Hi Stuart, couple of days back washed my bike and polished and sprayed it the exact same way you explained in the video. When I took the bike out yesterday got stuck in bad rain and the bike got dirty but after reaching home all I had to do was to run it down with some water and that's all I had to do.. No scrubbing or shampoo needed to get rid of the dirt. I just want to thank you for this guide and making our life so easy.
Stuart, i have never seen a better looking bike. Beautiful looking finish. Well done man, its a credit to you. I ride a Kawasaki but absolutely love Triumph. Ride safe.
Time for an update now that Ceramic/Graphene coatings are more affordable. Some are good for 5+ years, though you have to purchase enough to do 10 bikes.
Mr. Fillingham, I can think of no higher praise than to say that the ‘Full Fillingham’ has made all the difference to how my bike looks , as well as to how easily it sheds muc(k). On which subject , I’ve started using muc off bike cleaner concentrate and miracle shine wax, and they’re excellent products , long - lasting and labour saving. I’ve also started ( after you recommended it )air drying my bike after a wash, and it certainly goes a long way in getting it properly dry, especially behind badges and in those infuriating little crevices in the swing arm. And lastly, and not apropos to this video, but yes, Sir, I do know where Yorkshire is , thanks to reading the vet James Herriot as a kid. More power to you, Sir, and please keep them coming.
Hi Stuart. At 48 i didn't think i had much to learn about detailing bikes but watched your vid and yes i do. I was due some new polish and had no idea what ro go for. I chose the simoniz liquid wax and the 85 aswell. My 120 black was nice already but it is nicer now and thats not just me imagining it. Black paint is a pig to shine up. Thank you.
Great video, very informative! I learned something about paint technology today. I'm glad you mentioned not applying petroleum-based products accidentally on your brakes/tires. I'd like to add that many car washes have wax in them and should also be avoided because the wax residue will remain on the tires as well.
Gorgeous bike Stu! I had my new Speedmaster rust proofed/glass coated. Wasn’t cheap, but it’s held up for 3 months with just a water rinse down and good dry off with micro fiber and compressed air. We’ll see after 6 months…
Thank you Graham! Glad you found it useful! I did put some music on but kept the volume very low, I know some devices boost the volume and make it a bit obtrusive, so hopefully I got the balance right on this one!
Thanks Stuart for the video.. I have just bought a Speedmaster which was a dealer demo and needs some work. I look forward to giving it a good clean and I will definately use some or all of these products if available downunder. I just need to repair the paint on the forks which has few marks and there is already a bit of rust on the spokes. It was a good price so I am not complaining. Your videos will cover most of what needs doing. Looking forward to the next ones. Brian.
I'm waiting for delivery of my 2019 Triumph Bonneville T120 Diamond Edition here in New Orleans. So very different from the 1978 Bonnie I rode during law school. Not that I miss Amal carbs and ticklers. Your excellent video will come in handy here. We're a semi-tropical climate, with high humidity, buckets of rain, and long hot summers. I've filed this video away for future use. Great tips on the products and the application process. Thanks Stuart!
Hey Stuart. What a fantastic video - really enjoyed it and yes would like to see the washing regime. Your Bonnie is still looking stunning after a year! You filled all the gaps I had about polishes and I have just ordered the Muc Off Miracle Shine on Amazon for £11.63 + free UK delivery. I wash and wax mine every Sunday afternoon along with the car (yes a bit OCD I know - it must be the military thing) and you've given me some cracking tips. Thankyou again sir for the excellent detail and of course the witty narration. Looking forward to next week.
Cracking video , I've had my Bonneville 865 for almost ten years and if we keep on top of it they can look as good as the day we rolled it out of the showroom ! Incidentally , couldn't help noticing your right hand gaiter may need rotating a tad to locate the vent holes to the rear which may help reduce the ingress of moisture and road grit and grime .
For those not finding GT85 in the States, check your local bicycle shop. Many near me in Tennessee carry it as an all purpose lubricant in exactly the same can as in the vid. Oh, and great job Stuart!
I’m not sure which importer is selling it to bicycle shops but I used it a lot while working here in the States as a cycle mechanic around 12 years ago.
So after some looking around it seems in the past couple years due to a licensing or trademark issue GT85 is no longer imported to the States. I have started using Muc Off MO94 as a replacement and seems to work quite well. Time will tell.
Just a comment , first comprehensive video presentation ever found on this subject . Only found one mistake , a slip of the tong probably due to age . Thanks anyway , keep um coming .
Hi Stuart, A note on maintenance and protection. I just finished a 4500 Km tour in the north of Spain on my 4 month old T120 black I had about a week of heavy rain over there and no good chelter to dry down everything after each ride. Actualy the new bike was left in the rain for that 7 day period. When comming home and starting to clean the bike I noticed quiet an amount of heavy oxidation on a lot of bolds and even a big amount of rust on the disc brakes (not the brake surface). To see my brand new bike in this condition after just 4 months makes my heart break. I used MO-94 before leaving home, gues it did'nt last for a week I supose some parts of the bike aren't realy made for touring, just for a nice sunny sunday afternoon
I've been using the muck off miracle shine and it's great stuff. I can recommend this to anyone interested in trying it, it's a large tin, you get plenty, it smells nice of you're into that and it really brings the bike up to showroom standards.
Halfords had a clearance few weeks ago and 3 pounds a tin gt85 great stuff use it on my bike as well as acf 50 like you said best protects your bike before you can watch it deteriate before you then your job's going to be lot harder after the fact best off looking after your motorcycle your money bought it great video
Great video, I might give some of them ago. I have the matt green Street Scrambler and used some muc off speed polish I had in the garage on that not really thinking about it, came out super shiny to my suprise, that Matt finish stuff might be the answer.
Hi Kris. it may be still matt underneath the wax, try removing it with a proprietary tar remover for paint work see if it matts up again. like I said they do satinise with time any way, the matt detailer is probably the way to go, but as I said ive not tried it yet!
Thank you Stuart, I found this very informative, both as a how to and for your product recommendations. I shall now be in a better position to care for my new T120 when it hopefully arrives next month.
Great video Stuart! I actually really liked the longer format...gave me enough time to eat my bowl of cereal and have a cup of coffee before it was all done. I have just a month or so ago bought a 1999 Triumph Legend TT that is in really very good shape and the body work is quite good. It does need some attention to cleaning however and your video is a great addition to all the "how to wash your bike" videos out there. You video really does fill a gap!
Fantastic video and thank you for sharing your knowledge, experiences and providing recommendations through your research. It's a pleasure watching your channel.
Loved this video the first time I watched it, and had to review it again now that my bike has been repainted and stock of Muc Off Miracle Shine has arrived. Thanks again Stuart for exceptional videos. Cheers mate.
Not yet Stuart. I've got to install the tank 'Triumph' decals before the tank sides can be polished. And everything is getting 3 coats of Miracle Shine before being reinstalled... tank fuel pump and filters have been reinstalled in the tank though... I send a photo. 🙂
Used auto glym for many years myself Brian, pretty good stuff but was intended for use preparing cars for the second hand market. I think they have upped their game in recent years for the consumer market, but personally I wouldn't go back. let me know what you think of the miracle shine, hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised!
i was cleaning my T120 can the knee pads be removed from the fuel tank as damp / moisture could be retained starting corrosion ; when you mentioned dust coats that brought a smile to my face remembering my days in a body shop when it was all cellulose and cars would be going rusty before they got to the showrooms .
Have to say I pre-ordered a T120 black (with black exhausts and everything) but since I saw your motorcycle I am seriously considering changing to classic jet black with chrome exhausts. This is a very difficult decision!
Just used the GT 85 on the Matt black pipes and engine casing. Came up lovely, slightly satinised but a beautiful even finish. Will try Matt finisher by Muc Off when I can find it. Very instructive video. Thank you Stuart
Don't worry its not permanent on the engine and it will matt up again as it burns off, I'm not sure if the matt detailer would be suitable on your engine Piero so be careful.
I may have missed it. I did not see anything about cleaning the radiator core. The liquid cooling heat exchanger is exposed to all sorts of oncoming mud, grit, insects, water, oil, and other road born fluids. How does one clean it? I would think that would be important not to just appearance but to the health of the engine, as heat transfer is affected by all that muck.
Your best video yet. Always great to learn from someone who has real world experience. I've certainly learnt something about paint today. I paused the video when you were discussing the Simoniz wax so I could order some, only to find the Muc Off one is perhaps slightly better 😱. That will teach me for not waiting until the end 😉👍🏻. Also interesting to here your thoughts on Muc-Off, I just assumed it was bit of a con, so that's something else I've learnt today.
Nice to hear from you Dervman glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. To be honest all polishes are con in one way or another but some are better than others, The muc off might not be the best on the market but it is the best ive tested so far! and ive tested a few! It does a good job, Its in the right price range, and its economical. Its good enough until I discover something better!
my only complaint would be why do you apologise for running to long, fantastic videos packed full of information about a fantastic bike, I'm going to organise delivery for about May time, fill the Sundays in lovely.
Hi William, its a difficult balance between supplying enough information and not boring people in to a coma! perhaps i got it right on this one! thank you for watching sir and for your comment!
I’ve used GT85 for years on bicycle chains...... but I would think this oil residue on engine would be a dirt magnate on engine and especially small parts one cannot wipe off. But I will give it a try. Thanks
Hi Stuart, great series of videos and very informative. I purchased a new T100 just a week ago and I'm applying your ideas and suggestions for keeping the bike looking its best. Thanks for taking the time to do it. Regards Gary Bailey - Brisbane, Australia.
Stewart, I was wandering if you could review the chain adjustment. That is the one thing that seems to prevent me from buying a T120. The pipe placement seems to make it more of a chose than it should be.
Hi Austin, I will do when it needs adjustment but so far the chain has shown no sign of stretching, either way it is not as difficult as rumour would have you believe, don't let that put you off sir!
Excellent video Stuart. Always good to get some decent trade experience and information. I would like to see you do a cleaning video, there are a lot out there but I've not seen their end results as good as yours. I ride all year round so keeping the bike pristine is always a challenge but something I try to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to your next video.
A good wax should eventually fill minor swirls, to avoid it happening in future follow the instructions in this video and the washing video ill be publishing tomorrow!
Just thought of something else...unrelated.....I understand you are going to be doing some touring videos? I know you use an open face helmet, are you going to 'narrate' the audio after the event? Just my opinion my friend, but I honestly think this would be a mistake....I for one want to know what you think/feel while doing the ride....and enjoy the engine noise, and the 'live' feel to it all...just my twopenneth....feel free to ignore my observations.....TC&RS
Hi Paul, thanks for your comment, I have already done one trip a few weeks ago and uploaded a video in two parts. and yes I did narrate it at he editing stage. If you would like to have a look back to the videos published at the beginning of June, I feel they worked rather well but ill let you be the judge!
Hi Stuart, firstly please accept my sincere apologies, this comment does not appear in print, how I saw it in my 'mind's eye' (all be that through the bottom of a Timothy Taylors' Landlord Pale Ale glass!) I have indeed seen the Yorkshire Dales video's, please refer to my original comment on your Buttertubs Pass Vol Two edition, part of which reads " ......this is proving a great series and the best video of the Buttertubs Pass I have seen on YT, " Also it seems I may have misunderstood on your future tours front, I thought you had 'a big trip' on the horizon, and was wetting my lips at the prospect of (say) 30 minute video's. (I figured you were using the Dales trip as a 'shakedown' of the gear and bike) In this instance, of 'a long series' of longer video's, some 'on bike audio ' would be welcome addition and could result in higher viewing and subscription numbers. (In my defence, I was a loud voice on the camping gear review if you remember....how many views does that stand at now.....I'm sure the Evistr L53 would do a sterling job of it. TCRSM8
Be careful with Miracle Shine on the tank. It left pink stains on the white paint (Baker Express Interceptor) that took me ages to rub out. I even had to use the dreaded WD40! Gave me quite a scare.
Well I took your advice and detailed my 5 month old T100 yesterday. Should have been done right out of the dealer for protection but nevertheless the results were outstanding. Had to make a few substitutes as Muc-off is hard to find/expensive here in the States, but did use their Bike Cleaner and MO-94. Simoniz also seems to be disappearing from the States so used one of Maguires pure carnauba waxes and some sort of tire shine. Now, as I don't have a garage to protect her under the Arizona sun we'll see how it all holds up. I do have a carport and regularly use a bike cover, but as I ride nearly everyday the latter is a bit of a nuisance. One question, do you use anything on the knee pads and seats? Right now I use some 303 uv protectant on the seat but nothing on the pads. Fantastic video Stuart!
Glad it worked out for you Scot, the method is 2/3 of the process anyway so as long as the products you use are of good quality the results should still be good. we dont get the same intensity of sun here so i rarely use such products on the rubber and seat. I would say though that rubber is more prone to sun damage than vinyl so if it is suitable for rubber i would use the product on your knee pads too!
Thanks Stuart. Hadn't thought of that but am also thinking the tire shine might work as well (though leave a shiny finish). Also, I've Googled, Amazon-ed, and about every thing else I could think of but could find no carnauba wax with PTFE here in the States, except for Muc-off's at three times the price of Maguires. I'll stick with the Maguires for now.
Thanks for this very informative video, I’ve followed your cleaning regime and am very pleased with the results. I have a question regarding tyre shine products. I know that some products state that they are NOT to be used on motorcycles, I assume for safety reasons. The muc off product you use on this video is no longer available, so could you recommend another one that IS SAFE for use on motorcycles please?
Hello Stu and thank you very much for yet another excellent and useful video. I for one would very much like to know how you wash your vehicles, in particular the products you use. Dave
Hi Stuart and Greetings from the US I love your videos and your gorgeous T-120! I have your videos bookmarked and look at them regularly. I just purchased a Triumph Trophy SE due to my size and it was between the T-120 and this bike. I wanted to ask if you have any knowledge or experience with a process called Simonize or Simonizing. My dealer sold me on this stating that it provides a glass like coating on the paint and protects the paint for the "written guarantee" for life of the owner. The manufacturer states that there is no problem with the washing and waxing that you use on your bike which I question. This process costs me a pretty penny and I hope I didn't throw good money after bad. Please keep up your videos. I really enjoy them and all your concern about keeping us informed about all things on the Triumph. Best Regards and Cheers! Gary
Hi, Nice to hear from you and congratulations on your purchase. these kind of lifetime protection processes have been around for a long time eg total protection system, diamond brite, etc most polish companies have their own version of it. there is no straight answer to this as its impossible to quantify the results. its basically some sort of polymer coating, I cant honestly see how it can last as long as they say or stand up to abrasion from corrective polishing etc. my theory is that they just rely on you selling the vehicle on long before problems appear on the paintwork and hence very rarely have to make good on the written guarantee.
Hi Stuart, I am from Ecuador, South América, and Just bought a T100 Black, 2014, 4000k, very nice, and I am very happy with it, I want to buy sadle bags for mi bike, can you tell me where did you buy the bags you have in your motorcycle?
Love your videos and greetings from America. Please tell me how do you clean and protect the spokes on your wheels? Has got to be the most challenging part of cleaning a bike. Thanks
Great Video. I'd be interested in how you clean and protect those chrome spokes? When I first picked up my used TU250X I thought the spokes were galvanised they were that dirty. I still haven't really got them clean of chain throw off and road grime. Also for tyre sidewalls, plastics and rubber I use 303 Aerospace Protectant as it is Matt Finish and not slippery/sticky like Armour All. For some reason it is also the best dead bug remover I have found.
paulaus yeah I've heard they do rust if left intended. I just give them a coat of wax every now and then and they've been ok so far! I let the chain lube coat the rear ones. will keep them rust free and just give them a scrub up and coat of wax every few months
Hello I watched the video on polishing the aluminum side cases . The product you used to do that is not available here in the USA. Is there another product that would be similar . Thanks
Hey Stuart, I love your videos, watching them all prepping for the arrival of my shiny new T120 Bonny in a few weeks' time! I'm living in Berlin right now, and tried to buy some GT85 from amazon. Unfortunately, due to shipping laws with regards to Aerosols, my order was cancelled. Just wondering if there are any other brands you'd trust instead of GT85 while getting the same protective qualities? Thanks, Sebastian
Hi Sebastian, Thank you for watching. Unfortunately its impossible for me to know what is available to you. just go for a reputable brand, light oil based maintenance spray, (with PTFE if possible) that is recommended for use with motorcycles and you cant go far wrong!
Hi Stuart, I've just taken delivery of my first Bonnie and found these vids - brilliant. Question... Do you do this step every time you wash the bike? If not, how often? Thanks!
Good question David, mainly because the tank generally doesn't get as dirty as the rest of the bike so I prefer to use a more gentle cleaner on it to preserve the layers of wax.
Always great videos! Stuart, what product should be used to "restore" the look of dull/faded black paint on controls/instrument panel, and, what to use on rubber hoses? Many thanks!
Hi Les muc off will be launching their entire range in the U.S next month, so keep an eye out for it. I believe the polish is available but it may depend on your location.
Hi Stuart, I am Gustavo from Brazil and just got my brand new T120 Black. There isn’t any chrome parts in my bike (exhaust pipes, frame...) can you please advise if I can wax these black parts in the same way you showed in the painted part of your bike? Any good tips of conservation and maintaining a bike in a hot country like Brazil? I just also want to say I am addicted to your videos. Really good stuff!!!!
Stuart what have you done to me, I always like to keep my bike clean and my mates always rib me about it but your bike is several steps up, awesome, so clean. I have a 2009 Thruxton 900 and after seeing your cleaning video I went out and bought a top quality wax and Muc - off miracle shine from eBay. I live in Tasmania Australia and can not find a importer of GT85 but will check out eBay etc. I have heard WD40 have bought out the manufacturers of GT85. I did pick up a product which WD40 are selling as a dry lube spray with Teflon (PTFE. Poltytetrafluoroethylene or something like that lol) recommended for metal, plastic etc. I will try that for now. Love your videos keep it up
Hi Paul, thanks for your message I'm glad you approve, muc off do make a bike maintenance spray which would probably do the job but it is quite expensive which is why I didn't mention it. let me know how you get on!
Nice video that. I’ve been cleaning my cars and bikes for a long time now but it’s always interesting to see someone else’s method. (I’ve always been a bit slack tbh) I’m taking your info on board however and although I’ve been a long time user of muckoff I wasn’t aware of the miracle wax so have ordered some and shall use you system on he next wash of the gloss one. Still not entirely sure what I should be doing with the Matt one (GRISO) So far I’ve only washed it with dedicated car shampoo after a spray with muckoff.
Appreciate all of your video's Stuart , also I have the Matt graphite paintwork!Interesting point about GT 85 for use on the engine housing. Will it be ok on the blackened pipes ? Also, I have spotted some triumph panniers on eBay, 1/2 price, £230 but it says for t100 air cooled, wondering if they would still fit the 2017 t120
Hi Victor, Thank you! GT85 should be the perfect dressing for the powder coated pipes! just soak a workshop wipe in the stuff and apply it all over them, working it well in to the textured finish. while the bike is cold! the header pipes are double skinned so they wont get as hot as conventional pipes, this means the dressing should last longer. I would use it on the entire exhaust system, it will return them to their original dark colour, stop them going grey and make them much easier to clean. Regarding the panniers, I'm not sure sir but I would suspect they will not fit the old t100 is very different from the new T120. please let me know how you get on with the GT85!
Hello Stuart. Seems like the Muc-off tire shine gel is not available anymore, even from the Muc-off website. Perhaps they've taken it off the market? Anyway, I was going to go online and order another product for that use, but I thought I'd ask if there's a good alternative you've used and are happy with. It's always good to know what products have the Fillingham seal of approval! :)
Im still using my gel Jorge! it lasts forever! which is probably why they have discontinued it! i shall review an alternative when it comes to replacement!
Wow most useful video I have seen regarding bike care. Thanks for your efforts. Im expecting my jet black T100 in a week's time, before that I would like to buy the cleaning products you mentioned, however I could not find an importer for GT85 where I live. Could you please suggest an alternative product. I get WD-40 PTFE spray. Can it serve the same purpose as GT85 as water and dirt repellent. Please suggest.
Very informative 👍🏻I have a Matt gray tank triumph speedmaster.. is there anything you'd recommended for this? I don't want a shine on it just to protect its mattness if that makes sense😊 keep up the good work always enjoy your vids...oops should have watched through to the end before asking😂😳
LOL yes this is why I don't like making long videos! people click off before the end then ask questions that were answered after they clicked off! Just human nature I suppose! As I said sir, I have not had chance to try out the matt detailer but I reckon it will be your best bet!
As a new rider in the market for a Street Twin, this is by a long margin one of the most considered, informative cleaning videos I've come across. Thank you! Can I just ask a quick question - would you use GT85 on the plastics, too, for example the fork gaiters?
Hi Stuart. I currently own an Triumph Bonneville T100 Sixty that I'm selling with the goal of upgrading to the T120. I'm in love with the Black Graphite Matte. Is there any special caution on caring for the painting you'd recommend? Thanks for your attention. I'm your follower and a big fan of your videos
Hi Rui thanks for watching and yes matt paint is quite problematic. Iwould recommend that you use Muc off matt paint detailer. its a wax based pump spray which leaves a dead flat matt finish but protects the paintwork with a water repellent finish. see my helmet cleaning video from a few months ago. I used it there to clean a matt finished helmet. other than that dont use a wash and wax shampoo just a standard car or bike shampoo.
Thanks! I'll receive my new T120 black Matt in April. Can't wait to ride it. In the meantime I'm learning a lot from your videos. Could you post a video about fixing tire holes? There's a lot of info regarding fixing tire holes on tubeless tires, which is not the case of the T120. I'm sure your followers would love that. Just a suggestion... ;)
I was just watching your video and was going to ask if you were from Hull as I am and recognise your acsentthen you said Hull area lol.Ive just purchased a T 120 black.I live at Gilberdyke, the EXhausts are matt black. Then I’ve just seen your video is 6 years old.Do you still have the Triumph? great vids by the way .
stuart fillingham Dear Sir. Love your informative videos. GT85 appears to be a wonderful product. Very hard to find in the U.S. or cost prohibitive. have you heard of PTFE products like CRC and ZEP 45 or if you have any other that you may want to recommend for us across the pond. thx in advance.
William .- CRC is the undisputable BEST line of products for any NEW classic beauty. Clean, protect, de-mist, anti-rust, anti-crust over chrome wires, etc. etc. Paint (*), polished metals, stainless steel, chrome, anodyzed alumninum, metacrilate, mufflers..... OBS!! -> ...BUT just if shining, brilliant, gloss blinding parts!! -(If dull, morrorous matt, or sandpaper modernising -shit- stuff, you'll NEVER can enhance it.
Your very welcome sir, thank you for watching!
😂🤣
my family are looking at me like im mad watching this ..............they dont understand, brilliant video.
Stuart, i have never seen a better looking bike. Beautiful looking finish. Well done man, its a credit to you. I ride a Kawasaki but absolutely love Triumph. Ride safe.
It's actually very soothing listening to you talk. 🤓
So, so informative, you sound like a genuine bloke, thanks very much for your insight and professionalism.
Time for an update now that Ceramic/Graphene coatings are more affordable. Some are good for 5+ years, though you have to purchase enough to do 10 bikes.
Ordered and delivered, I honestly thought my Street twin was clean and shiny...until I used this product. Very happy 👍
Glad you like it!
@@stuartfillingham really Impressed, just sorry it took me this long to find your video. Plenty of time on my hands at the moment Though 👍
Mr. Fillingham, I can think of no higher praise than to say that the ‘Full Fillingham’ has made all the difference to how my bike looks , as well as to how easily it sheds muc(k).

great videos showing loads of information easy to listen to without all that music which most people put on thanks again
Thank you Graham! Glad you found it useful! I did put some music on but kept the volume very low, I know some devices boost the volume and make it a bit obtrusive, so hopefully I got the balance right on this one!
thanks for
your reply
Your welcome, The least I can do!
Completely agree!
Looking forward to next week.
your very welcome mr Bond! any other assistance I can give just get in touch with me on FB I am at your service sir!

Incidentally , couldn't help noticing your right hand gaiter may need rotating a tad to locate the vent holes to the rear which may help reduce the ingress of moisture and road grit and grime .
Daddy Cool I shall have a look at it sir. thanks for bringing it to my attention!
For those not finding GT85 in the States, check your local bicycle shop. Many near me in Tennessee carry it as an all purpose lubricant in exactly the same can as in the vid. Oh, and great job Stuart!
Thanks Chad. have to say I'm very surprised that its available there now!
Thats interesting! I think you will find MO94 just as good or Muc offs bike protector even better!
Just a comment , first comprehensive video presentation ever found on this subject . Only found one mistake , a slip of the tong probably due to age . Thanks anyway , keep um coming .
I don't make mistakes I'm from Yorkshire you know! lol,
Thanks for watching Shannon.
Hi Stuart,
A note on maintenance and protection.
I just finished a 4500 Km tour in the north of Spain on my 4 month old T120 black
I had about a week of heavy rain over there and no good chelter to dry down everything after each ride.
I used MO-94 before leaving home, gues it did'nt last for a week
I supose some parts of the bike aren't realy made for touring, just for a nice sunny sunday afternoon
This has been covered before Stephen you should re apply after heavy rain!
Hey Stuart - Really enjoying your attention to detail on these videos. Thank you!
Thank you sir, and your very welcome!
Thanks a lot! You give me lots of courage to start cleaning it.
Thanks for this and your other videos Stuart. I collect my new t120 in June 2018 and will apply these methods the minute I get home. Nick
Hi again Nick, if you can locat the right poducts it makes bike ownership a pleasure when it comes to cleaning!
Thank you Stuart, I found this very informative, both as a how to and for your product recommendations. I shall now be in a better position to care for my new T120 when it hopefully arrives next month.
thank you Roger, congratulations on the new bike!
Hi David Thanks for watching and I'm really glad this vid hit the spot for you!
Fantastic video and thank you for sharing your knowledge, experiences and providing recommendations through your research. It's a pleasure watching your channel.
Your very welcome sir! thank you for watching!
Loved this video the first time I watched it, and had to review it again now that my bike has been repainted and stock of Muc Off Miracle Shine has arrived. Thanks again Stuart for exceptional videos. Cheers mate.
Is she back together? your very Shawn! and Thank you!
Not yet Stuart. I've got to install the tank 'Triumph' decals before the tank sides can be polished. And everything is getting 3 coats of Miracle Shine before being reinstalled... tank fuel pump and filters have been reinstalled in the tank though... I send a photo. 🙂
Thanks for the info. I have ordered some miracle shine and GT85. I have always used autoglym up to now so will see how this works out.
Products ordered.... bombarded with guilt... thanks for the great advice.
As usual very nice video. Be aware that the link to the wax goes to an mild abrasive wax.
i was cleaning my T120 can the knee pads be removed from the fuel tank as damp / moisture could be retained starting corrosion ; when you mentioned dust coats that brought a smile to my face remembering my days in a body shop when it was all cellulose and cars would be going rusty before they got to the showrooms .
This is now my bible for cleaning my R NineT ; thanks Stuart
Best bike videos on youtube. Well done.
Great video, once our winter ends I hope to test out your instructions.
Thank you sir!
Thanks Stuart, very helpful video. My bike is shining and smelling lovely. :) Keep up the good work. Greetings from Amsterdam.
Hi stewart .Would love to try miracle shine on my T120 if I could get the bloody can opened!
Have to say I pre-ordered a T120 black (with black exhausts and everything) but since I saw your motorcycle I am seriously considering changing to classic jet black with chrome exhausts. This is a very difficult decision!
Just found this vid sir ..... acf50 and gt85 .... my favourite after listing to you I’ll be sticking to them .... regards Fred
Fabulous video Stuart with really good tips; cheers, Andy
Your welcome Andy, thanks for watching.
Hi Stuart, thank you for another great T-120 review and guide!
your very welcome sir, thank you for watching!
Once again, thanks so much Stuart!
Now that's a bloody clean motorcycle
It does a good job,
Its in the right price range,
and its economical.
Its good enough until I discover something better!
Really happy to have found this video! Great stuff!!
my only complaint would be why do you apologise for running to long, fantastic videos packed full of information about a fantastic bike, I'm going to organise delivery for about May time, fill the Sundays in lovely.
Hi William, its a difficult balance between supplying enough information and not boring people in to a coma! perhaps i got it right on this one! thank you for watching sir and for your comment!
Thanks Stuart. I've just watched this and your bike washing one. Very handy.
I’ve used GT85 for years on bicycle chains...... but I would think this oil residue on engine would be a dirt magnate on engine and especially small parts one cannot wipe off. But I will give it a try. Thanks
Great videos! Very informative and easy to understand. Please keep them coming.
I will do Siraj, thank you for watching sir!
Hi Stuart, great series of videos and very informative. I purchased a new T100 just a week ago and I'm applying your ideas and suggestions for keeping the bike looking its best. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
Regards
Gary Bailey - Brisbane, Australia.
Nice to hear Gary! Thank you for taking the time to watch and congratulations on your new machine!
Stewart,
I was wandering if you could review the chain adjustment.
Great video with lots of information in, I shall be trying this really soon and I’ll let you know how it works out.
Nice video Stuart, should be on TV mate.
Thank you Paulie, Washing/cleaning video coming up this Friday Sir!
Good news Stuart, any tips on avoiding /removing swirl marks would be greatly received.
A good wax should eventually fill minor swirls, to avoid it happening in future follow the instructions in this video and the washing video ill be publishing tomorrow!
Hi Stuart, just found your channel great content, I just purchased a Triumph Speedmaster so looking for tips on how to look after it, cheers
Another excellent, and informative video Stuart. Please add me to the growing list of people requesting your washing / drying regime.
Thank you Paul! consider your self duly added!
Here Maguiars tends to be far more expensive than MUC OFF here, wonder why they are charging so much for it there!
Excellent information and delivery. Thank you.
Thank you sir and your welcome!
Excellent video; thank you. Attention to detail is amazing. Thank you.
Thank you Colby and thanks for watching!
Hello Stu and thank you very much for yet another excellent and useful video. I for one would very much like to know how you wash your vehicles, in particular the products you use. Dave
Thank you Dave video request duly noted sir!
I want to learn from the Master !
Hi Stuart and Greetings from the US
I love your videos and your gorgeous T-120!
Very intresting video, will put it to the test ,will you or have you done a video on washing the bike.
Sorry just noticed you have posted video of pre clean, thanks again.
Thank you sir, and yes I did one the following week!
Thanks
Great stuff Stu........and thanks for the recommendations !!!
Your welcome sir!
Thank you. Very thoughtful video.
Thanks
Well worth the time. Thank you.
Hey Stuart,
I love your videos, watching them all prepping for the arrival of my shiny new T120 Bonny in a few weeks' time!
I'm living in Berlin right now, and tried to buy some GT85 from amazon. Unfortunately, due to shipping laws with regards to Aerosols, my order was cancelled.
Just wondering if there are any other brands you'd trust instead of GT85 while getting the same protective qualities?
Thanks,
Sebastian
Hi Sebastian, Thank you for watching. Unfortunately its impossible for me to know what is available to you. just go for a reputable brand, light oil based maintenance spray, (with PTFE if possible) that is recommended for use with motorcycles and you cant go far wrong!
Hey Stuart, thank you for your response! I've gone for M0-94 in lieu of GT85. My Bonny arrives next week!
Hi Stuart, I've just taken delivery of my first Bonnie and found these vids - brilliant. Question... Do you do this step every time you wash the bike? If not, how often?
Thanks!
Yes whenever the bike looks dirty.
Good video and very useful. Why do you not use the Mu
c-Off cleaner on the tank?
Good question David, mainly because the tank generally doesn't get as dirty as the rest of the bike so I prefer to use a more gentle cleaner on it to preserve the layers of wax.
Always great videos!
Stuart, what product should be used to "restore" the look of dull/faded black paint on controls/instrument panel, and, what to use on rubber hoses?
Many thanks!
They don't offer the miracle polish in the us for some reason.
Not too long at all Stuart, in fact i would like a way longer and in depth vid :)
Could it possibly have been more in depth?
Wonderful explanation. Thanks STUART.
GT85 is not available in the States. You recommend ACF-50 for winter use. Is there any problem or difference if using this year-round?
Nice video that. I’ve been cleaning my cars and bikes for a long time now but it’s always interesting to see someone else’s method. (I’ve always been a bit slack tbh) I’m taking your info on board however and although I’ve been a long time user of muckoff I wasn’t aware of the miracle wax so have ordered some and shall use you system on he next wash of the gloss one. Still not entirely sure what I should be doing with the Matt one (GRISO) So far I’ve only washed it with dedicated car shampoo after a spray with muckoff.
use muc off matt finish detailer steve.
In never been able to get the Mic off tyre shine
Stuart do you use muck of pre wash you know the pink stuff
Hi steve yes I do although I have recently discovered silkolene wash off which is a very similar product.
Stuart Fillingham thanks for replying I’ve been using acf50 year round I will now give your recommended stuff a go 😃
Hello Stuart.
I live in the United States what do you recommend for wax and wash....thanks
The muc off products should now be available in the States Mario.
Oh
Very informative 👍🏻I have a Matt gray tank triumph speedmaster.. is there anything you'd recommended for this? I don't want a shine on it just to protect its mattness if that makes sense😊 keep up the good work always enjoy your vids...oops should have watched through to the end before asking😂😳
You could try the muc off matt detailer sir
LOL yes this is why I don't like making long videos! people click off before the end then ask questions that were answered after they clicked off! Just human nature I suppose! As I said sir, I have not had chance to try out the matt detailer but I reckon it will be your best bet!
As a new rider in the market for a Street Twin, this is by a long margin one of the most considered, informative cleaning videos I've come across. Thank you! Can I just ask a quick question - would you use GT85 on the plastics, too, for example the fork gaiters?
Hi Simon yes you can use it on plastics etc, but for brst results I would recommend a good quality plastic/rubber dressing!
Great - thank you very much! :)
Very informative, thanks. What do you think about TopCoat® F11. Would it do the job on a matt finish paint?
I'm afraid i don't know the product Rui, But i can recommend Muc Off matt finish detailer.
Just a suggestion... ;)
Hi Rui, i shall bear that one I'm mind for the future sir! and congratulations on your ordering your T120!
Very interesting, especially the difference between a polish and wax. What are your thoughts on Ceramic coating? Seems to be the latest trend
Stewart, great video!
Thank you sir, glad you approve!
stuart fillingham Dear Sir. Love your informative videos. GT85 appears to be a wonderful product. Very hard to find in the U.S. or cost prohibitive. have you heard of PTFE products like CRC and ZEP 45 or if you have any other that you may want to recommend for us across the pond. thx in advance.
Hi William, i haven't heard of them but if they are considered good quality in your neck of the woods then they will be suitable sir!
William .- CRC is the undisputable BEST line of products for any NEW classic beauty. Clean, protect, de-mist, anti-rust, anti-crust over chrome wires, etc. etc. Paint (*), polished metals, stainless steel, chrome, anodyzed alumninum, metacrilate, mufflers.....
OBS!! ->
...BUT just if shining, brilliant, gloss blinding parts!! -(If dull, morrorous matt, or sandpaper modernising -shit- stuff, you'll NEVER can enhance it.
Thanks Stuart. Nice work.
Might have missed it, but is that a weekly, monthly or biannual routine?
Thanks in advance dear Stuart.
Both!
