follow me, reward as she's walking with a loose leash. I change direction, and make it fun, I also stay calm and do not hold the leash with tension on my end. I walk her three times a day, 1 to 2 miles a day. What works is getting the dogs out into new environments every day, and working the cues in high distractions. I pair that with mental and physically stimulation. She has become an awesome trick dog and Frisbee catcher! Thanks Zak!
Thanks for making these videos. I have trained my bud using mostly your videos for guidance. He learned play dead in one night, and speak in no time. We're working on his leash walking now, but off leash he is great! I love these videos. Thanks again. :)
Can you do a video on how to keep dogs from attacking eachother? I just bought a 7 week old golden retriever puppy and my brother bought a 7 week old pit bull and they attack each other anytime they are in the same room together. How can I prevent this from happening?
Love this my trainer told me to quit treating my dog. His behavior went way down. He's getting treated at home and behaving better now. I'm training him on competitive obedience all with treats before our class starts. I'm setting him up to succeed.
I know you probably live somewhere where it never snows or it is never cold, but can you please make a video on how to exercise your dog in those conditions. (BECAUSE I LIVE IN CANADA, THANK YOU).
How cold and what kind of dogs? My Weimaraners love the snow but they also love their jackets when it is cold. Do you like snow? If not, the challenge may not be at the dog's end of the leash ;-)
You can train your dogs to use a treadmill inside. When I was pregnant this is what I did with my boxer and my pit. At first they were both scared of the treadmill but after a few days they loved it! My boxer would get on the treadmill by himself and look at me like "turn it on I'm ready" 😂
I used to live near Lake Tahoe CA and had to deal with 4 feet of snow every winter where even my SUV couldn't get out of the driveway. If you have a smaller breed of dog, you could play fetch with them inside. That's what I've been doing with my Shiba. I also have a cat that likes playing with him that keeps him busy.
Thank you very much Zak! all your videos worked with my dog. Many people asked me if my dog staffi x bull mastiff went to puppy school and I always say no! just your videos, Thanks a lot to teach people how to training dogs. I appreciate it
I'm a young French trainor dogs and I found your video haphazardly , I just I wanted to tell that you do a great job in your way to teach goods things to our friends :) !! I have the same way than you to teach to my dogs and I think every trainers should do the same ! Is natural , funny for them , and work very well !! So thumb up for you from France ;) ! ( sorry for my english :p )
Hey Zak, Thanks for providing such great videos! My boyfriend and I are less than 6 weeks away from picking up our new Mini Aussie puppy and we couldn't be more excited. We both have been watching your videos in preparation for our newest addition to the family and can't freaking wait! I'd love to see you revisit some of the dogs you've worked with in the past, like Calliope and Miss Mae and see how they have been progressing! Looking forward to all the videos to come!
+Jodi Cadman My fiance and I brought home a standard Aussie a year ago - good luck with your Mini! They're wonderful pups! His videos have really been incredibly helpful with our pup.
Thanks dear again. I committed to another post about how to you train them if your pup is not treat motivated. There are alot of people out there have dogs that don't take treats. Thank you 😊
Only just discovered you Zak after getting a new dog. Our old dog was great and well trained but your videos have really helped refresh (and improve massively) on how I train our new dog. Great work sir 👏
I just LOVE your training and I LOVE Jacob😍 I always play fetch before a training session and my dog is now perfect all it takes is a little patience and you will have a great dog!
He has a video on it. Basic manners kinda think. Its like potty training (with children). You eventually pull back on rewards. Potty training is complete he'll by the way.
Absolutely love this video I have a large staffy x who pulls a bit and is out of control with excitement when she comes across other people and dogs. She's very friendly but I would like to take her to the dog beach without her running away and being uncontrollable. I'm definitely trying this technique
LOL I loved Jacob "attacking" you at the end. Gross but fun! Thank you so much for this video. My small dog is a nightmare on walks - but only if we see any other people or dogs. (lol) I think I am on the right track but this video showed me that I need to be moving slower with the training because my dog is a little bit "gifted" with extra attention to things that are none of his business. I always appreciate watching your videos because of your reminders that it's OK to take a few steps backward if necessary, if not achieving the desired results. The last year with my little terror has been filled with failed attempts at different tasks and I so appreciate the reminders that it's OK, just take a few steps back and try again. You have helped me SO much to be patient and accept that it's fine that we're not as successful as I would like. We go back to the drawing board frequently but we never stop trying!
We went to training and all BUT I JUST DID THIS TECHNIQUE LIKE 15 MINUTES AGO AND IT WORKED!!! The first time it worked. Im so happy. I was getting so frustrated and sad because walking her was just not for pleasure anymore. And i actually liked it this time. I counted 3 times where she was pulling a little bit and as soon as I called her name she came back and walked nicely. Thank you so much. I dont know why all the other stuff didnt work (maybe because of the chicken tbh hahaha)
jacob is stunnning!! love this advice. i often used freeze dried beef liver when training my pits to walk. i volunteer for a program at my shelter that works exclusively with the pits to teach them manners and obedience which in turn helps them to get adopted. we use lots of these techniques.
Johnnie Thomas we went through the same thing with our boy King Lou he is now 140 pounds at 16 months when he was only 15 weeks old he was 60 pounds and he just threw his weight around even as a pup he would walk on top of everyone if you were laying down siting it didn't matter we started in our bedroom because he slept their with us any time he would forceful and walk on top of us I would immediately say no and remove him From the bed and once he was calm u would let him back up and i continued to do this each and every time he would In our bed and after a while he got the hang of it when i said no when he was approaching he would imediately stop in his tracks and lay down Because he didn't Wana get put off the bed and from their we used it our living in our family room in really any situation that it called for
How does your dog do on leash? Tell me below! Want more leash walking videos, here's a playlist with various types of dogs: th-cam.com/play/PLMssKIjsDxXkZk77nE0r0sdPoTuuDo-Oh.html
I have a boxer puppy, roughly 3 months old. He gets distracted with leaves and usually tries to chase my other dog who I also let out. This lead him to occasionally pull on the leash or wait for the other dog to come back to the house. When I only took the puppy out, he did a bit better, but still tries to go for leaves and twigs. Any advice?
+Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution Our rescued setter is a serious puller! When I try to stop him on his tracks he keeps pulling and staring at whatever got him distracted and we can just stand there for long minutes without him looking back or easing up on the leash. VERY difficult to get his attention on me, even when nobody's around.
+Eszter Edl I have a beagle/dalmation mix 18 months old. I am working with a trainer and she taught me to hold the leash in my off hand palm down a foot or less from the collar. Keep the dog by your side and walk normally. Hunter was a puller for sure. With this method he instantly starting behaving. I keep the leash loose in my hand until he starts moving in a way I don't want him to. Then I tighten my grip. Have been working with him for 2 weeks like that and it's like night and day. I also bring treats. Puparoni seems to be the treat he can't resist so I use that. Some use a Kong filled with Cheese Wiz and freeze it.
+Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution Really neat video! Like the footage from the drone as well. Great point at 3:55 about adjusting your mindset away from getting somewhere versus having your dog pay attention.
I really take this as a compliment! I'm guessing you are not familiar with Jacob and his situation! Here's a playlist beginning with the day I met him up to this video. He has come a long way. I very much prioritize having "untrained" dogs in my videos and I do it more than any other trainer on TH-cam actually. :) Great to have you as part of our community! th-cam.com/play/PLMssKIjsDxXmP8F3r9Bu8R6d_l4RZp7HD.html
Very good comment, but you should check out more videos, like this ,for an example : th-cam.com/video/U-VY_H_TG_Y/w-d-xo.html This dog,Lafitte went completely crazy(very similar to my own dog outdoor behavior :D),and I really like how Zak approaches him.You can see that he is also lil bit struggling ,but hey who wouldn't?!At the end -good work. It's not easy for his owner Rachel to go for an everyday walk, but she should try to train him when she's got him,not to wait until 3y to pass :/ That's why, many ,tiny easy steps are soooo very important (even if some ppl think they are stupid and unnecessary they aren't!) they will guide you to sure success and happy time with your dog! Regards! :) :) :)
Where are the end results? You spend 8 minutes giving treats to the dog, and only making it half a block down the street. I wanna see the results of this. You walking the same dog down the same street and not having to give him 50 treats just to be good. Most people don't have time to stop and make their dog sit 100 times during a walk. This is impractical. Maybe you should do a before and after. Spend 1 minute walking the dog down the street before any of your training. Then do your whole training spill. Then at the end, walk the dog down the same street without having to stop him numerous times and treating to show an end result.
+Projector Gaming This is the exact problem I am having with my dog. He acts much the same though less hyper about it, always wanting to pull and run to the next interesting thing that I'd be happy to walk over to without him trying to drag me. I tried this same method and it is never ending. You either use an entire chicken to take one walk or he completely ignores you if he knows you don't have treat in hand.
You won't have to do this forever - the key to success is repetition. If you put the time in to training, you will have the easiest time after! I you don't have the time to put into the proper training - perhaps you should reconsider being a pet owner. Animals, like children, require a lot of care and attention while raising/training them!
I am a dog trainer and I use pretty much this same method. Yes you have to do this 100 times and only going one block sometimes. that is what it takes to teach a new concept to a dog, especially when it involves making yourself more interesting than everything else in the environment. You don't have to do this forever.... just however long it takes to teach your dog how to stay with you. it can take as little as days, to weeks, and even months to leash train your dog. If you want results, it takes time and a ton of patience. This is also a great way to bond and build trust with your dog.
these comments are all wrong. this training method is impractical. the dog should never lead the leash, you want to be the leader not the dog. these new modern methods on approaching the dog is also, why they are being euthanized because humans want to treat dogs like humans
Deer Dear yes, dogs are always interested in the most exciting thing, which might be smells around them or objects, you need to make them pay attention to you by using treats. it's not a bad thing.
Deer Dear Well that and he also mentions alot of love and play sessions, he really delves deeper in his book. Just giving something your dog enjoys to get him to always see you as more interesting than his surroundings
Honestly guy...you're a super entertaining fella. But all the dogs you work with are weak low energy omega dogs...You have some great strategies and you're good with dogs but there a large population of people out there that have dogs that will not respond to your "brand of training." The fact that there's so many people coming on your comments and saying your methods don't work says a lot...I think you're misleading a lot of people into thinking that you have some magic "more humane" way of teaching dogs. 4 million dogs end up a shelter every year and it's because people think that they should train every dog like this...
Hi And four million dogs diont end up in shelters and pounds because of him my dog is a terrier lab mix and he is crazy Zak has helped us so much and he will continue to. Promise.!!!!!!!
Lol someone’s doing some projecting and revealing. Did you have trouble training a dog and then wanted to take it to a shelter? Lol. That’s an odd last thought. Only spiritually shit people would take a dog to a shelter if it didn’t learn fetch properly, if you raise it then you likely love it and then you wouldnt mind much. And what do you mean more humane? There’s no reason you would ever need to use anything inhumane on something you love or even care for for that matter. If you love your dog you show it love. If your dogs an idiot it’s cuz your training it to be one haha, or your not giving it what it needs. it’s almost always the owners fault if a dog has issues. Dogs turn out like their owners more often than not anyway, add a few nutty quirks in there. I’ve got my 3rd pit bull but he’s a perfect dewg and very gentle and loving because I raised him with those two things, he never fights and he listens except when there’s a squirrel.
We do an attention game as we watch TV... Food in hands ,stretch hands out and when dog comes and looks in your eyes , instead of food in the hands... We say "yes," gets a treat.... It's fun when you are sitting and gets him to focus like when you are out walking......
hi, Mr. George. I have a two year old, lab/shepherd/rotty mix. he was sent to a shelter because he was "untrainable" his previous owners just wouldn't take the effort. at home he is easy to control, I have trained him with the help of your videos the basics, which his previous owners said he would just not do. anyway, I have tried fervently to help him with leash training, however, he is a big big dog and I'm a medium girl and even when I am in our yard I end up on my back end with leash Burns as he pulls his absolute hardest. I have tried all treats, human and non, all training methods including yours, but with Roscoe I have no control once outside the house. I love him to death, but I want to be able to walk with him without my landing on my back side. I could use your advice! his energy is through the roof and being by a busy highway and in a small town he has no outlet but a walk. please help me! thanks.
Thank you so much for the video! I have a 2 month old mini bulldog and he hates the walk. I really hope this video will help him so we can go to the city and take him for a walk
This is a great video i have the same dog.. And very hard to take her for a walk because of too much pulling and she's very strong and excited all the time. Thank you so much for this video Zak good job!!!
just in time...I've been working with my German Shepherd mix on walking. he's definitely a handful especially when he sees other dogs around. every little tip helps. thank you for the advice
What a Fantastic video! My dog Lola and I just did this exact training for the first time since adoption her ( she has a serious distraction problem). She did great just now! So proud! This guy rocks!
This video was super helpful for my high energy, easily distracted pit/ hound mix! Thank you so much! Now if I can only convince you to use my pupper in one of your videos 🐶❤️😊
Fantastic video. I'm picking up a Bull Terrier next week and I've been binge watching Zak's videos. I think he's one of the best and very genuine. In the video, is Jacob a Pit Bull or an Argentino Dogo? Lovely dog and great temperament.
Zak thanks you so much for these videos, I am a terrible dog trainer, I've had success teaching sit, shake hands, down and stay still working on extended times. I have a little girl Border Collie who is afraid of most everything abuse is suspected and animal services were called because of conditions. That was a year and a half ago and she has made improvements, but I am desperate to see her live without fear as god as my witness I've seen her walking through the house looking around and wagging her tail and almost smiling and a car door closing three houses down sends her into my bedroom and in some cases under the bed. I have trouble walking so their exercise is in the form of walks runs and jogs next to me in my golf cart which in the retirement community I live in is not near as dangerous as it sounds. I would love to see a series of videos working with fearful dogs. My wife and I are the only people she will come to if I sit her down and let someone slowly approach or reach for her she goes limp almost there is no biting only fear or shut down. Just trying to make a happy life for the sweetest dog I have ever had.
My dog is great at heeling, I spent hours and hours with him when he was little. If I'm nervous about going somewhere, or distracted, he'll pull, but it's not too hard to get him back to heel. Only thing is he has a memory like a steel trap, and a terrible death glare. Basically, he knows every single place in town he's seen a dog, even just once. He will look at and pull towards anywhere he's seen a dog, and any dog he sees in the moment, and no matter what kind of food (even real meat) or toy I have, he will completely ignore me and stare at that place/dog. If there isn't a dog somewhere and he's only seen one there once, he might glance at me, and if he's looking at something, I can sometimes get him to sit, but he won't look at me or take food. I have tried everything, and he is very friendly, but he just gets into this stubborn frame of mind whenever he thinks there might be a dog. He will cry once a dog walks away, and he will stop and stare into any house where he thinks there might be a dog. I don't know how to make him stop, if I can't get his attention.
My yellow lab is three months old, he growls and snips at everyone even kids. I’ve been searching a good video to guide me on correcting this behavior.
Hello, Zak! I love your videos. You provide a wonderful service to dog owners. Thank you. My question is in reference to your response to a subscribers question (4 weeks ago) about the use of back-clip vs front-clip harnesses. In your answer, you said, "...when the front clip harness is off, the undesired behavior will return. I want my training to be internalized by the dog, not brought about because of a special collar or harness (since dogs will discriminate and understand when the harness is on or off)" My concern is that I wonder if that would also apply to the use of a long training lease when training your dog to stay close to you and not bolt? Thank you.
Thank you so much for these videos. I have a 6 months old Boston Terrier and thanks to your videos I was able to teach him so much stuff in such a short period of time. However sometimes he struggles with coming when he is called, or listening to me in general when he knows I don't have a treat for him. As soon as he knows I have treats, he behaves and does what I want, but otherwise he often times ignores me and does his own thing. It's so frustrating :(
This might apply: When you're doing training sessions on tricks he already knows start weaning off of them, not every command should be treated and start only rewarding for fast on point behaviours. Keep it positive and encouraging so he doesn't get discouraged when he's not getting a treat for a slow command but rather should do things quicker if he wants the reward. Do longer chains of commands per treats aswell so he has to work for it. This next part which is what you're describing is he knows when class is over so he doesn't have to listen because there isn't a reward. Following the first part you also want to have treats in your pocket at all times, so that actions can be reinforced at anytime with a treat. He'll learn class doesn't have to be in session to know there is a chance of reward if you call. You're likely to follow somebody who might drop a couple dollars now and then down the street, and your dog will feel the same when you could be rewarding at any given time.

Harmo0nta kp
My dog was walking by and heard you say, "Yes! Sit." And he stopped and sat down! 😂😂😂
Lol
Hahhah lol 😂
What a well trained dog!
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else needs to find out about puppy training tips try HowToTrainYourDog5.blogspot.com Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got great success with it.
That’s funny
How to carry 5kg of treats everywhere should be a playlist here.
Ayanda Dube lol, ziplock bags are in my house, car, center table ....etc etc
u could buy a treat bag 2
Haaha
Treat pouch
I use a coin purse.
Did this method work for your dog to stop barking at other dogs, while walking?
+Soccer9Hope GA No, he still does it but I believe that we just need to work more. But walking nicely without other dogs has improved very nicely - no more pulling untill he sees another dog :"D
Neqqu That's a relief because I have two five month old puppies that, hopefully will improve with this method.☺
I’m 2 years late but watch Cesar Milan, he’s really good.
Esraa Naaman Cesar Milan is my favourite I even have one of his books
he cant do that cuz he is only full-positive stuff...that doesnt work with reactive or more dominant breeds(rotties.giant schnauzers etc.)
This guy deserves way more subs and attention
I know! Right? lol Actually, the channel is doing really well right now. The Dog Training Revolution averages nearly 700 new subscribers per day. But of course, I always want to grow and do my best to show people what I know! Thanks for your kind words Kathryn!
+Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution No problem!
I subbed right on the first video I saw of you
+Katz Balbuena Same! i just got a new German Shepherd puppy and I have learned so much!
+Karl Humphreys The better the treat the better the attention; what does your dog really like?
My exact issue!
I just adopted a 9 month Black Labrador Retriever from our neighborhood Human Society. He's lovable BUT out of control. Your video's are GREAT. Thank you Zak!!
This guy must be loaded with chicken
Fuck😂😂 true
+Titan Z if i used dog treats like he was using chicken, my dog would be consuming a whole bag every session with this method.
My Papillon puppy would quickly weigh 80 pounds. It's hard, as even tiny amounts add up for him. Toys and affection come in handy.
Titan Z and p
Lol. So true.
+Aaron Hymes Love hearing this! Thank you!
baby pit bull here and it worked wonders it helped me out a lot and she is on her 3rd day with me, your videos helped me a lot with this 9 week old chick magnet
Can you do a video about car safety for dogs? What are the best safety harnesses for car rides? What about small dogs? I can never find any solid information about small dogs in cars
Becca Lynn
I use the Ezydog Drive harness. You can get them from in small.
Becca Lynn bruh just leash it to the headrest
Becca Lynn yes!
Zak's method is great. He is definitely a pack leader. Slow but steady. The dog might not see him a leader but he corrects the dog with patience and eventually, the dog trusts him and follows.
Jacob:
Can we just walk already damn 😩
Lolol
Thanks Zak!
Thanks my dog (Pug/Beagle mix) pulls constantly he's only about 3 yrs old but I'm gonna work on this with him
I am super glad I found you, I recently got a puppy, and he is now super obedient and well trained thanks to you and your videos, thank you Zak!
I'm happy you make these videos. Your advice actually works and my dog remembers it!!!
When it's really nasty out we go to stores that allow dogs on a leash and walk. Not sure what stores allow that in Canada tho!!
Thank you for posting such videos for dog owners. It's really meaningful! Many owners should visit your videos when they train their dogs.
can you do videos with Brittany dogs?
Zak has such a cheerful personality he deserves way more subscribers
1:34 is the cutest thing ever😍💕
Thank you very much Zak! all your videos worked with my dog.
Many people asked me if my dog staffi x bull mastiff went to puppy school and I always say no!
just your videos, Thanks a lot to teach people how to training dogs. I appreciate it
I love pit bulls they are always amazing pets
I'm a young French trainor dogs and I found your video haphazardly , I just I wanted to tell that you do a great job in your way to teach goods things to our friends :) !! I have the same way than you to teach to my dogs and I think every trainers should do the same ! Is natural , funny for them , and work very well !! So thumb up for you from France ;) ! ( sorry for my english :p )
PLEASE DO A VIDEO WITH A BEAGLE!!
+This'has'random Character's HAHA! I will consider!
Yessss pleasee
yess omg, beagles and other scent hounds are like a whole other animal haha
yes yes yes!
PLEASE. I am getting one in a few weeks and really want a video to help me
Hey Zak, Thanks for providing such great videos!
+Kurichansenpai They are amazing dogs for sure, this will be a whole new energy level for us, but we are totally looking forward to the challenge!
My dog laughed while seeing this video
Thanks dear again. I committed to another post about how to you train them if your pup is not treat motivated. There are alot of people out there have dogs that don't take treats. Thank you 😊
That dog is 10 pounds heavier, when he gets done with his walk
Only just discovered you Zak after getting a new dog. Our old dog was great and well trained but your videos have really helped refresh (and improve massively) on how I train our new dog. Great work sir 👏
I just wanna know how everyone has skinny pits (or even average). Mine is such a fat ass, but so full of energy.
I just LOVE your training and I LOVE Jacob😍
I always play fetch before a training session and my dog is now perfect all it takes is a little patience and you will have a great dog!
Is there a point when you can stop giving treats?
Catherine Chartier its only for 5-6days
He has a video on it. Basic manners kinda think. Its like potty training (with children). You eventually pull back on rewards. Potty training is complete he'll by the way.
Absolutely love this video I have a large staffy x who pulls a bit and is out of control with excitement when she comes across other people and dogs. She's very friendly but I would like to take her to the dog beach without her running away and being uncontrollable. I'm definitely trying this technique
If Jacob's owner had signed up to PetFlow for automatic pet food delivery, they would have more time to train the dog.
The pit bull obviously is aggressive (sarcasm)
+Thaghost32 he needs to put it down /s
Austin
Oh no, castrate him first. Put him in an enclosure.
The most aggressive thing on a pit bull is their damn farts
Your right he should be carful! (Sarcasm)
Kitty R I know mine will by my bench and I’ll have to re rack the weight and leave
DO WITH A JACK RUSSELL
_ Arvoo hyper machine
Hahahaha jack russels arnt dogs those are hyper sonic rabbits
jacob is stunnning!! love this advice. i often used freeze dried beef liver when training my pits to walk. i volunteer for a program at my shelter that works exclusively with the pits to teach them manners and obedience which in turn helps them to get adopted. we use lots of these techniques.
the dog kept pulling, i don't understand the point of the video
Just give him food Its fine then
That's the exact thing I noticed and you were the only person to say anything. His method did not work the Pit Bull was tired.
My grandma loves your videos especially with her new puppy Marley.
how can I teach my dog to stop walking on me? like while I'm laying in bed my dog walks on my body sure as a puppy she was fine but now shes 40 pounds
Johnnie Thomas we went through the same thing with our boy King Lou he is now 140 pounds at 16 months when he was only 15 weeks old he was 60 pounds and he just threw his weight around even as a pup he would walk on top of everyone if you were laying down siting it didn't matter we started in our bedroom because he slept their with us any time he would forceful and walk on top of us I would immediately say no and remove him From the bed and once he was calm u would let him back up and i continued to do this each and every time he would In our bed and after a while he got the hang of it when i said no when he was approaching he would imediately stop in his tracks and lay down Because he didn't Wana get put off the bed and from their we used it our living in our family room in really any situation that it called for
I am gonna use all of ur videos for my new dog thanks very much ur a good dog trainer
Is it sad when a dog can catch better than me
Thank you I’m glad you’re showing all of that. That’s what I am experiencing right now with my
How does your dog do on leash? Tell me below! Want more leash walking videos, here's a playlist with various types of dogs: th-cam.com/play/PLMssKIjsDxXkZk77nE0r0sdPoTuuDo-Oh.html
I have a boxer puppy, roughly 3 months old. He gets distracted with leaves and usually tries to chase my other dog who I also let out. This lead him to occasionally pull on the leash or wait for the other dog to come back to the house. When I only took the puppy out, he did a bit better, but still tries to go for leaves and twigs. Any advice?
+Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution
Our rescued setter is a serious puller!
Some use a Kong filled with Cheese Wiz and freeze it.
i cannot do what you did
+Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution Really neat video! Like the footage from the drone as well. Great point at 3:55 about adjusting your mindset away from getting somewhere versus having your dog pay attention.
Thank you so much for all the helpful videos on dog training, we just got a border collie mix and your videos have helped us train her.
I love this guy. My dog pulls me off my feet and since she is the same breed as Jacob, this really helps.
To take a trained dog and "train" it is easy :). How about using real untrained dog in your videos.
Very good comment, but you should check out more videos, like this ,for an example :
th-cam.com/video/U-VY_H_TG_Y/w-d-xo.html
This dog,Lafitte went completely crazy(very similar to my own dog outdoor behavior :D),and I really like how Zak approaches him.You can see that he is also lil bit struggling ,but hey who wouldn't?!At the end -good work. Regards! :) :) :)
I love your professionalism towards her comment.
+Greg Savage I agree. I love the way Zak took care of that.
same here I see the techniques using to reinforce dogs behavior can go in hand with rude people as well cheers.
Great you are here, best advice after many previous searches
You should not get a dog if you do not have time to train properly. No half ass in between training. If you want a fully obedient dog, you need time.
I commented to thank you for your help. My puppy is a piranha and you helped me start to fix that.
so you basicly need treats to train your dog since they dont care if you have nothing to offer..
Deer Dear yes, dogs are always interested in the most exciting thing, which might be smells around them or objects, you need to make them pay attention to you by using treats. it's not a bad thing.
would you work if you didn't get anything for it?
Deer Dear Well that and he also mentions alot of love and play sessions, he really delves deeper in his book. Just giving something your dog enjoys to get him to always see you as more interesting than his surroundings
I love this. And a great example for me who owns a pitmix and acts just like Jacob!
Alan Lee preach!
Um, what?
What bullshit is this
We do an attention game as we watch TV...

Thanks so much! I'm pregnant and me and my dog did not have a pleasant experience walking to say the least. This helps a lot :)
What a Fantastic video! My dog Lola and I just did this exact training for the first time since adoption her ( she has a serious distraction problem). She did great just now! So proud! This guy rocks!
Love your videos
Your the man
Great work with all the animals you come across
Jacob is such a handsome boy! Good work with him and thanks for helping remove the bad stigma towards pitbulls.
Hey Zak it's awesome man to see u in action! Watching ur videos has given me much clarity and confidence to adopt a pet. Kip going.
I luv ur methods and videos
This is great I will be trying this with my dog. She 10 months old pitbull. Beautiful dog
i like your videos because they are really helpful.
And it is pleasure to listen you because your pronunciation is very clear.
You make it look so easy Zac but your tips and tricks really work! That dog Jacob is beautiful
Thank you.
good
This method tooked me 1 week to get working, it works !
You are very good with the dog, thanks for your video.
Love your videos Zak. Thanks for giving us several ways to support your content!
Fantastic explanation. Well done
Thanks so much this was your most helpful leash training video! :)
ZakGeorge your videos are awesome will try them tomorrow hope they will work!
