    I feel awful for Eric. Unfortunately, it seems like a near impossibility to get this reversed. He seems like a really bright guy and hopefully can find other ventures to put his talents in to. The Air Force doesn't deserve you. Wishing him the best.

      Yeah he sounds fucked. He was supposed to alert his command when all this messed up stuff happened so they could handle it but he watched it happen and the became the narc for OSI, which not only got the individuals in trouble but made the command look bad and they are going to punish him for allowing it to happen. The command is going to state that he was obligated to report this to them immediately and not play undercover agent because he was basically watching it go down and then narcing later. So as much as it makes sense on a legal level to gather evidence and punish the bad guys, he was obligated to call it out and try to stop it immediately. It is nice that he caught the bad guys but the moment he didn't report it to his command he became a suspect who allowed it to happen.

I guarantee that they would love to do an airforce whistleblower gets forced out of the service. Snitches get stitches, or at least discharged...
      there is one big downside to this approach though, It would create even more drama around the issue, which, would make his life in the service harder IDK how big of an affect this would have... The other big issue is that there is currently a writers strike going on. SO, idk how that affects the show

    The internal politics roadblocking the right thing being done are what makes a good military weak, from the inside out. I am not a veteran, but I see veterans talking about this kind of stuff constantly. You do the right thing and make the wrong person look less good, and you miraculously end up working sanitation for the rest of your contract.

This dude literally spent multiple years informing on his squad mates and thought he was going to have a career in the service?? No chance. I would feel differently if he just happened to witness an SA or whatever and then became a witness, but the general AS does not want you if you cannot be trusted - and becoming what is essentially a mole for OSI will NOT do you any favors unless you happen to finagle a position specifically through your work with OSI.

      @@Bori.1776 Yeah it can definitely be like that and people feel disillusioned by it...but the federal government has made serious changes from the top down to cut this kind of BS out... notice how the clown in the video refused to talk about the whistleblower. He knows damn well he's being watched too..if he runs his mouth in a stupid way, they won't hesitate to make an example of him...and they have been doing it a LOT over these last 5-7 years. I think the government realizes that in our current society a 3-5 star general is no where near as important as he would have been 25-50 years ago. Automation, technology, advanced weaponry has changed the entire face and scope of the military. When incidents like this happen, it turns away potentially thousands of not 10s of thousands of people possibly looking to enter the armed forces. They recognize that now and will axe a top level guy like he was nothing if it means saving recruitment numbers. There's a really good documentary that goes into the social make-up of today's military vs how things were just back when the first Iraq War happened. I was actually quite shocked..but it is for the better good. They're trying hard to eradicate that "good ole boys" club mentality where if you don't conform to them, you get ostracized and singled out.

I was getting interviewed for information on this airman that had sexually assaulted a girl in my flight because I was at the base club at the same time as him swearing I knew intimate details about him after 2 months on station. Then years later my best friends were abusing OTC cough meds and when one went to get help about it, they all ended up under investigation, one friend cut a deal where he would get to stay in if he informed on the others, then after he complied 100% and sealed the case for them he also got a less than honorable discharge.

    These people are officers of the military before they are doctors or lawyers

    Dude the military is politics and if he was in ocs he knows that. Also, yea it's a bad idea to force the military to let you back I by "exposing" a wrongdoing of theirs. • @chrislastname1994
      @chrislastname1994 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ericthomas3239 that's a noble idea and worth attempting. In practice it doesn't work that way. Firstly, in order to really be in a position to change anything you have to be in the top brass. Secondly, the issue with this particular situation is regardless of whether it was the moral thing to do or not he is a snitch now. That will always cause problems and especially in an organization like the military. Honestly if there were a guy like that in my unit I would be happy he did the right thing but I wouldn't trust him anymore.
      Also, let's not forget this is the academy and while it's still part of the military it's not the same as the larger entity. I'm not saying there aren't issues there as well but it's a weird thing to try and navigate.

    • @ericthomas3239
      @ericthomas3239 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrislastname1994 FYI, I'm the "Eric" of the story lol. I hear you man and you're not entirely wrong when it comes to "change from within begins with the top brass" I agree with you. Working my way to said portion to cause some positive change is slim, I agree. But that doesn't mean It isn't worth trying. If more did, maybe we'd be a little bit better today then we were yesterday. As for the "snitch" label, I'm hoping Destiny allows me back on to clear up some things. I understand where you're coming from ( assuming you served ) but trust is earned and from squamates to strangers, from active duty officers / enlisted and retired, there isn't a total loss of trust. I never went around "snitching" like some criminal Netflix series. If that was the case, there are and have been many things I could've and could still say but that's stupid and does no good at the end of the day -- especially if you're smart about being dumb which I'm guilty of too. I only stood/stand by " Hey, don't r*** women" and if someone calls me a snitch for that then I'll own it.

    • @chrislastname1994
      @chrislastname1994 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ericthomas3239 yea I did serve and I guess I was lucky cause I was never witness to anything besides average horseplay and drinking. That being said none of the guys/girls around me would stand by and let something like sa happen. I get that it does I struggle to accept that it's a widespread thing.
      You have to look at this from the global perception to an extent. There are things that we should change but weighing that against the larger picture gets kind of murky. It's like in order to fix a problem you have to acknowledge said problem. That entails a whole lot of bad things for the person or persons who do it. It also stains the organization as a whole. So the end result may be better conditions but there will be a storm in the interim. Right or wrong that's just the way it is.
      I don't mean you're a snitch in the sense of the old crime show. It's not said as a pejorative. A lot of the time it's a deal with in house type of thing. So when you have someone who is working outside of the house it feels weird. I'm not saying what you did was wrong or that you are untrustworthy. However, you must understand how those actions would alienate you. Think of it like this, a friend of yours tells you that your gf is cheating on you with a guy. Most people wouldn't be mad at them for doing the right thing and telling you, but there is a subconscious part that resents them for breaking the facade. You wouldn't normally stop being friends with that person, but there would be an awkwardness there. This is why most people aren't immediately sure whether they should spill the beans.
      Lastly forcing your way back in is likely to very uncomfortable for you. It might be the case that you succeed and it all works out. However, it might also be the case that you succeed and are met resentment and struggle. You need to honest with yourself and come to terms with the possibility of either outcome. I hope it works out for you though man and I wish you good luck.
