The original album version is a bit more furious imo, for lack of a better term. After the final solo, the last 45 seconds or so (of the original studio version) is just pure, aggressive, hardcore speed metal.
Cool guy! Saw them at Mod Club in Toronto.....he threw his beer out in the crowd, I caught it...downed it...then he shook my hand for a great catch lol I was right at the stage obviously lol! LOL What a great show!

Beherit, Mysticum, Abruptum, Graveland, Abigor, Gehenna, Gorgoroth, Helheim, Ildjarn, Kampfar, Manes, Thorns and Ulver are all fine examples of what this scene was meant to be. Actually, Burzum's song "War" is a diverted cover version of Root's "Pisen pro Satana" from the 1990 album "Zjeveni". This song has again been covered by Nargaroth in "Black Metal ist Krieg" multi-dedicated compilation.

Destruction may be classified as a Thrash band, but they are truely one of a kind. Noone could ever sing like Schmier did/does, and noone shreds/rips/solos like Mike does. Only question I have is, why did Harry Wilkens play the intro?

@NIKKTHRASH Sì la gente che c'è dietro lo supporta, è vero che questa situazione è la migliore affinchè la musica rimanga incontaminata da operazioni commerciali che la renderebbero inutile. Spero di vederli live, i Protector! Innanzitutto spero che in italia passino i Sodom con i Destruction per il 30esimo "compleanno", se si portano dietro qualche gruppo tedesco come Protector o Minotaur (di cui ancora devo sentire l'ultimo God may show...ecc.) sarebbe grandioso!

In my opinion, soundwise, Black Metal should be as cold and desolate as it can be. Speed is not that much important, but menacing pace, pitched chords and a powerful grim voice can be essential to give that feel of coldness. Political, religious or social arguments in lyrics should be taken by each one's own mind account. Immortal (None Colder!!!), Darkthrone (Grim Cold!), Emperor (Majestic Coldness!) and Enslaved (Ice Cold!!!) are my own Unholy Pantheon of Grimness. ~"V"~ New World Order ~"V"~
