  • This is me talking about how to avoid getting a brow droop or eye droop, also known as brow ptosis or eyelid ptosis, from Botox. I also explain exactly where to have the injection sites if you are hoping to achieve a brow lift. Please note, this is from my years of experience of having a brow lift and it going right and also wrong, and from my knowledge of anatomy and what I have learnt from the internet. I am NOT a professional, and can only tell you my thoughts and experiences. Neither am I recommending Botox - this is not a video about the safety or otherwise of Botox (though obviously I believe it is safe). I am going to do a video titled "Is Botox Safe" also discussing that. x

I have had the exact experiences with medical practitioners making my brows dropped too many times. So I studied, learned, qualified as an aesthetics practitioner and now I do my own Botox and brow lift and I'm awesome at it😊

I’ve been to doctors, nurses, dentist, and lastly a beauty therapist. All except the dentist, gave me one brow higher than the other!
So during COVID lock down I researched and researched then finally decided to do my own Botox. It’s better has I mix my tox to the correct mix,and I now inject all areas myself! And.... both brows are level.

Same as me since lockdown. Its been a learning experience for me. I used to be a model for fillers and botox even threads . I'd have to pay but it was really cheap. I had 1 really brilliant teacher who taught her students on me. I always come away looking great. I didn't always get the same teacher and never got the same result. As a model it was pot luck who the teacher was but they all do it there own way and really hard to get the same effect each time. Fillers were OK but the botox was never the same each time I had and I was a model of years. I'm doing my own now , I did get the drop look on each eye this time lol. So it's wearing of that's why I'm researching. I'm gonna take what this lovely young ladies has said and leave the fore head alone. Its a difficult one as everones diffrent. I definitely need more botox then they Normally give . Thank you for all the info ❤️

This was so interesting. I've been having Botox on and off for a few years. I hadn't realised having the horizontal forehead lines done could effect the brow lift I always want to achieve (which sometimes hasn't happened) . I've learnt so much from this video and will mention next time I have it done that to me, the brow lift is more important to me than any forehead lines I have.
    Thank you 😊

I love your commitment to doing your own research and your willingness to share your trial and error and I think it's important to advocate for your self with your doctor and make sure they are open to learning what works for you.I just had Botox and I'm not loving the result ...I want to use Botox for a light freshen and to help preventing further expression lines ...but each time I try to avoid the last issue ...I seem to have a new problem...this time the result my forehead looks flat and brows are pulled down so I look a bit angry...last time I had it my lids drooped a bit ..this video will help me think about how to approach my doctor to try a new technique Thank you for this excellent video Rhonda Ps Your eyeshadow is sooo pretty

Thank you for such a robust video - this is brilliant. I have tried the corners of my eyes and the corrugater muscles, had a little lift but nothing as hoped for. I am a practitioner, I am going to try along the eye brow line today in a bid to make a difference 😬. Tried it all and it’s all practical so I can apply to clients, no matter what we learn in medical school sometimes these details even in maxofacial specialists is all down to the individual. So always go light at the start, never deep and heavy loaded.
    Brilliant video thank you.

Thank you sooooo much for sharing this video as it was very informative. I had the same experiences as you did as far as the botox not working, and many times when it did my eyebrows dropped. But, I also have another issue in that my botox only lasts about 4 -8 weeks. This lead me to investigate further as to what I can do to improve my botox experience because when its done correctly I LOVE the effects. So I wanted to share what I have learned. Botox needs a conductor to work, this conductor is Zinc Citrate. So now before I have my botox done I do my own zinc regiman that has definitely improved my botox, but of course there are numerous other factors involved which makes every botox experience unique in its own right!!!

I thought I would post an updated comment in regards to a previous comment I made. I had Dysport done and it will be 2 weeks on Tuesday (today is Sunday) & this was my first time ever having botox or Dysport. I could see my results at a maximum by day 6. I was after a slight brow lift to help lift my hooded eye lids a little bit only on the outer end of my brows. I had 40 units in total... 20 around the outer edge of each eye. The first injection point was at the very end of my brows and then another 3 around my crows feet ending at the very top of my cheekbone.... so 4 injections around each eye... if that makes sense. I now have no lines when I smile. When I did smile my muscles where pulling down and making my outer eye droop... Again if that makes sense. I'm very happy with the results so far & am looking forward to seeing how long it lasts. I saw a lady Dr that currently practices at a local Drs clinic and came here from the US.... its just a normal Dr clinic. She is certified though. I'm in rural Victoria, Australia if that helps anyone.
Again... thanks for your video. It helped me be able to be clear on what I wanted and understand more.

Karen - I've been getting 250 units of Botox every 3 months for migraines since 2003. It works on the headaches and my forehead is smooth as a nice side effect...but there's a lot of complications when it goes wrong. My hooded eyes looked horrible the first 5 years (neurologists who do the procedure don't really care about negative cosmetic effect). I've probably had twenty people inject over the years across 4 countries and 8 US cities. It varies a lot even when they are supposed to inject the same amount in the exact same area. I've also had negative effects from Botox in other places for cosmetic reasons - paralyzed jaw, droopy lower lids, pronounced lisp, etc. It's an art!! And it has its risks. Thanks for sharing!!

250 units? each time??? are you sure you have that correct? that's a LOT - a LOT. I have VERY strong muscles, in between my eyes and doctors usually have to do like 30-32 units in that area , and on the sides of my eyes, like 10 each side, and they told me that's a LOT. Or is that the amount they have to DO for headaches?? that is a crazy amount. Its LAURA

As an injector I feel there is some good information here for a non professional but also some that is not entirely correct.
In terms of longevity, be it treatment or even brow or eyelid ptosis, you cannot say for sure that it will take the 2 to 3 month mark or the usual lasting time of botox. Some people will hold a dose any where on their face for 2 months and for another 2 or even 4. So many factors go into play. A physically active person of high metobolic person has the potential to process the product faster.
Also injecting the forehead doesn't guarantee ptosis, placement is important. Placement lower on the frontalis or even being over dosed can created a brow ptosis. Another factor also being how heavy the the frontalis is: If someone already has a weakened frontalis that is already heavy, injecting the frontalis, the muscle holding and supporting the brows, naturally it will make it heavier.
Its true every ones anatomy is different so you cannot ever really 100% guarantee the outcome. It's definitely all very fascinating.

Great great video you explained so well!! It happened to me the droopy eye cause doctor out way to much above the brows. Now I only get it on my elevens and frown lines. So you have it also the ends of the brows, for the lift of lids? How many units do you have?

I have just turned 62 and have been having fillers botox for about 15 years as a model. Since 2019 when I was in a coma for weeks due to my ex and DV I stopped going . I regained some confidence to start up as a model , had my lips done at the being of 2020 just as covid started lol. So got so fed up began researching it all myself. I'm great at doing threads and fillers but botox is a bit hit and miss. I put threads in my neck just did some today and so far so good. I couldn't do the whole lot in 1 hit as its quite painful. I can handle pain tho but I manged to get 2 threads in the same cannula hole. Which is a first for me. I normally do botox in my neck but I'm 62 lol its not working as good as it used to helps tho. Threads are the way to go for my neck. I may also use a bit of botox once iv done all my neck threads. Iv put 4 cog threads in today and can see the difference in my neck already. I have learnt a lot and don't see any harm if women can do this for themselves as long as we do our research. Botox and the eyes is the hardest I just can't seem to get the effect I'm after. I want the old school look of being surpised lol. It would give me a more wide awake look and that's what I want . Doctors nurses dentist all want you to have the more natural look and as a model I would have to do what they wanted so I'm going to do my research yet again to get the look I want. This vid was very informative. Thank you so much. 💓

I am so glad I watched this video ! I always want my eyes lifted in the inner eyebrow near my nose but that is where it ends up drooping! Like you I have tried several injectors. I live in the USA and most of the nurse injectors
who do strictly botox and fillers go to lots of training conferences and even do some training on cadavers! None of them are near me. I’ve been to nurses and doctors and still end up with the inner eye lid drooping. There is a Dr Steven Harris in London whom i would love to see as he seems to be so knowledgeable on the anatomy of the face and his patients look so natural ! Maybe one day i’ll be lucky enough to be treated by him. 😊

Thank you for sharing your experience, I have never had a injection where it has caused a drooping eye, but I have never had any forehead Horizontal lines that has caused me to want to smooth them out with Botox. About 9 years ago I had a treatment called “altherapy” ( I believe that is the reason I never got any forehead lines. I had my upper face done which included my forehead, temples and eyes ). However now I am starting to get them, it started about 1 year ago, but still not enough to get Botox done, I have other issues that I am working on like loss of face volume. I am 61 years old and will be 62 in 6 months, I do have hooded eyes, I had my upper lids done 9years ago. My right eye has began to droop, I am going to try RF treatments and see if that will help. I am seriously thinking of getting “PDO THREADS” because I like the lifted eye lid look and it helps with causing you to build collagen as well. I was wondering if you considered doing that? I have been doing everything skin wise and treatments that has helped me to age gracefully, and they have worked so far. I wondered if you have consider doing threads, and if so, are you interested in it or completely against it? I always love to hear everybody’s opinions? It gives me another perspective on a certain types of treatments, helps me make my decision and to do more research on the different types of treatments… 🙂

Thank you so much for doing this video, for taking the time to research and share your experiences. I really want to have this done myself sometime and I think that at the end of the day, no matter who you go to, there is always the chance that the outcome may not be as you expect. Even if you go to someone with a good reputation be it 'online' or word of mouth, you take a risk. I think that the most important factor is that whoever you go to is open, honest and definitely has that two week review option. x

Hi there, the other thing to consider is what product is being used. Not all practitioners use Botox. Some use Azzalure which works a bit differently, doesn't last as long and is cheaper (for the practitioner to buy but not necessarily for us!). As I understand it, Azzalure is more likely to migrate and therefore cause a droop than Botox.💋

Oooh, that's something I could perhaps do another video on - I did think about mentioning it as here in the UK there are big differences between whats used - Vistabel is very popular here, I don't think we have Azzalure - I think what people will be shocked to learn though is that some are tested on mice in a horrendous way and more recently there is a cruelty free version. I also want to do an "Is Botox Safe" but my stomach hurts just thinking about the negative comments from that one! PS. Thanks for your words to Thomasine above, really made me smile :0) x

Mrs Gingers Beauty Channel hi, yes I am in the UK and we definitely have Azzalure . It's made by Galderma . I recently discovered that's what I have been having even though I thought I was getting Botox . I haven't had any problems with it, but I know it's not as effective and long lasting as the Botox from Allergen. My friend has had both and she assures me the Botox works way quicker, lasts longer and is more likely to give you a frozen look if that's what you're after. Also, Botox is much more expensive to buy, so we are being ripped off a bit really if we're paying £300 for three areas of Botox and getting Azzalure or something else ! That's what I have been led to believe anyway 💕💕

don't know wherever you found out yet with your Botox not working but, I've been doing a lot of research on Botox lately. As I've just been and had it done yesterday, So i wanted more information as you do. Anyway, I've read your body can get amune to Botox. So they say you should try a different type, Like say dysport or instants. Then when it's time to go again switch back to Botox or a different kind again and so on, Hope this helps xx

How did you find your 3 treatment from plexr? Do you think that is blepharoplasty in lazer without the side effects of the original one? I now on my 2 cond treatment and I would be so happy to evaluate youe plexr treatments.

No, I don't think its blepharoplasty without the side effects, I think its good though. Its just a lot lot milder and worked more on texture. x

Most injectors seem to be one size fits all. I gave this injector 3 chances, and he drooped my brows. I'm going to someone else. You are so right. You can't have both. You can't be completely frozen on the forehead and think you can get an amazing brow lift. I don't want the spock look. Best to tell the injector what you don't want. I had 1 girl tell me that I want the whole brow lifted, but it didn't work when I told the next person that. My horizontal lines did come back sooner, but at least my brows weren't drooped. Still, I've seen women that get that frozen forehead and still have a nicely raised brow. I think it's more a matter of placement and knowing how much to inject in each area. If you put too much in one area and not enough in another area you will definitely have issues if your trying to get specific results. As long as your trained well, a person that is in the beauty industry and has had the procedure done and past nursing experience, in my opinion, I would trust.

Great video, however, I am an injector and wanted to make you aware that there is absolutely a botox anti toxin. It is not routinely used or available, but it is available from the CDC and can be received within 24 hours, but is reserved for catastrophic events. An example that comes to mind is when a dentist injected botox rather than a dental block intended for lip filler anesthesia.

    Hi Karen
Such a great video to watch. I had Botox quite a few times last year 3 months apart mainly to try and soften out the lines on my forehead and in between brows which turned out great ...however I also have lines at the side of the end of my brows from lifting my brows (hope that makes sense) and my practitioner was trying to get rid of these however he was worried about going to low with the injection as my eyebrow could drop. Which it did on the one side (right brow) so I have more of a hooded eye on one side than the other. The last lot I had was in October and it doesn't seem to have improved as I thought it would. I hate it. Watching your video has made me realise that they can go lower on the injection sites as I was told they couldn't! Thank you and just want to say I love your videos after only finding you recently 😘 Claire xx

You look GREAT ! Im very happy I found this. Have you tried Dysport ? Im going for f free consultation with a lady dr in my local are but she only offers Dysport not Botox as well. I believe it may be worth checking her out after reading her qualification. Among others she is a qualified cosmetic physician. Ive never had Botox or anything before... this would be my first time and i want my eye brows lifted a little in the outer 3rd and am considering my 11's. maybe ! as i will be starting on other products in about a month that will get rid of my 11's so im not sure yet. i have nothing to worry about in my forehead. I would love t hear what you think about Dysport please ? Thank you.

Hi Rach, to my knowledge I have never had dysport, but I believe that the effects aren't as strong as with Botox - its more diluted. I don't actually know anything about Dysport off the top of my head though, I'd have to research it. x

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm afraid its not that simple as it depends on different foreheads and face shapes and what the individual wants! Generally if you don't want low eyebrow then don't have any injections in the forehead, only the brows. x

I'm not sure the dots in the images from some of the sources are intended to show the actual injection sites, but moreso the areas that will be impacted. If someone doesn't know the term crow's feet, they can see where the dots are around the outer eye as the location of the problem. Luckily I live in Houston and the chart from Houston looked more correct! :)

    • @TheBeautyMaverick

I found it to be trial & error and everyone's muscles are slightly different. To avoid droop, stick to NO injections in the forehead, and only one in-between your eyebrows. Then if the person is experienced, a couple along the top of the brow should be ok but even they can go wrong. x

It depends what he meant - different places use different formulas such as Vistabel, Azzalure etc. I'm going to do a video on them I think. Do you mean diluted? That's not something I've heard of, but if there is a way to dilute it I doubt that a company would do that as the results would be less and therefore their reputation would suffer, it doesn't make business sense to know up front you aren't going to achieve what the client wants! x

what exactly is botox made out of?

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Botox is a neurotoxin derived from Clostridium botulinum, an organism found in the natural environment where it is largely inactive and non-toxic. However, Botox that is used in cosmetic procedures is not, as people believe, the toxin - it is a purified derivative. I will be doing a video on the safety. Karen x

The best way to treat droopy eyelids is to put a bit of filler into the eyebrows. It pulls up the crepe skin and gives you s very nice arch above the eye. Trying to get a brow lift with Botox is nearly impossible. It's such a crap shoot. But Juvederm? Always a winner!! I've been treating patients this way for 12 years. 😄

You re courageous by going to a nurse or beautician but that s because you are also a nurse. I live in central London- Knightsbridge and I would always recommend to see a doctor, dermatologist dentist cosmetic doctor or plastic surgeon ,they have knowledge about anatomy the physiology and the chemical components of the injectables. In case of an emergency you re classified dead on the chair. in France aesthetic injections are only for dermatologist and plastic surgeons and that s a much more academic country than England. Doctors are cautious because of their knowledge not because the lack of knowledge . All the best x

The reason why nurses are better at injecting is because they do it a lot more than doctors and are more experienced than beauticians. The nurses the ones giving the shots (intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous) before going into aesthetics. I've seen a doctor do a live injection of a filler and it seemed like it leaked 100% out of the skin and he was the one instructing people. He doesn't know the length of the needle and when to stop injecting and he's just wasting the product.

You seem to contradict your self saying do not go to dentists as they do not have the cosmetic knowledge but then neither do nurses!
I have been to nurses that have dropped my top lip as they had injected incorrectly into either zygomaticus or levator labii.
I have been to Beauty therapists who have not!
I myself am a experienced beauty therapist and nutritional therapist who has also trained in administering Botox and so I have knowledge of Anatomy and physiology and have studied it over and over with each new course. I therefore deem it very unfair for you to advise that nurses are the best option to perform anti-wrinkle treatments. It depends on the ability of the practitioner and the training they have had and if they follow it correctly.

The. Experience and skill comes from simply the number of clients and time, I’ve had better results from beauty clinicians bc I believe the sheer number of ppl they see as opposed to doctors dentist or even nurses who tend to be overly cautious which is a good thing but Botox is not a big money maker really so a more artistic minded technician will see your face and just have a different approach and seem to be better able with their proper training of course
