So, as someone who also suffers from chronic health conditions and also has many pets, here is something to consider: have someone on call who you can pay to care for your animals until you are well enough to get back to caring for them yourself. If you know health is an issue, you have to have a back up plan that doesn't automatically mean re-homing. I think it's great that you are taking it slow to purchase more fish. Please DO make very slow, calculated decisions, which I know you will.
Oscars can have prolonged pouting fests and not eat. He will get over it. Excited to see you keeping them! I ADORE mine and they can be super rewarding. My dude will almost always take freeze dried krill, even when in full blown pout. Best of luck with them!

A little tip for chameleons, if part of their cage is taller than their people are then they become a lot less stressed. Height makes them feel safe. For literally tons or super awesome info you should listen to the chameleon breeders podcast.
Honestly, having gone through an extensive depressive episode while also caring for fish tanks, just the two I have became super overwhelming. I commend you for making such a difficult decision to re-home your pets. I'm happy to see that you're back! I look forward to seeing whatever you'd like to show us in the future! (And major hugs - health issues are super hard so do whatever is best for you as far as you feeling comfortable and content, if not also happy)
Re-homing an animal so that they can be taken care of when you're unable to is one of the most difficult things to have to do, but incredibly responsible of you. Don't be worried about other people's reactions; you did what needed to be done and it shows how much you love your fish.
It doesn't seem it because you're on that side of the camera, and we're watching from this side. But, remember, you inspire thousands of people every day. You bring smiles to faces all across the world. You're bringing goals to people's lives giving them reason to keep working hard at life, even when it feels like nothing will be better. I do have to disagree, I keep a lot of aquatic life, they take 10 mins to feed a day, and 1 hour every week to change waters. My other animals take a couple of hours EVERYDAY to sort them out.

I recently got Oscars as well. I have previous experience with them. They detest change. I call them water puppies. If he is used to being with other oscar, put a mirror at one end of the tank so he sees his entire body or get one more of his tank mates. In general, I like to keep Oscar in 3s. Spend time with him, and play with him. You must have a cat lazer light toy? Use it to play with your fish. Stimulate the hunting response. If you can somehow possibly find out what his previous owner was feeding. Finding that specific food would help get this baby eating again. Glad you are back! Not sure what happened, but sounds like you did the right thing by stopping and taking care of you first! Good luck all around!
I personally wouldn't recommend trying to keep two adult Oscars in a tank that size, especially if they aren't a breeding pair. The tanks are only 4x2x2 nowhere near enough space for two oscars to try to form their own territories.

I think you should buy Tilapia and cut it to pieces to feed your Oscar. I've seen picky eaters love the Tilapia so there's a good chance he might eat it. Plus it helps the fish grow quicker.
I wanted to say that I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE FEELING BETTER. and also know this that to whoever would be upset with you rehoming your animals because it were to better how they live they can suck it up. you were doing what was best for them and you. I dont doubt it was hard because i know it was. I do. and im sorry . but dont ever be afraid because people will be upset cause thats their problem and they just have to deal with their problems. im just happy knowing that you are doing what you want and you are okay!

So glad you're doing better! At the lowest stage in my mental health, I remember losing interest in everything I had once loved doing. I used to read and draw everyday, I used to drive to the lake a few times a week, and all of a sudden I couldn't do any of it anymore, couldn't stand it. Years later after I grew up and moved away, I was literally sitting in my room one day and a light bulb went off and I was like, man what happened to me? I used to LOVE those things. Within the next week I had picked up a few new books, started drawing again, and took a day trip to the beach to swim for the first time in years. It's weird how mental and physical health can drape such a dark veil over your spirit.
Oscar - so few tips as I have quite long experience with them: Male or female - it is usually vey hard or even impossible to tell. Only way how to be absolutely sure is during the breeding season. Tank mates - Pleco (and similar catfish) will be ok, trying any other tank mate(s) is writing a death sentence for those tank mates :D - however plecos eat algae only when young, the older they get the more carnivorous they are How to get him eat - well altough considered omnivores they are pretty much on the carnivore side of it and do not really enjoy vegetarian diet. They absolutely love meat so very good option is to feed him/her with freshly shredded beef, they tend to like also small fish, mealworms, fish meat, snails, earthworms, many kinds of insects. But you should really try meat. From the artificial food there are great granules for them from Hikari - they have stunning coloration when feeding them with those. In addition: Prepare yourself for the fact that they love re-organizing of things in the aquarium, simply moving everything and all the time around (and they can move or demolish almost anything when grown up) and also they love to destroy any plant (altough there are rare exeptions from this rule). You can feed them by hand (when they got used to you) - however it can be little bit painfull sometimes :D BUT they are one of the most amazing and intelligent fish you can get.

If not you already have a library and new people discovering your channel every day. 🧡 I loved your HUGE monstera deliciosa and the ferns in the dart frog (skull/left enclosure) what kind of ferns are those? After getting everything into the room maybe there isnt the space she had hoped. Or maybe her life has been to hectic to plan such a big build. I have two oscars and they will pout forever. I saved my 2 from a Walmart that had no idea what they were doing and the fish were way to large to be in the tank they were in. Originally I only wanted one but he just kept sulking. Until I found a female and tried keeping them together and they just bonded. His appetite increased and now they want nothing but attention and food 😂they love large frozen shrimp that I thaw for them and large earthworms. They seem to also love some meal worms

So glad you're doing better! At the lowest stage in my mental health, I remember losing interest in everything I had once loved doing. I used to read and draw everyday, I used to drive to the lake a few times a week, and all of a sudden I couldn't do any of it anymore, couldn't stand it. Years later after I grew up and moved away, I was literally sitting in my room one day and a light bulb went off and I was like, man what happened to me? I used to LOVE those things. Within the next week I had picked up a few new books, started drawing again, and took a day trip to the beach to swim for the first time in years. It's weird how mental and physical health can drape such a dark veil over your spirit.

Oscar - so few tips as I have quite long experience with them:
Male or female - it is usually vey hard or even impossible to tell. Only way how to be absolutely sure is during the breeding season.
Tank mates - Pleco (and similar catfish) will be ok, trying any other tank mate(s) is writing a death sentence for those tank mates :D - however plecos eat algae only when young, the older they get the more carnivorous they are
How to get him eat - well altough considered omnivores they are pretty much on the carnivore side of it and do not really enjoy vegetarian diet. They absolutely love meat so very good option is to feed him/her with freshly shredded beef, they tend to like also small fish, mealworms, fish meat, snails, earthworms, many kinds of insects. But you should really try meat. From the artificial food there are great granules for them from Hikari - they have stunning coloration when feeding them with those.
In addition: Prepare yourself for the fact that they love re-organizing of things in the aquarium, simply moving everything and all the time around (and they can move or demolish almost anything when grown up) and also they love to destroy any plant (altough there are rare exeptions from this rule). You can feed them by hand (when they got used to you) - however it can be little bit painfull sometimes :D
BUT they are one of the most amazing and intelligent fish you can get.

Your health is first Jenny. Dont worry about this, if people get mad at you then they're very bad people. You can always get new pets if you get better, but theres only one you, please take care.

And you're not alone with the loss of confidence in yourself and feeling cautious just after you've recovered, to start things like breeding fish again, just keep taking your time :) your fans will be happy with one video per month or less as long as you can stay happy doing it... So dont feel any pressure from us guys!

@@ocezam4829 to be fair I wasn't asking assuming custom aquariums wasn't going to follow through. Maybe Jennie changed her plans. After getting everything into the room maybe there isnt the space she had hoped. Or maybe her life has been to hectic to plan such a big build. I was only curious as to whether or not it was still in the plans.

I have two oscars and they will pout forever. I saved my 2 from a Walmart that had no idea what they were doing and the fish were way to large to be in the tank they were in. Originally I only wanted one but he just kept sulking. Until I found a female and tried keeping them together and they just bonded. His appetite increased and now they want nothing but attention and food 😂they love large frozen shrimp that I thaw for them and large earthworms. They seem to also love some meal worms
