    I’m 43. Just got the call yesterday that I can expect an offer by end of week. Cybersecurity specialist for a hospital. 🤯. You need to turn out the noise (influencers) (not Mr. Moy)and get your hands dirty. Volunteer. Home labs. Etc. you got this. If I can, so can you. Just need to want it bad enough.

      Congrats Jesse! 🎉 I’m.. ahem…in my early 40s as well and I’m transitioning. I love learning and this field is right up my alley. This is refreshing to hear! Best of luck with the incoming offer! 👍🏾

    People are still getting jobs in IT. I literally trained someone over 50 and landed a job as tier 2 Support and he loves his job.

    Previous automotive mechanic for 15 years. I have been in IT industry for 6years now.
    Transferable Skill; Problem Solving.
    What is the issue? What does it do when its operating properly? What makes it work? things like this.

    As a young IT Security Analyst I enjoy working with older people as they’re willing to mentor and teach the younger generation about what it takes to be a cybersecurity professional to be proficient in what you do

    Also, if I had became immortal, I would spend the next 300-400 years into just Hacking, Cybersecurity, software dev, database, management, cyber-heists, Networking, robotics, and anything of that nature.
    Cybersecurity does require some hacking. It’s the main way to know how to defend yourself.

      Not all cybersecurity is hacking. It's a discipline within the industry. But I do agree with you, learning to defend yourself is always important.

    What is the best training path?

    • @CoreyHolzer
      @CoreyHolzer 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is no one training path. You can come at it from a networking perspective, a hacking perspective, a compliance perspective, etc. It depends on what aspect interests you the most. I say this as someone whose reinvented my tech career multiple times in multiple ways.

      I agree with Corey... There is no "magic" pill here. How you approach your cyber career can start from a technical vs non-technical approach. If you choose technical, it can be from an infrastructure or software background. A lot of this depends on your current background and interests.

    Most new jobs are going to immigrants. That's what the latest stats show.

      Generally... Yes, maybe but this isn't the case with cybersecurity.

      Hard working immigrants will replace debt ridden and over paid Americans. There 1,000,000 or so Canadians in the US on NAFTA work visas entirely invisible to Americans.
