Great video. How can a dash-cam not have night vision? Who drives only in the daytime? Winter time it gets dark early.

Well 1 unit is. 1/3 price of F790 and the other unit is 2/3 the price. They have tio cut features somewhere.

Considering the price the f70 is not a bad cam.

Hi, I have a F200 pro, all the recording is ONLY 1 min max, how can I increase to at least 3 min or more? Thanks.

    • @SafeDriveSolutions

It does not have that option on Thinkware dash cams

You can join the 1 min clips together with third party software but they really should have included this feature in their own software

Thanks for the review, on the F790 how do you disable the wifi, as I wouldn't want 5ghz(or 2,5ghz) blasting my head when it is only a couple feet away, does it have to be done through the desktop app or is there an external button on the unit( I think the Viofo have an external button). How is the license plate capture in parking mode for the 790 and 200. What diameter cable is used for the rear camera. Is the Q1000 model better than the F790?

You have to turn the wi-fi on manually by pushing a button. If you do not push it. It does not turn on. License plate capture in parking mode on a 1080p dash camera. really depends on the incident. It is 1/4 size of video than a 4K dash camera. Which is why we are finding most of our clients are going to 4K now. We are probably going to discontinue carrying 1080p dash cameras when our 3 remaining units are gone.

@@SafeDriveSolutions How is the Q1000 model. I'm just looking for basically parking lot monitoring, a lot of old people at my golf course and around town(Qualicum and in Nanaimo), haha. I like thinkware(have an older model in one of the cars) and I like the parking monitor features and less current draw, good for long parking stays when on a wk vacation south. Don't know if I really need to spend 2x for the U3000's specs.

After looking over all of the options for Thinkware models F790, q1000,u1000,u3000, for the money the u3000 looks like the best deal for the in-the-box features like radar in parking mode etc. Cost is just as much for the u1000 + radar module as the u3000.

In the thinkware PC app there is a "brightness" setting which can be set to to low, middle or high, and this seems to control the camera's exposure setting. Default is middle, but if you want more details in the highlights choose low. On top of this if you use the polarizing filter it will lower it even further. Detail in the shadows won't be as good though. But it auto adapts to the lighting conditions so its not a disaster. I still am not sure if I will use middle or low, need to do some more testing on my F70.

The F70 does not seem to have loop recording to be able to keep the a same SD card in and copy over continuously.

It should have loop recording. My dash camera F70 i have sitting here for testing did.
