My facial muscles are much stronger on the right side of my face, so I never received even results with a Botox brow lift. I went to a med spa for answers because I was trying to avoid surgery. HUGE MISTAKE!!! They told me I needed an upper blepharoplasty. The MD Dermatologist they have on staff performs the surgery in office. He uses absorbable sutures and leaves them in for two weeks. I’m 5 weeks post-op and my scars are HUGE, still swollen & inflamed. Makeup does not cover them & they’re not hidden in my natural creases. IPL laser treatments typically aren’t used on eyelids because the laser can damage eyesight. Now I’ll probably need a revision AND I still need the brow lift I was seeking in the first place!!! Don’t avoid plastic surgeons like I did. They’re wonderful and will actually save you money and emotional anguish.
Thank you for this video! I had the endoscopic brow lift about 2 months ago. I went to a reputable and well sought out surgeon. Here's my thoughts: -It didn't quite lift my brow as much as I wanted but it took away all the wrinkles on my forehead and around the outer eye area. I am 64. - The recovery process is not as easy as what surgeons say. The immediate recovery is a bit rough. I felt like someone had bat my head. Being two months out, the top of my head is still numb. The area where the endotynes are planted are sensitive. Make sure before you get the surgery to get everything done to your hair. Hopefully, on my next hair visit I can get a cut since the area was too sensitive to put a comb. The surgery also change a little bit of my facial structure. My nose area just seems a little bit different being that he pulled the area between my brows up. Also, The surgeon modified the glebellar (11) lines, where it is more difficult to frown but I still can. Overall I'm satisfied. The lumps from the endotynes are still pretty prominent but I understand will take 9 months too subside. The good news is that the prong area of the endotynes seems to dissolve the quickest. They get less sharp and sensitive. Just my two cents.....

Hello Dr! Thanks for this very informative video. I have been aware of different techniques when I went for this procedure; I had endoscopic brow lift and upper blepharoplasty performed in May. Unfortunately the result was not satisfying, left me with brows not symmetrical and excess skin left over one of eyelids. My surgen was understanding, even she noticed the significant differance between the two sides and we agreed on a correction. This second operation was performed by incisions directly over the brows. One brow had to be slightly elevated to reach the same horisontal level as the other one, plus the lateral wings of both would be lifted. I am totally aware of the scars of course. My wish from start has been lifted brows, with nice outer wings, and symmetry. By now I went through 2 surgeries at a big clinic with a plastic surgen very experienced and knowledgable. 6 months after first surgery last week I had the second one, for correction of brows. Now I am very very very sad. The sutures are now removed, and the brows have completely different shape, one is arched, the other is plane. Since more correction was needed on one side, that brow looks very odd. I am devostated. It is been one week after corrective op, I met a nurse for taking sutures, will meet my surgen in a couple of months.. I trusted her reputation completely, did my research before getting there, very disappointed ending up in this situation..I am a dentist as well, how can I show up in front of my patients with this appearance? The first question is how long after your first procedure are you? Sometimes it takes time for a patient to recover from a brow lift. Sometimes strategic Botox injections can compensate for asymmetries of the brow.
Hi, I am sorry you are not happy with your corrective surgery. I had a lateral brow lift myself and wanted to share with you what my surgeon told me - they try to achieve the most aesthetic result and not necessarily symmetry. So please allow your body to heal after your second procedure as well, it is very likely that the final result is only going to be noticeable in a few months time.

Thank you. I have seen the results of coronal brow lift the first one you mentioned. The results were very impressive and consistent. Can’t tell if there was a scar in a few months time. Although old but is the best imo.
Coronal brow lifts are generally no longer performed because they transect the ascending sensory nerves( which can lead to permanent sensory loss) and produce a long wide incisional scar
Great question. The answer is yes you do need to have general anesthesia for an endoscopic browlift. Surgery requires about 2 hours and usually my patients have their eyelids done at the same time. Hope this helps Lori.
I did the surgery and after two months my brows looked like the same. I was devastated. I told my surgeon and unfortunately he didn't give me a clear answer why the surgery didn't work. I told him that I heard something ripped like a stitch and he said oh yeah, maybe a stitch we will fix it by Botox. It cost me a lot of money to see zero result.
I have always had hooded eyes and a low eyebrow, but now that ive aged my eyebrows are lowering and ive noticed i tense my forehead to hold my eyebrows up, and its giving me gnarly migraines, so i want to get them lifted!
Hello Dr, my eyelids have no excess skin but the edge of my brows are slightly droopy when i'm tired so i'm getting a temporal brow lift along with a deep plane facelift this month. I understand the endoscopic method gives more drastic, long lasting results but by how many mm is the forehead raised? This is the main reason why i dont want this lift....i already have a long forehead/face and by adding on to the length i will look even more disproportionate. I wish I would have seen this sooner I had an upper blepharoplasty and a bilateral internal brow pexy on November the 11th 2022. During surgery of the left eye I woke up and heard my doctor say Oh no! Then I felt like she was pulling my eyeball out with with what looked like strings. At home I looked absolutely horrific , my eyes were swollen they had bags of blood under each eye. Bruised and everything hurts. My eyebrows starting to look like the Freddie monster look and I had these swollen areas above the end of each eyebrow. I still have these knots that are really hurting now. It looks like a cluster of blood vessels that travel down to my cheeks on each side of my face. They are very noticeable and I can feel them. Both eye lids now look droopy yet again. And having daily headaches. Note, my doctor left, left eye lid drooped again. Had left eye lid surgery again on it June I, 2023 by another doctor. Do you have any idea as to what she could have done to have this outcome? And, can this be fixed?? My nerves are shot and needless to say my face is messed up. Thanking you in advance for your expertise advice.
Very very well explained. I did my upper and lower eye lids, and the doctor took too much from all 4 sides. Now, to close my eyes I need to force a little. It stays open like 3 millimeters. I am not sure that a doctor can fix this.
You need to protect your corneas if you have significant exposure. It may take time for the tissues to relax but if they don't then you may have to seek an evaluation by a ophthalmic plastic surgeon who is familiar with ways , both medically and surgically,to remedy your problem

It really depends on who you go to and where you live. My recommendation is that you should always seek out an expert who has extensive experience doing the procedure. Prices range from 8K-12K. Hope this helps!

The temporal lift does not release all the attachments that are necessary to achieve a long lasting result. An endoscopic procedure that releases all these attachments is the way to go.

So, does age matter for an endoscopic brow lift? because I'm a 22 year old woman, and my eyes are in my opinion really hooded and maybe even more on one side and when I smile I see so-called "crow's feet" too. It's probably due to genetics from my family but I'm kinda insecure about it and would like to be a little bit more lively looking instead of looking like I haven't slept all night. Another thing to, is it true if you get a brow lift will your forehead go higher? because I have a high forehead and I would want to make sure that a brow lift would not make my high forehead go any higher. Endoscopic browlifts can raise the forehead skin and "unfurl" the wrinkles on your forehead By raising your brows you will probably have less tendency to use your forehead (frontalis muscle) which caused the horizontal furrowing .

Having androgenic alopecia already makes you at a greater risk for hair loss following an endoscopic brow lift a better option would be a gliding browlift which doesn't undermine the scalp
I had a hairline brow lift two months ago. One side looks great, while the other side "fell", as described by the doctor during today's visit. That side gets a free "do-over" surgery, but the doctor recommended getting botox injections two weeks prior to hold things in place. That doesn't excite me. The side with the problems had very stubborn over-eye swelling & under-eye bruising, but the scars are fading pretty fast, thankfully. That raises another concern for me, though... Will another surgery in the same place result in lumpy scar tissue? I have a lot of hair, but a high forehead, and would like to go back to wearing it shorter on occasion.
Botox prior to a second browlift on the problem side is a good idea because the brow depressor muscles will be weak while the elevation from the repeat browlift heals.
An endoscopic browlift can be performed without an upper eyelid blepharoplasty but most of the time an upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed at the same time
in my experience endoscopic browlifts do not significantly raise the hairline however if your hairline is starting out high then I may suggest a gliding browlift
Is it possible with the endoscopic lift, to only lift (or lift more..) the medial brow and not raise the outer part..? I’ve been recommended by a plastic surgeon to have this procedure, but she said the orientation of the pull has to go diagonally outwards, so it would not be possible. In my case I am afraid this would change my appearance and facial expressions, and I don’t want that.. My brows have never had a raised lateral tail, and I don’t fancy that look on myself..
Usually the entire forehead attachments have to be released in order to get a long lasting result but the lift can be engineered to lift primarily your medial brow
Great question! Botox inhibits the downward contraction of the central depressor muscles(between your eyebrows) this allows the elevator muscles called the frontalis muscles to lift the brows upward unapposed There is kind of pull/ counter-pull between these muscle groups. Hope that clarifies the mechanism
That is definitely incorrect. Don’t get confused by the information out there. I have never done fox eye on a patient and have used an endoscopic approach to lifting the brow for my entire career

Late 50s male here going for a deep plane facelift / neck lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, fat transfer and browlift ... what do you suggest as the best browlift procedure? The one side droops a fair bit more and I have deep creases of the corners of eyes, though not so much further down when it comes to crows feet. My doctor stated of simply removing a small wedge of skin in a crease of the forehead, though am I wrong in thinking that an endoscopic brow lift could better address not just the eyebrows but also help somewhat with those corner of the eye creases, I just watched a video showing how the tissues in that zone can be better released. I'm dishing out a lot of dough for the browlift itself and of course desire the best result for the buck! 👍
Your medical history will be important to determine whether you are a good candidate for the procedure. For instance if you have a bad heart I would not encourage it. Regardless a medical work up is required before undergoing anesthesia for the browlift.

Had upper bleth and all he said is true. Luckily my surgeon left enough skin on laterally to have brow lift later. He said he would do a gliding brow lift. They leave a mesh in place to stop the fluid. doc what do you think of this as apposed to endoscopic. ❤❤❤❤❤
Gliding browlifts are becoming more common. I like the results you can get from both an endoscopic and gliding approach but it’s really on a per patient basis which approach is best.
Surprised you didn't mention tricophytic browlift. Also, you didn't mention hair loss for the endoscopic. I had one place to lift and my hairline in that spot is not only higher but hair is thinner. Still has a funny feeling in that are and it's been 17 years. I think the tricophytic is best. It's at the hairline and the hair will eventually grow through the scar.
Hair loss is usually from placing too much tension on the hair follicles hen the scalp is pulled back. The best new technique is a gliding brow lift that does not recess your hairline
Endoscopic brow lift if performed correctly can last for many years but some people (due to their skin and soft tissue laxity) have recurrent brow ptosis despite having undergone excellent surgical technique.In those patients I recommend a gliding subcutaneous brow lift

What do you mean with « the other approach leads to secondary morbidities »? If I understood correctly (please correct me if not) the first approach to temporal brow lift you mention is basically not releasing the brow subcutaneously, which equals to a simple skin lift which won’t keep the brow upright. But you imply the other approach (I assume releasing the brow subcutaneously without an endoscope) is leading to secondary morbidities… too much of a trauma to the body? I have heard the use of an endoscope really is necessary only if you plan on releasing more than the outer corner of the brow, otherwise a « blind » subcutaneous approach is fine as long as you don’t go past the outer third corner. You don’t seem to agree? Also, how would you compare this approach to a direct lift via the incision of a blepharoplasty (but a smaller one for patients who don’t need a bleph) which would « push » the brow upwards from under (endoscope also used). Both are minimally invasive, both have scars more or less hidden (palpebral fissure or scalp). Of course it depends on the patient but I feel it sometimes depends on the surgeon and what he/she likes (for ex. occuloplasticians will likely go for direct approaches). I am asking all this out of sheer interest but I’m also seriously considering travelling across 3 states to come to your practice for this op. Thanks!
A subcutaneous browlift without a hematic net is unlikely to last very long . Endoscopic browlifts have incisions placed behind the hairline and heal well . I do not advocate for direct browlifts because the incision will be noticeable. I perform direct browlifts only on elderly men who don't want to have a more involved procedure and who don't care if an incisional scar can be seen.
I had a consultation with the specialist and told me that he notice the I do need eyelids surgery he notice my eyebrows to be low but told ne you can get a scar on your forehead. So he recommended to di the eyelids than after to see how the results are and if need to do the eyebrow lifts than we can do it after. Is there less scarring with endoscopic eyebrow lift. Is it ok to do what he recommends or do both the same tome

Note, my doctor left, left eye lid drooped again. Had left eye lid surgery again on it June I, 2023 by another doctor.
Do you have any idea as to what she could have done to have this outcome? And, can this be fixed?? My nerves are shot and needless to say my face is messed up.

Very very well explained. I did my upper and lower eye lids, and the doctor took too much from all 4 sides. Now, to close my eyes I need to force a little. It stays open like 3 millimeters. I am not sure that a doctor can fix this.
You need to protect your corneas if you have significant exposure. It may take time for the tissues to relax but if they don't then you may have to seek an evaluation by a ophthalmic plastic surgeon who is familiar with ways , both medically and surgically,to remedy your problem

It does not matter. I commonly do both procedures on the same day for my patients.

Yes it works. But you can get a considerable amount of swelling after surgery. My preferred method is endoscopic approach to lifting the brow.

The temporal lift does not release all the attachments that are necessary to achieve a long lasting result. An endoscopic procedure that releases all these attachments is the way to go.
I’m scheduled for a temporal brow lift and facelift. I would prefer endoscopic but surgeon doesn’t do them. Should I skip the brow lift altogether or do it now and later do an EBL?

The first easy step would be to see if Botox helps to raise your central brow If that does not work then consider having a brow lift

So, does age matter for an endoscopic brow lift? because I'm a 22 year old woman, and my eyes are in my opinion really hooded and maybe even more on one side and when I smile I see so-called "crow's feet" too. It's probably due to genetics from my family but I'm kinda insecure about it and would like to be a little bit more lively looking instead of looking like I haven't slept all night. Another thing to, is it true if you get a brow lift will your forehead go higher? because I have a high forehead and I would want to make sure that a brow lift would not make my high forehead go any higher. You would recommend an endoscopic brow lift because it is less painful and less bruising right? Thanks for sharing this video!

Your age does not preclude you from getting a browlift but if you have a high forehead you might want to consider a gliding browlift
When you do an endoscopic browlift, do you do only the tail of the eyebrow? or you necessarily lift all of the eyebrow?
the endoscopic brow lift can lift the full length of the brow or just a segment
Does endoscopic tighten overall forehead skin or just reposition eyebrows? I have horizontal forehead lines from skin laxity.
Endoscopic browlifts can raise the forehead skin and "unfurl" the wrinkles on your forehead
By raising your brows you will probably have less tendency to use your forehead (frontalis muscle) which caused the horizontal furrowing .

Having androgenic alopecia already makes you at a greater risk for hair loss following an endoscopic brow lift a better option would be a gliding browlift which doesn't undermine the scalp
I had a hairline brow lift two months ago. One side looks great, while the other side "fell", as described by the doctor during today's visit. That side gets a free "do-over" surgery, but the doctor recommended getting botox injections two weeks prior to hold things in place. That doesn't excite me. The side with the problems had very stubborn over-eye swelling & under-eye bruising, but the scars are fading pretty fast, thankfully. That raises another concern for me, though... Will another surgery in the same place result in lumpy scar tissue? I have a lot of hair, but a high forehead, and would like to go back to wearing it shorter on occasion.
Botox prior to a second browlift on the problem side is a good idea because the brow depressor muscles will be weak while the elevation from the repeat browlift heals.

What happens if you do only the endoscopic eyebrow without the blapheroplasty?
An endoscopic browlift can be performed without an upper eyelid blepharoplasty but most of the time an upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed at the same time

You can certainly do a browlift without the need to a blepharoplasty. It is on a patient per patient basis.
What happens to the hairline? Does one always get higher forehead after that?
in my experience endoscopic browlifts do not significantly raise the hairline however if your hairline is starting out high then I may suggest a gliding browlift

Prices range can vary but it is usually in the range of 10k+ for a browlift surgery because it involves anesthesia as well.
Is it possible with the endoscopic lift, to only lift (or lift more..) the medial brow and not raise the outer part..? I’ve been recommended by a plastic surgeon to have this procedure, but she said the orientation of the pull has to go diagonally outwards, so it would not be possible. In my case I am afraid this would change my appearance and facial expressions, and I don’t want that.. My brows have never had a raised lateral tail, and I don’t fancy that look on myself..
Usually the entire forehead attachments have to be released in order to get a long lasting result but the lift can be engineered to lift primarily your medial brow

Great question! Botox inhibits the downward contraction of the central depressor muscles(between your eyebrows) this allows the elevator muscles called the frontalis muscles to lift the brows upward unapposed There is kind of pull/ counter-pull between these muscle groups. That is definitely incorrect. Don’t get confused by the information out there. I have never done fox eye on a patient and have used an endoscopic approach to lifting the brow for my entire career

It does raise the forehead a slight bit, not significant. 1-2 mm in length increase.

Late 50s male here going for a deep plane facelift / neck lift, upper and lower blepharoplasty, fat transfer and browlift ... what do you suggest as the best browlift procedure? The one side droops a fair bit more and I have deep creases of the corners of eyes, though not so much further down when it comes to crows feet. My doctor stated of simply removing a small wedge of skin in a crease of the forehead, though am I wrong in thinking that an endoscopic brow lift could better address not just the eyebrows but also help somewhat with those corner of the eye creases, I just watched a video showing how the tissues in that zone can be better released. I'm dishing out a lot of dough for the browlift itself and of course desire the best result for the buck! 👍

Your medical history will be important to determine whether you are a good candidate for the procedure. For instance if you have a bad heart I would not encourage it. Regardless a medical work up is required before undergoing anesthesia for the browlift.

Had upper bleth and all he said is true. Luckily my surgeon left enough skin on laterally to have brow lift later. He said he would do a gliding brow lift. They leave a mesh in place to stop the fluid. doc what do you think of this as apposed to endoscopic. ❤❤❤❤❤
Gliding browlifts are becoming more common. I like the results you can get from both an endoscopic and gliding approach but it’s really on a per patient basis which approach is best.

Surprised you didn't mention tricophytic browlift. Also, you didn't mention hair loss for the endoscopic. I had one place to lift and my hairline in that spot is not only higher but hair is thinner. Still has a funny feeling in that are and it's been 17 years. I think the tricophytic is best. It's at the hairline and the hair will eventually grow through the scar.
Hair loss is usually from placing too much tension on the hair follicles hen the scalp is pulled back. The best new technique is a gliding brow lift that does not recess your hairline

Endoscopic brow lift if performed correctly can last for many years but some people (due to their skin and soft tissue laxity) have recurrent brow ptosis despite having undergone excellent surgical technique.In those patients I recommend a gliding subcutaneous brow lift

What do you mean with « the other approach leads to secondary morbidities »? If I understood correctly (please correct me if not) the first approach to temporal brow lift you mention is basically not releasing the brow subcutaneously, which equals to a simple skin lift which won’t keep the brow upright. But you imply the other approach (I assume releasing the brow subcutaneously without an endoscope) is leading to secondary morbidities… too much of a trauma to the body? I have heard the use of an endoscope really is necessary only if you plan on releasing more than the outer corner of the brow, otherwise a « blind » subcutaneous approach is fine as long as you don’t go past the outer third corner. You don’t seem to agree?
Also, how would you compare this approach to a direct lift via the incision of a blepharoplasty (but a smaller one for patients who don’t need a bleph) which would « push » the brow upwards from under (endoscope also used). Both are minimally invasive, both have scars more or less hidden (palpebral fissure or scalp). Of course it depends on the patient but I feel it sometimes depends on the surgeon and what he/she likes (for ex. occuloplasticians will likely go for direct approaches). I am asking all this out of sheer interest but I’m also seriously considering travelling across 3 states to come to your practice for this op. Thanks!
A subcutaneous browlift without a hematic net is unlikely to last very long . Endoscopic browlifts have incisions placed behind the hairline and heal well . I do not advocate for direct browlifts because the incision will be noticeable. I perform direct browlifts only on elderly men who don't want to have a more involved procedure and who don't care if an incisional scar can be seen.
I had a consultation with the specialist and told me that he notice the I do need eyelids surgery he notice my eyebrows to be low but told ne you can get a scar on your forehead. So he recommended to di the eyelids than after to see how the results are and if need to do the eyebrow lifts than we can do it after. Is there less scarring with endoscopic eyebrow lift. Is it ok to do what he recommends or do both the same tome
