The tipping point for me, circa anti-sjw youtube, was a debate destiny did called something like "destiny vs the world". I followed a lot of AntiSJW bloodsports people at the time and I probably wasn't bought into the their world view all the way. It was watch bloodsports, then watch TYT - and TYT kept making me really angry but bloodsports was engaging and cathartic. So yeah, when destiny did that debate, it was the first time I got that catharsis from someone I more closely aligned with. And its a good job he showed up when he did, I might still be watching TYT.

Those things are interesting and I think there is a space for them in these discussions but Vaush is pretty hardcore in terms of his adherence to utilitarianism. I don't know if he's a liar, so I can't say for sure whether or not he lies to try and win debates, but I think Vaush is more interested in pulling people over towards what he perceives as good politics rather than being technically correct or deep dive into these philosophical ideas that I imagine he thinks the layman isn't interested in. If I were to be charitable, I think people like Vaush have calculated that conservatives, and I think even Destiny would agree, do not care about correctness or debating in good faith. Despite not doing so, they are very politically effective and are able to mobilize people and political movements. I think Vaush probably believes that he is debating and acting in as good faith as possible, while also recognizing that it isn't necessary to do those things to create an effective political movement. I recall Destiny and Vaush debated on this very subject about misinformation and Destiny seemed to be of the opinion that lefties who put out misinformation, regardless of whether or not it was intentional was overall a bad thing for progressive policy. And I don't think I agree. I personally don't think the correctness of information to push people towards political ends we feel to be good is harmful to the overall movement. In fact, I think just because someone like Philosophy Tube might not be great at what she does, she exposes people to a political wing that I am more agreeable towards, and therefore are exposed to people like Vaush, like Destiny, like the Majority Report. The alt-right pipeline, except instead it's the left wing pipeline. I got introduced to progressive politics because of Kyle Kulinski, and even though I have massive disagreements with him now, I wouldn't be where I am without me being exposed to his content. So I think his place in this space is a net positive.

I think everybody cares what everyone thinks. It’d be harmful to society if they didn’t. Having said I think it becomes a matter of how much do you let other people’s opinions affect you in a negative way. I think the best way to tackle this is to learn a job or skill that makes you valuable to society. This makes you less dependent on deriving your self worth from the validation of others socially. For example- say a plumber goes to a party, he’ll have an easier time being himself because he can tell himself, it doesn’t matter if these people think I’m cool because my skills are valuable and needed and therefore my life already has value Anyway that’s just my take, good luck to you man

@@brotherbrod This might be a critical flaw, but at least in my perspective, I don't think Vaush is super interested in debating theory, or ethics, or philosophy. Those things are interesting and I think there is a space for them in these discussions but Vaush is pretty hardcore in terms of his adherence to utilitarianism. I don't know if he's a liar, so I can't say for sure whether or not he lies to try and win debates, but I think Vaush is more interested in pulling people over towards what he perceives as good politics rather than being technically correct or deep dive into these philosophical ideas that I imagine he thinks the layman isn't interested in.
If I were to be charitable, I think people like Vaush have calculated that conservatives, and I think even Destiny would agree, do not care about correctness or debating in good faith. Despite not doing so, they are very politically effective and are able to mobilize people and political movements. I think Vaush probably believes that he is debating and acting in as good faith as possible, while also recognizing that it isn't necessary to do those things to create an effective political movement.
I recall Destiny and Vaush debated on this very subject about misinformation and Destiny seemed to be of the opinion that lefties who put out misinformation, regardless of whether or not it was intentional was overall a bad thing for progressive policy. And I don't think I agree. I personally don't think the correctness of information to push people towards political ends we feel to be good is harmful to the overall movement. In fact, I think just because someone like Philosophy Tube might not be great at what she does, she exposes people to a political wing that I am more agreeable towards, and therefore are exposed to people like Vaush, like Destiny, like the Majority Report. The alt-right pipeline, except instead it's the left wing pipeline. I got introduced to progressive politics because of Kyle Kulinski, and even though I have massive disagreements with him now, I wouldn't be where I am without me being exposed to his content. So I think his place in this space is a net positive.

I think everybody cares what everyone thinks. It’d be harmful to society if they didn’t. Having said I think it becomes a matter of how much do you let other people’s opinions affect you in a negative way. I think the best way to tackle this is to learn a job or skill that makes you valuable to society. This makes you less dependent on deriving your self worth from the validation of others socially. For example- say a plumber goes to a party, he’ll have an easier time being himself because he can tell himself, it doesn’t matter if these people think I’m cool because my skills are valuable and needed and therefore my life already has value

I would love to retire the word "cringe" to describe lame things. Just hearing or reading it makes me think of these cheesy e celebs now. I just want to hear different opinions about topics and I have to sit through a lot of nonsense to get to it.
Im a normal working dude. I dont have extreme views. My moms gay my dad religious (theyre divorced) Ive been born to be someone fairly in the middle i guess. Socially im left but like old school liberal, progressives seem crazy to me. I believe in the 2A and constitution. People like vaush and hassan just seem to me like incredibly well off suburban progressives with unrealistic world views. I think alot of americans are like that now. Think some parents do a bad job of raising their well off kids. Maybe their grifters but anyone who takes them seriously or even listens to them is probably well off too. I dunno if shit pops off for real in the U.S. theyll be the ones to fold and do nothing. Respect people who live by values even if they may be diffrent from yours.

A lot of conservatives and redpilled tune in to hear Destiny because most of the other arguments from most other leftists are childishly asinine and devoid of logic so there is no room there to develop your way of thinking when you never get challenged on your own beliefs.
Hence the classic "I disagree with Destiny on a lot" but his arguments are compelling and makes you think and often makes you alter your beliefs which is a good thing in life.
