(Needles' head only has 20 hp when you fight him after he kills Tanaka) And when he actually receives a little bit of training, he can even go toe to toe with an experienced monster hunter who could possibly be the strongest or tied with O'saa as the strongest contestant lore wise.
I mean august is a relative of Ragnavaldr, lore wise he is probably the strongest contestant only losing to Legard really Given that Tanaka has the Latent soul, I really wish you could recruit him after his training with Marcoh, if you fight him after that he has increased stats so it'd be cool to have him as a party member Really hope his hexen skills get revamped next patch
I'm really interested in how Miro implements Tanaka's gameplay. His entire skill tree is just stats. However, he himself develops three times over the course of the game, each time becoming more and more dangerous. My idea of its gameplay: the ability to learn other people's skills WITHOUT having other people's souls, subject to recruiting the appropriate character. Naturally limited list of skills. Henrik will teach you how to use a knife, Marko will teach you how to dodge/punch, Karin will teach you how to pick locks...
That's actually a great idea. Especially because one of the annoying things about the game is you can't access party members skills unless they start with them
There is a Japanese show called Gaki No Tsukai where one of the members, Tanaka, always ends up being kicked in the ass as the butt of the joke, I wonder if this character is a reference because goddamn he gets killed at every occasion

Tanaka is one of my fav characters out of funger but why did Miro make him die so much? It's one of my questions next to why Henryk or Abella disappear once the other is interacted with.
Tanaka is based on the Everyman character, which is why he dies in many scenarios. His arc has to feel special. When Henryk catcalls Abella at the train, she tells him that instead of being a nuisance, that he should “go make himself useful.” This is why he goes into old town to find food for everyone, likely because he wants to impress Abella. He mentions that he’s 32 and single, so I’m guessing he’s desperate for a partner. The Mayor’s manor has darkness in the basement that makes Henryk’s more vulnerable to moonscorching. Looking at some obvious examples like: Levi, Samarie, Karin, Marcoh and Olivia, moonscorching is more likely to trigger in moments of weakness. After Henry leaves, Abella decides to look around for spare parts. To walk down the path to tunnel 7, it’s necessary to walk past the woodsman’s house. Considering that Daan's medical diagnosis mentions that an outside organism triggered Abella's moonscorching, making it very likely that it was the woodsman's parasite. Basically, both of them are walking towards their doom at the same time without realizing it, which is why only one can be saved before the other one gets moonscorched. (At least that’s what intended anyway.) It’s a logical inconsistency that it takes to day one evening for one to moonscorch when you save the other, probably because Miro didn’t know how to program that.
@@jakes8971 I believe it is implied that the parasite was the same as the woodsman, yeah. Henryk also is just one of the more unstable characters, hence why he moonscorches early on. (Regardless, I do sometimes wish you could save them both LOL. But that's life in the festival, I suppose)
@@jakes8971 I kinda disagree with the woodsman parasite route for abella, because if you touch the tower slab, abella moonscorches into chaugnar regardless, I believe abella went down the tunnel, and upon the realization that she could not fix the train and that they would be lost in that crazed town and she is completely lost without a way to go, her mission of the organization she was working for was about to get a hell lot harder, and also that the tunnel has Rher's influence (it having it's own rher circle and dimension), it'd make sense for her to moonscorch there, plus how would she get down the tunnel while infected by the parasite? It's a 1:1 carbon copy of a facehugger and is described putting eggs inside of the host, she'd just die, and even if she did moonscorch into chaugnar, she'd be outside of the bunker, it's just unlikely for that to be true All the other's moonscorches make sense, henryk becomes the mayor whilst in search of food in the manor, levi becomes weeping scope around the school, marcoh becomes giant in the white mold apartment where he went for resources, tanaka becomes judgement in the museum or white mold apartment where he also went for supplies, marina becomes coccoon in the church where she went to meet her father, samarie becomes dysmorphia in her church rher dimension, O'saa becomes the mastermind meditating in the streets like he does before moonscorching, daan becomes pocketcat and brings olivia to the museum also to moonscorch, Karin becomes the valkyrie through the lake where she stood near with daan, and caligura is more symbolic to belonging in the sewers I guess And abella becomes chaugnar in the tunnels Yeah Daan gives the clue of an outside influence, but I personally think that's in character for daan to just guess stuff, like he does at the start of the game debating Karin, i could just be coping or wrong lol but I dunno
@@Lucas_Nuts I think the woodsman’s parasite is still likely to be the primary catalyst for Abella's moonscorch transformation. Daan says this about Chaugnar: “Look at the tissue on the head. Looks very alien. It is just speculation, *but the transformation this creature went through could have started from the head. Maybe an outside organism could have attached itself on the face of this person?*” Daan says this about Mastermind: “On the first glance the mass on his head looked like a parasite of sorts, *but upon closer inspection it looks to be just a growth or a mutation.*” The difference between the two wouldn’t be mentioned if it wasn’t important. Now obviously there’s a logistical inconsistency because of the transformation at the hollow tower right? However there already are many logistical inconsistencies in the early game. For example, if you recruit Abella on day one morning, Henryk just disappears from the game until day one evening, even though he should have already moonscorched by then. The same applies to the reverse scenario where you save Henryk and go to the bunker on day one morning. Another example is how Tanaka somehow got inside tunnel 7 before the you to get his head sawn off by Needles, even though Tanaka was behind you the entire time way there. It’s likely because Chaugnar and the Gentleman were the first moonscorched forms (the only two in the demo) implemented in the game. Miro likely hadn’t thought of the hollow tower transformations when he finished the demo. The hollow tower transformations are more of gameplay mechanic so that you don’t have to go to the PRHVL Bop, train or Gro-goroth sigil. I don’t think the Rher sigil means that the parasite came from there, since it’s actually somewhat implied that Relia and the NLU also worked inside the Rher dimension to create Logic. (The chairs and tables in the “Rher” tunnel 7, are the same as the ones in the white bunker and workshop.) The parasite is related to the woodsman’s himself. In the woodsman’s letter, he writes that Black Kalev took his wife, his dignity and his faith. The woodsman also wrote that he planned on killing himself, but the moon prevented it. Black Kalev taking the woodsman’s dignity could mean that he ate the woodsman genitals, but more likely it refers to how the Woodsman feeling emasculated by his wife having an affair with Black Kalev. Moonscorching brings out the victim’s self perceived flaws, which are often personal insecurities and fears, so the woodsman having his “manhood” detached, after being cheated on by a demonic goat, makes it more likely that’s the case. Daan’s medical diagnosis also says this about the woodsman: *”The genitalia is especially curious case. From a first glance the obvious conclusion would be that a parasite attached itself there, but on a closer inspection it might be some kind of an unnatural growth malformation. Part of the woodsman himself. Madness, I know... Interesting, but yeah, madness.”* As long as you open the hatch to tunnel 7, and Abella goes inside of it, (with it without you) she won’t moonscorch until day three night. That is important because Henryk will moonscorch even if you find him inside the mayor’s manor, unless you tell him “snap out of it!” *Side note: The (.gg) wiki says that she moonscorches on day one night if you don’t recruit her, but I couldn’t replicate this despite trying multiple things. I don’t know why that is written, but it’s not the only thing the (.gg) wiki is wrong about. According to the (.gg) wiki, Henryk will moonscorch on day three morning after he poisons everyone at the PRHVL Bop club on day two night, but he doesn’t. It’s likely that both of these are misinformation from the fandom wiki that spread.* As for the rest of the moonscorched triggers, I’ll give a few briefly elaborated on examples, as to why they’re related to moments of weakness: Levi goes to the orphanage which would trigger bad memories from his childhood, combined with the fact that he hasn’t gotten a “fix” in a while, making him more mentally unstable. It’s also possible that he found the Rher sigil in the orphanage, which looks like a battlefield, which would likely trigger PTSD. Marina finds her dead father in the church’s dungeon. If you play as her, the last think she thinks when seeing his body is “guilt.” It’s possible she feels guilty for his death, since it would’ve never happened if she lived the life he wanted her to live. Combined with her fear of following her father footsteps subconsciously, like an insect. Samarie was clearly distressed from having killed Domek, and the catalyst for her transformation is either Marina rejecting her, or Marina not showing up, meaning she would have felt like she killed someone for no reason. On day three evening, Karin sits on the edge of the lake, recalling a time where she was called a vulture, but says she thinks of herself as a Valkyrie instead. However at the end it’s clear she’s uncertain about that deep down. On day three night, she moonscorches into the Valkyrie, which looks like a vulture like beast pretending to be a Valkyrie, implying that’s the conclusion Karin came to after thinking for a while. Tanaka mentions that Marcoh was hesitant about entering the molded apartments, and comes to the conclusion that it’s because the place reminded Marcoh of his past sins. Olivia gets forcefully driven to the museum by Pocketcat, which would make her feel even more terrible than normal about being constrained to a wheelchair.
@@jakes8971 About the logistical inconsistencies, one could most likely be story-related and the other a bug (knowing this game), since I believe the gentleman should be there in the morning if you take the Abella route but instead Henryk is just gone, that has to be a bug and it's also pretty inconvenient when I tried to do a kill-all day 1 morning run, and with the hollow tower, I mean, I understand your point but I also give the blessing of a doubt that Miro would give something with the sole purpose of convenience and ignores all past logic without embedding itself in the story, in a game where small details matter, like daan's examination of chaugnar describing an outside organism would seem like the main and only needed explanation for the woodsman parasite, although I believe that might just be outdated or daan's a conspiracy theorist, I personally still have my doubts about it's possibility since most moonscorches's locations make sense to where they happened, even in the demo, henryk moonscorching at the manor made sense because he went there If abella got parasitized then she should've moonscorched at the woodman's hut since the parasite would've killed her then and there or got her moonscorched there, unless of course chaugnar somehow got in the bunker and then inside the walls of it which to me is a slight stretch. Yeah she could be an exception to the rule, all I'm saying is that personally Imo it just doesn't fully connect, this is a small detail really.
