lionheartx10 sorry I haven't been watching you for a few months now I'm back
lionheartx10 also why Rome there are more factions you could play with but you play with the trush? Really?
Di you replace the game's soundtrack with RTW's?
Alex the dominator
Play with the trush like big boy you are..... XD
MASTER MIND I meant Rome you idiot there are better factions than rome besides they were Greece's bitch.
8 minutes in, already planning to assassinate someone because you want someone else to lead the family.... certainly sounds like Rome XD
Ghost17 👍
Ghost17 or sounds like lionheart. lol
not assasinating just let him take a break (still sounds like an Assasination)
Ehhh, sounds more like Crusader Kings 2 if you ask me
It's faster to get rid of a family member through succession... lame update. WTB hard battles no family minigame.
The Rome 1 music track is very appropriate for this time period, very immersive just watching this
Yaa, it gave me goosebumps hearing it. The original is still my favorite TW game for some reason
It’s still a popular one, I still play it along side Medieval II and that lets play series by manyatruenerd was entertaining
THANK YOU! I thought it was TWR soundtrack, glad someone confirmed it :D
Did CA add rome 1 music as the default, or is lionheart using the mod?
My guess is the mod. It's updated very quickly I've noticed. Although I used it before and it is excellent, I switched recently to the Alexander soundtrack mod. It fits so well with this game it's unreal. Goosbumps every battle.
I forgot how much i love that city expansion animation.
Big mood
As a bit of historical context:
''The second founding of Rome'', by Livy. After the seven mythological kings of Rome -- Romulus, the warrior; Numa, the priest; Tullius, the fighter; Ancus, de builder; Tarquinius, the reformer; Servius, the stabiliser; Superbus, the proud -- the Roman Republic was ruled by two annual consuls. Superbus' son was involved in a scandal, which made the Romans suspicious of kings and their seemingly endless power. Thus the consuls. After the sack of Rome, Camillus became dictator in order to ''refound'' Rome, a second Romulus. This is the period in which we will enjoy Lionheartx10's campaign! :)
If you'd like me to do more historical bits and pieces, let me know!
thanks tim
What's the meaning of your profile picture?
Bolshevik Leninist It's the "flag" of a podcast I find rather enjoyable: Hello Internet by Brady (Numberphile) and Grey (CGP Grey).
Thanks. I love gears in symbolism, as you can probably tell.
Thanks Tim.
Alright, Let's get the memes out.
"ANAKIN, MY ALLEGIANCE IS TO THE REPUBLIC! TO DEMOCRACY!"
LOL
If your not with me....then you're my enemy.
Mitts its over anakin i have the high ground
Only a barbarian deals in absolutes!
YOU WILL TRY!
Ive missed seeing cities with more than one wall
LOL!
This DLC is the first Total War content I've preordered. I consider it an early birthday gift for myself since its release is the day before my birthday.
Because of you, everytime I start a Rise of the Republic campaign, when the guy says "May Mars watch over you" I invariably say, "May Mars watch over us all" in a British accent. Its become tradition
this was my first LP from you I watched, it seriously was one of my favourites and got me into Rome 2, saw this in my recommended after forever, feels strangely nostalgic. Thanks dude
The guy who keeps telling you your men are wavering and fleeeing while you’re completely dominating the other army should be sent on a solo charge next time
I call him captain obvious. He makes me rage so much. I can see the flags flashing! Stop telling me stuff I already know! I have shouted at my computer multiple times due to captain obvious.
He never really dominated he destroyed his army when he outnumbered the enemy 3-1
That "guy" is Mark Strong.
Three battles in one episode... Mars favors rome on this day.
He actually followed the old hoplite fighting style of putting your best on the left flank
This is one of your best videos! I have watched it countless times, and you inspired me to start playing this game. Amazing channel here guys.
80min video?! is it my birthday? getting popcorn before watching
Marcus "Furius" Camilus ok this man has the coolest Latin name ever!
If Marvel had been around in roman times this man would have his own action figure and movie series ;-p
Now this is a campaign that I can get excited about!
Again quality content and strategies from lionheart❤👍
Always wanted to play as the Samnites, I kept hoping for a faction mod.
This is way better I could have imagined.
Ah, this brings back some memories... the original Rome 2 campaign was the first lionheart series I watched, and the first Total War gameplay I ever saw.
And I've been hooked on watching more of both ever since 😁👍
I love this game. Wish I had a strong enough pc to play it. The Roman era is my favorite in all of human history. I play rome tw all the time but this game is so much more fleshed out.. I want it
Rome 2 has turned into a great game recently. If you get a strong enough pc to play it, get it.
I have a strong enough PC, but welp older TW games are not made to run on AMD CPUs. ;( But atleast i can play both Warhammers.
Tbh I like the Germanic tribes better
I can't play Warhammer TWs for some reason, they crash, but I run Rome 2 great and I just got it yesterday, it looks pretty neat, I was addicted to Rome 1 too, but the TW game I played the most was Shogun 1.
@@Malik-ni1qo tbh actually they are all Slavic tribes.
Watched most if not all of your Rome 2 Videos, Can't wait to see more parts or this Campaign. Keep up the Awesome work!
I love the way CA keeps adding DLC to old historical games like Rome 2 which is my favourite Total War by far.
6:56 There is a difference between Faction Leader and Family Leader.
Within your own family, you have a leader who has two intrigues that only he / she (only men can be leaders, generals or admirals for factions with the "Family Duty" trait for women, such as Rome) can use. These intrigues are "Educate" (for children) and "Declare Heir". Both of these intrigues are supposed to require a lot of gravitas, so whoever is Family Leader should be someone who can accumulate a lot of gravitas per turn. One intrigue is locked off from the Family Leader, which is "Usurp Legacy" - that is available for all other characters in your bloodline who are eligible for Family Leader, and is supposed to require a lot of gravitas to initiate. That intrigue is also supposed to be used to replace the Family Leader if his / her gravitas accumulation is too slow and there is someone else in the family who is better suited for the role. I think a Family Leader who has a lot of gravitas may also affect loyalty from other parties as well, but I'm not sure whether it's positive or negative.
The Faction Leader is just a trait that gives a few buffs (increased gravitas accumulation per turn, more morale / public order to leading an army / navy etc) to whoever has it and also represents their faction in the diplomacy screen. In a Republic government type, I think the trait moves to anyone with the top three highest gravitas values in your faction, including characters from a different party - it doesn't just stay with your family like it used to and is supposed to move around a bit unpredictably, unless you're in a different government type like a Monarchy or Empire which ties the Faction Leader trait to the Family Leader.
EDIT: A CA representative said on the forums that, in a Republic, the Faction Leader trait is moved to whoever has the highest gravitas, but I once had a character in another party - who had the highest gravitas - not get the trait after the previous Faction Leader died, so I don't think that's true. I'm just assuming that it's the top few, since it's a bit random.
Are you Benjin the mod guy? Man your mods are awesome
Thank you - yes, I'm the same dude :)
Benjin yes same!
About 4 minutes in and the music is bringing me right back to Rome: Total War
I love your chanel, you look after your subscribers and you accept the bad and good opinion which is very rare at this moment...never give up and continue your work
36:10 "I love democracy, I love the republic. The power you give me, I will lay down once this crisis has abated"
22 minutes - Totally agree about just playing with the first weather condition. Battles look so damn sweet in thunder or snow!
I love how it has total war rome music, it's nostalgic
its a mod
It beautiful, folks like you are here to help new players.I bottom when had bugs in and threw down and now 2019 and love it!
Hay hay haaaay. Glad to see you and Jackie fish got this up. I was hoping this time period of rome and Italy would be included in rome 2 back when they first announced it, but its here now!!! HUZZZZA!!!
Lionheart that was a awesome first battle liked your moves can't wait to watch this series!!!!!!
53:15 "PULLO! SINGLE FORMATION!"
Lionhart it makes only sense to kill enemy General if you can finish his Army in same turn. If not its better to leave him alive with depleted Bodyguards or you face a new general with full Bodyguards.
Sorry I'm late but you should kill it if you have no worries of losing men and you are winning the war anyways. Your units get experience
Ah, and a return to the nostalgia. I wonder if A Humble Pear will show up for this one. Sure hope so.
Hi
What's up! :D
A Humble Pear are you going to do a series for this series?
I would have loved to, but I know from experience that I can only handle one series at a time. It's a shame that we're missing stories for this series though
A Humble Pear are you only doing stories for historical total war campaigns or war hammer etc to?
Just listening to the background music gives me goosebumps. Looking forwards to more episodes my friend.
Hi, Lionheart!
It makes me so happy to see Rome return to the channel.
Here are a couple of observations:
1) You need money - loads of it. It would be worthwhile to establish an early game strategy for developing your finances. To that effect, I would suggest:
as soon as you can - get a fleet and send it to Sicily (the Greeks or the Carthaginians should be willing to trade with you by that time); on your way back - pay Sardinians a visit - maybe they'll trade.
prioritise growth buildings and money making buildings
2) You need to establish who you want to fight and quick - lest you get Gauls or the Samnites on your doorstep. You need to send out a spy, to establish which territories could be defended most easily. Due to the size of your military, you won't be able to fight a prolonged war - you will need a respite every so often.
3) You need to think about tactics. As far as I can see you have two choices on the battle map - play along with the troops you have or push heavily towards the swordsmen heavy army. In this part you have done the right thing trying to seek a balance. Still, as time goes on, I think you need to slowly phase out light hoplites in favour or swords and heavy spears.
That's all for now. Looking forward to part 2.
Regards
M
That was some battle on the open field loving it already =) and salute to the swords men who perished fighting on the walls o7
It makes me so happy to see you doing so well mate. I thought I would send you a comment on the first video of yours that i watched. keep doing you mate.
This dlc looks great!Love you lionheart!
Love seeing rome 2 again. Kudos
26:41 His mother warned him. Oh, sure, you’ll make some coin now, she said. But they’ll be back when the war starts, whisk you away to a battle, she said. Publius did not worry, he was in a crack unit or swordsman, and besides, he was always in the back row. Nothing could get to him there. He’d return a hero of Rome, and surely THEN Lucia would notice him.
His mother warned him, but he did not listen.
Great video man can not wait to get my hands on this DLC
Loving the Rome I battle music, great vid!
Sweet. Really happy you got early access to this.
Old Rome musics touched me in the soul
VORTAC same here
Good to be back
It has been years since I saw you last.
I think it was when you started your Rome campaign some time ago
Your voice alone just gained you another subscriber ;)
So good to hear the old Rome music.
Are you also aware of one more new feature: just like in ToB, ships now back off from the beach to make room for more after disembarking their troops, allowing you to disembark your entire army.
Really happy for a fresh series
I enjoy these historical gameplays a lot more :) keep it up
Ma man! Going at it with the great content.
Hey man i am also glad you playing Rome 2 again! Keep it up man!
Looking forward to watching another series of yours, Keep up the amazing work!
I'v been a huge fan of all total war , the problem is my computer crashed up ..... so now i Can only watch good séries like this one you are doing ....i'm actually watching your new séries on total war Attila and i saw that ... you are just an insane player !!

lionheartx10 damn still replying to people even if the vid is a year old
@@MxNbass he is a good dude that cares about his viewers (even new ones) RESPECT
Heather Hackart thats rare nowadays
Listening to a Rome podcast. So here I am to accompany it and play the game myself.
Emperor Lionheart. The Flavians stand with you wherever you go from the far corners of the East to open plains of Europe!
- " Rome shadows are fast. - Gaius Claudius Glaber." (From the Tv-show Spartacus)
- Good work by the way :D
Do I hear Rome 1 music^^ Great best total war music ever!
Lionheart10, you always do good and informative videos, all the best
In Roman society the family was a huge deal. Respecting the head of the family (the father) was paramount, even if the son held the highest office. There is a story that illustrates this. The father approached his son on horseback: he demanded (as a father) that his son (as consul) use his powers to order him (the father) to dismount.
I know this map well. In my Rome 2 I'm playing the Iceni with an alliance with the Germans and I took this city, before fighting scipio's forces. I placed my cavalry in that woods as as with your map the harbour is to the right and left but because the capture point is to the right of the city the enemy disembarked to the right, right into the charge of my chariots and horseman. Ahhh memories.
Totally gonna buy this game...IT LOOKS AMAZING!Great video....found a new addiction THANKS!
SO HYPED FOR THIS!!
Please play it on the zephyrus so I can judge the performance!
can't wait for this story line, and lets get the ball rolling
Just wanna say I recognize the Rome Total war original music and it's appreciated xD I heard your stream start and Waslike wait a min...
Rise of the Roman Republic!!! We shall show our enemies our power by growing strong!!!! We will show that we are a powerful republic!!!!
Heh, the intro cutscene is actually the ending cutscene of the tutorial campaign. Makes sense since you more or less pick up where you left that one off.
they should start making mini-campaigns for each era of roman power and conquest then string it up as another way of playing the grand campaign.
Well, it currently goes like this: Tutorial, Rise of the Republic, Grand Campaign, (Hannibal at the Gates), (Caesar in Gaul), Imperator Augustus, Empire Divided, >Total War Attila< Grand Campaign, The Last Roman, Age of Charlemagne. So I think you more or less already have most of the important history of Rome and its medieval revival in there.
Is it? I was under the impression that the prologue followed the third and last war. This is before that.
Michał Nycz I think you are right, but for some reason the developers chose to reuse characters and scenes from the prologue. It is roughly the same period, but slightly off as you suggest.
Ha makes sense i was thinking how did they get that actor to come back in just for that couple lines this late on after the games out
Enjoying it a year later
Not sure if you entirely figured it out, but after doing some reading on the forums, looks like Faction leader is the leader of the Entire faction (in this case Rome) and has the most gravitas period, where as Family leader is obviously just the head of your family. Not sure what makes it so they are different people in this case though.
Also, when first saw Rise of the Republic coming out, I was confused by why Consuls were temporary things, but now I realize it is because the Consular Tribune system was in place!
If history has taught me anything LH, I'd say family leader is just the oldest family member. While faction leader actually governs something.
Think of the dynasty system in CKII
It will greatly increase the sustain of your units if you aktivate the phalanx ability
Aye historical accuracy! Camilus was dictator when he conquered Veii
This is the most difficult campaign of any total war game I think... It is just SOO difficult
Greetings from tunisia! love your videos
Perfect i wanted this new campaign from you! Thanks lionhearth y are perfect
You should, in battles, place your slingers on an elevation in the ground, however slight, and fire at the enemy from above. They will deploy their own slingers. Whilst they are distracted, charge the front of their lines with your cavalry, then run away, and attack their flanks, and then, their back. Keep up this cycle until the enemy is tired enough for you to destroy them in one fell swoop.
Only do this if the enemy outnumbers you by a quarter of your forces or more.
The Rome 1 soundtrack!!!! AAAAAAAAAAA ❤️❤️
Some people somewhere probably: There's no way 300 Spartan hoplites held off all those Persians for so long.
50 Etruscan heavy hoplites against six centuries of Roman forces: Observe.
Next time you outnumber an enemy, deploy a double line. This way you wont be spread thin as in the first field battle. Cause some units get trapped and you get triple sandwiches. Thats no good for anyone
A cool formation to do in this game is to make your infantry make a line (I prefer spear men for this) then put 2 infantry troops on the right and left then put 1 to 4 siege equipment behind the frontline so the siege equipment is protected then if you want you can put some missile troops to support the lines in front of the siege equipment
Very noice how you always use the weather it gives u the first time
Lionheart don't do no weather changing for offensive sieges since if you are sieging you decide when to attack
Dank Bullet for army v army i get the no choosing the weather though
Consider me intrigued...
Good video love the vids keep the good work out
honestly my favorite thing to do is put my units in guard mode. They would last until literally the last man and can seriously help defense even if your flanked by other melee.
Man that music bring back so much nostalgia. I’m playing as the skaven in wh2 and I just can’t get behind the background chanting
Lionheart - simply enough, You may have different families (in this case - characters rather) not being part of Your family (born into it or adopted) but nonetheless being part of Your faction.
So You can have leader of the family, whom all Furiai must respect, but same time You can have faction leader, who for any reason has been designated to lead whole faction, at least officially.
It is something like driving from the backseat; difficult to implement into game world but pretty correct in historical/real life politics conditions.
Thought the point with choosing the weather is that, yes bad weather has an adverse effect on you, but it might have an even worse effect on your opponent. So for example rain will debuff archers, if i remember right; so choose rain if you have comparatively few missiles and you are fighting someone with a ton of archers
Quality content as always 👍🏻
I know it's a slightly cheap tactic but imo you should be doing more flanking with your ranged units
Alex Tettenborn Not cheap at all its a good tactic making the most of there ammo and damage instead of it getting shield blocked and damage dropped from armour to the front
Nothing cheap about it. In war you use whatever advantages you can get. I routinely use cavalry to lure enemy units away from the main battle line so they don’t have any impact until it is in my advantage to do so. Particularly things like hoplites or oathsworn. You should always be flanking with any non-defensive unit, ranged or otherwise. I’ve won battles by killing less than 25% of a full stack by using feints to pull enemy units far apart, using fire on flanked enemies, and cavalry charges combined with perfectly timed morale shocks/general abilities and some prep from a champion.
In total war the best weapon is morale. If the enemy is in a chain rout then that’s how you kill more while losing less.
In Rome, the Pater Familias (father of the family) was a position of great respect. Presumably, this update is differentiating between the position of Pater Familias (here, the family leader), and a political position - which of course could be attained by a family member, without him necessarily being the Pater Familias of a particular Roman gens.
Even a woman technically could have been Pater Familia, that was if there wasn't any old enough man in the family, until like Imperial Rome
Good old Mark Strong voicing the opening cutscene
Truly a last stand for the ages
Those hoplites sure put up a damn fight! Haha!
Had to re watch miss this one
watching the whole series over
When I bought Rome 2.
1. Plays faction Rome first in campaign.
2. Plays Sparta campaign later.
