Wow you are so talented and really creative I wanted to ask if I want to make a smaller snowman how to do this because we are just a few people and it is not a lot of people who will eat the cake
Hi Dan! I more of what you call a "Nailed It" baker lol, love to bake, just pretty sure I suck at it lol. My question is what is piping gel and is it ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY? I've never heard of it...THANK YOU for your time! Love u by the way!
HI Ashley! Piping gel is like very thick, gelled corn syrup. Here its used to act like sugar glue. If you dont have piping gel you could also use a touch of water or corn syrup. Happy Baking!!
what kind of cakes do you use? and do you have a recipe for them? And would a betty crocker cake mix work? I'm planning/hoping on making this for my daughter's birthday party. I love your cakes by the way!
Hi There!! I used a mixture of vanilla and red velvet layers here, 6" rounds. Most cakes, including cake mix, would work. Just make sure that your cakes are chilled for easier carving. Good luck!! ~Dan
I do recommend using the rice cereal as it is easier. You could use a 4" sphere cake pan, but you'd have to be very careful to not crush the cake when adding the hat and facial details. If you try it with cake let us know. Enjoy! ~Dan
Hi Dan, great job on this! How long in advance can I make the bottom? 3 days too much, crumbed and kept sealed in fridge? And then put it all together like 1 day or 2 days before serving?
Hey Mark! I refrigerate my cakes after decorating. If cakes droop it is usually them settling. A few things. Use a less airy cake, or fill your cakes with buttercream then wrap them in plastic wrap and place a cake board then a block of butter on top. Basically weight them before crumb coating to cause them to 'settle' before decorating. Also, make sure your filling and frosting isn't too soft.

Love it! I'll definitely try it. Do you know what the European equivalent of piping gel is please?

Looks amazing! The texture tip was great, would it work to make the head out of cake too or do you recommend using rice crispy treat?

Hello! Should be fine, but the fresher the better! just try to bake and crumb coat the same day to keep the freshness sealed in. Happy Holidays!
So darn cute!!! Did you add butter to your marshmallows for the rice crispy treat head? Or just marsh and cereal?
Thank you! Just rice cereal and mallows! ;)
Do you freeze your cakes after finished or refrigerate? If I do my cakes to much in advance they tend to droop a little. Why do you think this is?
