    hi.. if you want to propogate a rubber , you should include leaves+ stem.if you use only leaves to propogate it would have a roots but no leaf would grow from your propagated leaves

    When I replant any plants to a bigger pot I take angle grinder and cut the pot in half then carefuly remove both pot parts and put the plant into the new bigger pot. So as little as possible roots are damaged. Plants love it and then they dont need that much recovery time after replanting. I have 4 Ficus Elastica plants in 30 liter pots. They are 1,2 - 1,5 meters tall growing outside on porch Manila city.

      Hola. No sé si aún puedas ver este comentario. Pero, el autor/autora de este video dice que según alguna investigación previa sobre la reproducción de la ficus elástica una hoja puede producir raíces y vivir por años incluso pero no dará nuevos brotes qué produzcan hojas, permanecerá así hasta morir. Se debe incluir por lo menos la yema de donde se sostiene la hoja para que pueda producir un nuevo árbol.

    • @thegreenearth
      @thegreenearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just let your plant settle in for a few days, then repot it in a fresh soil mix. It is better to always repot your newly purchased plants into a freshly mix soil with full of nutrients. I recommend 50% potting soil + perlite or coco peat or sand + some compost.

    Were you ever able to obtain stems from the plants propagated from a single leaf? Would cutting the leaf horizontally allow for further offshooting at the root level?

    • @thegreenearth
      @thegreenearth  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You cannot produce new stem from just rooted leaf as per my experiment it just remain leaf with more roots for almost a year now. Regarding with cutting the leaves horizontally, I don’t have any knowledge about it. But I think, theres is no special wether you cut it or not.

    Will rubber plant produce flowers

    • @thegreenearth
      @thegreenearth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, rubber plant is capable of producing flowers and, subsequently, small fruits. ... Actual rubber plant blooms are small, greenish and insignificant; they also are unlikely to occur on a rubber plant growing indoors in a container or even one growing outdoors in warm temperate to semi-tropical conditions.

    • @thegreenearth
      @thegreenearth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did a follow-up video about propagating using just the leaves and it won’t grow as a new plant. It may root well but will not become a new plant. When you propagate make sure there’s a stem. About propagating in soil, when you cover it with plastic make sure to have some air ventilation at least to prevent molds. Also, make sure that the soil is not too wet, just enough to moisten the soil. Overall, propagation in water is still the most effective for me, just make sure to keep your propagation in a place where it can receive enough indirect light and change the water once a week.

    Heyy! I have a question. If you cut a branch off with a few leaves like you did, can you just propagate the whole thing instead of cutting it into pieces? Will it still shoot roots that way? Thanks!

    • @feroxartem
      @feroxartem 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, u cut a branch with a leaf, put it in water and wait for roots to come out. Dont propagate the leaves cuz it wont grow into a new plant.

    By the way, did you water the cuttings that you put inside the plastic bag? Also, the way you tied the plastic bag is it airtight?

    • @thegreenearth
      @thegreenearth  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there’s no need of watering for a month and the plastic cover should not be close tight. but the way I did on the video initially is too tight and I think that was the reason why one of my propagated plant rotted.

      Leaf alone cannot produce you a new plant. When you are propagating rubber plant make sure to have a stem on the leaf.
