Combat had weight, driving mechanics were perfect, vehicle combat was smooth and simple. One of my favorite games of all time. Really needs a sequel of sorts
@@Vikas_N0 Unfortunately it looks like it will be. This game reminded me of what game releases used to be like. Full game, no microtransactions, just a complete game from start to finish. If this game was released today there would be a battlepass with all of the best looking stuff locked behind a paywall
Possibly the most underrated game ever. This is a game that I played when it came out and it just kept getting better and better for me as it went. I ended up putting almost 2 weeks of in-game playtime into it. The more you explore the cooler it gets, some of the best open world side content I've ever played. Late into the game I was driving deep into the open desert far away from any main story missions or visible content at all, and I found an entire fucking airport buried under the dessert! The only thing visible is small opening that looks like a small cave or hideout and it's a whole damn airport. Awesome game, incredible character progression in terms of Max's look, fighting abilities and especially the all the amazing car upgrades. Also love the quality of life improvements over time like having bases refil ammo, water, and gas if you complete different side quests for characters at each base, as well has gaining the ability to have any dropped scrap automatically picked up for you by the game so you don't have to walk around and pick it up yourself. Ffs the game starts with Max driving a chainsaw into the head of the main villain of the game, he survives, leaves it in his head, decorates the fucking thing with skulls and shit, and has a rematch with Max where ... [SPOILER] Max kills the guy at the end by pulling the fucking chainsaw blade back out of the dudes skull, which was the only thing holding his skull and his brain together anymore causing it to collapse on itself. 10/10 would roam wasteland again
In 2015 i turned off my PS3 and purchased a PS4 with Mad Max as my first game. I didnt care about the reviews at the time. This game was Twisted Metal with RPG elements and fun fighting. I recently installed it on my PS5. It still holds up. I also installed it on my gaming laptop back in 2021. 😅 Great game
I agree with your review. Car driving and combat is awesome and easily the best part of the game, the worldbuilding and lore you find is great, but it starts feeling very repetitive before long... especially the on-foot exploration segments. Outside of the main story missions, most of my time with this game just blurs together in my head, with few standout memorable moments. Also, once you've beaten the main story and cleared out the map, there's not really anything left to do. You could upgrade your car to the max, but there's not much of a point since there's hardly any enemies left on the map to fight by then. When you destroy those convoys roaming the map, they're gone for good. That's a real shame, because attacking those huge convoys is the most fun part of the game. I am glad I played it though, and I would recommend everyone at least try to finish the main campaign. Also, it's heavily discounted whenever it goes on sale. If you can get it for like $5 like I did, it's very much worth trying out.
Like you said. This game knows what it wants to be. And because of that, the world and its ideas are delivered really well. This is one of those games that will always hold up through time. Its still beautiful and still plays really well. If i could get a sequel to any game right now, it would probably be this. The world of Mad Max is video game heaven.
That was a really well done video with good audio and ingame footage. I played the game in 2017 and can absolutely agree with you. I am almost tempted go give it just another try with my new laptop that is not a potato from 2012…
This is one of my favorite games. SO underrated. Fighting is great, driving is great, driving combat is great, the story and world is engrossing as well. It's cheap now, no brainer to get if you like open world games.
Literally just finished this game last night, very underrated. Only thing I disliked were the requirements to lower levels in certain areas before you were able to do story missions. Other than that the game is fire, I kinda blow burned the game over the years before just binge playing it recently so I was focusing onto the main missions, but I think I’m gonna go finish up the side missions as well. Glad I’m not the only one who thought this was underrated. Great vid bro.
I played this game this year first time ever, and could not put it down. I consider myself a Mad Max fan, and I can say this is one of my fav. open world games of all time. We need a new MM game!
Loved this game. Would've 100% it but can't find one collectible in that underground city at the end. The strorms are amazing. First one i was in blew me away. I like playing with the sound turned up and it sounded like i was in a cat 5 hurricane.
Just bought this after waiting and forgetting about it. Havent played it yet but i cant wait! I feel like its gonna be like the newest lords of the fallen, where i also waited on it but recently played through it and absolutely loved it despite all the haters.
currently playing again since the last time i played when it came out. im loving this game so much and remembering how awesome it was/is. if we can get a game where george miller comes in and works on it, that would be ideal. i know the story behind how WB cut him out to focus on the movie, but maybe since Furiosa didnt do well in the box office, they end up making a game instead of Mad Max: The Wasteland.
I have been playing this game for many years and still love it. I fell in love with Mad Max years ago and I still love this universe. This game is a very underrated title, but I understand why; it's missing something beyond the main plot. I would like to wait for the time when the second part of this game will appear, more refined in every aspect, but it probably won't happen :(
Not only did I sleep on it, I’m fairly sure it was free with either plus or gold and in my library but honestly it’s catching hype now and does look really good... I just think open world fatigue is and has been real for a little while. That’s probably why it got skipped by people. I’ll probably give it a go after seeing actual gameplay.
I know right?! Crazy how a small channel can get some traction with a timely upload. Very grateful for the all of the kind comments and seeing likeminded views on the game.
Miller wasn’t happy because at one point, Fury Road wasn’t going to happen and WB gave the concept art and other stuff to Avalanche to make a game, which is why Fury Road and this game seem so similar. But Miller is also not a gamer and this game was excellent
The wind storms got to be a bit annoying. You'd be really into the game and then suddenly you have to get under a roof and just lay down the controller for five minutes til it passes.
I would love to see this game revisited, perhaps with an original story, (maybe centering around an aging Max ala Old Man Logan). Just think what could be done with all the improvements to open world games since then
I remember reading that the devs planned (& wanted) to hav the game end on a cliffhanger (plus i think the wife & child weren't supposed to die or at least not yet) & make a sequel, but someone canned that & had them make it a 1-off so the devs intentionally half-ass the last bit off the game since they weren't able to do wat was originally planned (I also think a bunch of the devs grew up on the original Mad Max movies & were big fans & that's probably why they were very upset that they weren't allowed to do more in it)
Game goes hard, I gotta admit I like it next to Fury Road as the best Mad Max stories, I like Road Warrior and Mad Max but I actually prefer the game to those two films and prob like it just as much as Fury Road.
what about the settlements that provide you scraps automatically, does it still work , because i heard after they took down the servers in 2020 it has become very difficult to collect scrap from settlements and the improvement of these settlements is almost useless and a waste of scrap ? thank you
Such a cool game. They apparently had a bunch of dlc held back too and ready to go. It felt a tad unfinished in the world itself but it didn’t hinder it from being a great game!
Got platinum In this game and completed the story many times In different ways, like maxing the magnum opus with v6 before the gastown race. I always thought the game was a bit too easy, gas and shotgun ammo was too easy To get and find, water and food was just To replenish health and also a bit too easy To find, and you being the only one In the world with a handgun. The game lacked imo the feel and threat of being In the wasteland and slowly running out of those resources and when you actually ran out of gas your car just moves In crawling speed. The story was fun and some of the side missions but To max out magnum opus and 100% the game it gets too repetive when you are just destroying one camp after another with different layouts but almost the same enemies and same level difficulty with few exeptions.
Criminally underrated game. I’ve played the full game 4 times. Love the fighting mechanics…simple but satisfying. Akin to Batman Arkham series. The driving is great and upgrades are deep. Also love that the story is ripped directly from GM.

It looks very cool. Never played it yet but, a question: will there come a PS5 version upgrade? If there is a PS4 version I can ofcourse also play that
Good game in places. We should really think of doing an MMO called Mad Max - Warlords of The Wasteland. Where you must also care after your physical and mental state. With permadeath. If your mental state degrades to derranged you will become a Dust Dweller an urban legend sub-human and you will be lost to the Wasteland.
There's no way to make an mmo as good as a single player. It will devolve into stretching it's playtime out by making you grind for stuff by repeating the same thing over a million times . Plus you have to balance pvp
@@TeboShepherd good point. But if you got the interest you could get the funding to do it. Just no overambitious indie studio. PVP could be a problem. You could involve a Turf war mechanic that issues a challenge to another creating a split-lobby it is highly problematic to be sure
I was confused on whether this is an adaption of the original movies, Fury Road, or attempting to blend influences of both? Did they even try to make Max look half way between Mel Gibson and Tom Hardy a bit? I'm disappointed the game only has cars from what I can see in gameplay? No big trucks or Semi-Trucks? I'm a truck driver IRL :) and loved the vehicle combat scenes in Fury Road as well as The RoadWarrior. I dunno though, even in the movies, a Semi-Truck usually had a crew of people on it fighting and defending, so maybe the Devs thought that was to complicated.
The main thing that turned me off it back in the day was it looked quite arcadey. The amount of UI elements, clutter, silly effects, health bars, the fact you can only run rather than walk and you can just run and run against obstacles like a 90's game. I need a reasonable level of grounded practicality to become immersed in stuff, all of the above is quite similar to why I could never get into the Arkham series too. I would bloody love for there to be a more grounded and realistic Batman game series akin to the more recent 'The Batman'.
I also played the game for the first time in 2024, but, stopped when I realized that the only way to finish the game was those idiotic car races (I had finished as much as I could without the car-race progression). I give it 4/5, even with having to stop playing.
Man. This game is a GEM, and holds up great. The atmosphere, the gameplay, the world building and lore. Storm mechanic 👌🏾😭 BUZZARDS 👀😖.... CREEPY AF. GREAT GAME... if you love the MAD MAX Universe. This is the no Brainer
...best $5 I ever spent...this my 4th time playing it...read the Scrotus and Hope and Glory bios...Dementus, bruh!...Glory is his daughter, Mrs. Giddy is Hope's mom...the little girl Max sees in Fury Road is not his daughter, it's Glory!...*head explodes*...is Little D a reference to Glory in Furiosa?...who knows...
Started playing it again this week after all these years. Yeah it’s an awesome game. But I think the hideouts lack being memorable. They all look samey samey brown-ness which is natural being a wasteland made out of metal scraps but it suffers because of this. The fury road movie was bursting with colour and memorable locations. And Max’s voice actor was poor. Chum is the highlight character.
George Miller didn’t like the game that much by the sound of it. They used a lot of his ideas without his consent. Not that they need it, but still that’s bad form imo. You have this mother and daughter in the game and their story is similar to the canon version you can read in a comic. But that’s like an example of ideas they took of George. He actually wants Kojima to make a Mad Max game. And judging by Kojima’s reaction to Furiosa I’m sure he would be willing to do it.
Honestly found it overrated. For a movie video game it’s good, but it’s not all that. Can’t complain too much though because when it goes on sale for 5 dollars, it’s worth it. 6/10. Love Mad Max though.

I found the story to be better than any of the movies.
Played this game years ago 100% completion. I hope Avalanche or someone else makes a sequel.
Put it on my wishlist.
WB will just drop the mad max universe now that Furiosa bombed so bad
This game has no business being as good as it is.
To be honest this is more like the 80s movies. Not the new ones. Lmao.
I own and love this game.
I really like this game! 👌💙
Absolutely fantastic game!
It really is!
Goes to show how Metacritic scores do not matter
Truth
Combat in Mad Max features mechanics inspired by Assassin's Creed (before Origins) and Batman, borrowed from Assassin's Creed.🤷♂
I’ve played this game at least 10 times a year since it was released 😂
George Miller didn’t like the game that much by the sound of it. They used a lot of his ideas without his consent. Not that they need it, but still that’s bad form imo. You have this mother and daughter in the game and their story is similar to the canon version you can read in a comic. But that’s like an example of ideas they took of George. He actually wants Kojima to make a Mad Max game. And judging by Kojima’s reaction to Furiosa I’m sure he would be willing to do it.
Best game effer I play it for 9 years
Honestly found it overrated. For a movie video game it’s good, but it’s not all that. Can’t complain too much though because when it goes on sale for 5 dollars, it’s worth it. 6/10. Love Mad Max though.
