2023年12月5日に元ウイングスのデニーレインが亡くなりました。
謹んでご冥福をお祈りいたします。
デニー・レインといえば、結成から解散までウイングスに所属していたことで知られています。相次ぐメンバー脱退の中でもポール＆リンダと共にバンドを影から支えてきた「ウイングス第3の男」ですが、意外とその功績はポールの陰に隠れて知られることがありません。
また、ウイングス解散後の活動があまりにも地味だったため、今では存在感を失っている人でもありました。
しかし、デニーがウイングス、ポールにとって欠かせない人物であったことは確かです。
前述の通りバンドに残り続けたこともそうですが、彼はジョン・レノンに次いで多くポールと共作した人物であり、ことに1977年～1978年には彼お得意のフォーク・ソング（民謡）風の曲を大量に発表し、ウイングスの一時代のサウンドを担っています。
また、自作曲を発表したり、ヴォーカル曲があったりとポールの歴史、
ことにウイングスの歴史を語る上で彼は鍵となる人物なのです。
またポールとデニーは気が合い、ポールはデニーに絶大な信頼を置いていたそうです。
このことからも、たとえ一時期でもポールにとってデニーは重要人物だったのです。
Time To Hide は1976年に発表されたウイングスのアルバム『スピード・オブ・サウンド』（ Wings at the Speed of Sound）に収録されたデニーレインの曲でリードボーカルもデニーがとっています。
私はデニーと言えば真っ先にこの曲が浮かんできました。

ウイングスのメンバー、もうポールだけになってしまいましたね😢 今ごろ天国でリンダとギター片手にこの曲を歌っているかもしれませんね。私は、デニーの曲ではありませんが、やはりオーバーツアーアメリカでの「ブルーバード」🎶でのデニーとリンダの美しすぎるコーラスが一番印象に残っています。改めてご冥福をお祈り申し上げます。素敵な追悼演奏を有り難うございます!流石です🎶👏👏👏👍
