I know dearest is a song about Kikyo but I can't help but think about Inuyasha's mother when I hear this because she always referred to Inuyasha's father as "My Dearest."

I have always been into anime. Starting from Samurai pizza cats in the early 90's to Monster Rancher to Pokemon, when i was 5 or 6...
But,... Inuyasha revitalized my love for anime waaaaay back when it was airing.....I would use my vcr to record every episode.......

simply and utterly amazing your singing is so inspirational here you are nailing it so hard and the lyrics you chose to go with I especially like I have never thought of this as a Kikyo song but with the lyrics here I can't help but think that it is great work you totally did justice to what is in my mind as a classic anime song

I know when she finally passes away in Final Act, she goes to an orchestral version of this song so I like to think of it as hers
@@Nicki_Gee I feel like it is hers because on that one episode where Kaede tells about how Inuyasha and Kikyo met (episode 147), we see her making the necklace for Inuyasha and the word for the command was going to be "dearest". Until ya know...everything went down hill thanks to Naraku

I remember spending hours at a time listening to the Japanese version of this song on repeat, jotting down a transliteration of the lyrics, and singing them from the script I’d made just so I could enjoy singing along with it years ago. It’s been too long. I don’t know if I could do it anymore without making the script again

I love the lyrics and writing of this cover. However, what made the song so special was the way it was sung: let's be honest, Ayumi Hamasaki is no great vocalist, but the emotional delivery of Dearest was vulnerable, fragile and restrained. I appreciate you trying something different and making the song more upbeat, but I think slowing it down and imbuing the words with more emotion would have fit better.
Also, props to showing off your technique, but simpler singing would have been nice. Less vibrato, limit the belting, hold back the power.
Nocturne22 I appreciate the comment, but it is a cover and just because Ayumi sings one way doesn’t mean I have to copy her style. In fact, I’d rather not. I’m not an airy singer, I’m a belter with natural vibrato who likes this song and the fact that it’s a cover gives me the freedom to sing it my way. I can understand you feeling her way is classic and better for you as a specific listener but I believe as a vocalist I shouldn’t have change my voice, I sing how I feel and however I was feeling at the time well this is the result. . :D thank you for listening and your comment again, I appreciate the time you took to write it out.
