I do like the sound - and both settings seem very usable. I did see the switch is hybrid, if you step on it you get a "hold it on" thing which could lead to some fun experimental playing, or a cool stacking boost option.
When this was on the JHS show I made the decision that I would get one. I haven't gotten yet. But this video just reaffirms that I will still get one eventually.
I like how you used two amps to demonstrate it. hopefully it was the same equipment and cables for everything else. Personally like how the Si side sounded more the Ge.
I bought one of these because of this video. At first I didn't know if I liked it or not, but the more I play it, the more I find myself staying on it. And that's with other good overdrives in the chain - OD11, ODR Mini, even a Greer Lightspeed. There's something about it that just sounds good with my rig - dunno what it is, but it's here to stay.
The Pedal sounded very good - Cool idea. Will you be sending It back to Sweetwater? If you do, I have a suggestion. Include a Certificate that the Pedal was Demoed and Reviewed by Phil McKnight. I know I would prefer to purchase a pedal, guitar, or other gear that was reviewed by you, as it comes with a online video that very pedal. Maybe Sweetwater could donate a portion of the purchase price to some worthy cause. Any donation would probably be more than offset by the interest in purchasing the pedal.
Thanks for the demo! When you play hard there seems to be some clipping happening, which sounds to be somewhere in the recording chain rather than the pedal. Still, pedal sounds great.
I just received my Sire L7 in tobacco burst today. Looking it over now for any issues. Hopefully it is great. I had issues with my S7. I'm waiting on your S7 video. Soon?
Great demo of this pedal!! I really was surprised how good it sounded with the solid state amp really made it sound great. Sounds pretty good too with the Deluxe as well. Gonna need to try one out for myself 🤔
That Yamaha amp sounds way better than the fender and I'm a fender guy. Mic seemed same, 57, I'm buying that amp ha, Reminds me of The eh Soul Food, always entertaining, thanks Phillip
sounds great as do many drives both more and less expensive. It's not from a "boutique." How many pedals did Earth Quaker ship last year? It may be wired and soldered by hand in Akron, but not in boutique. "15,000 sq. ft. building it currently occupies. Having found a permanent home for 53+ employees and 40+ Devices,
Was that Vela sporting a tortoiseshell pickguard from the factory or did you add it? I had a black pickguard on my Vela and the only upgrade I've made it to put a (much nicer looking) tortoiseshell guard on it. Also, you keep this up and my drive section will be just Plumes and Crankers. Earthquaker makes amazing $99 pedals.
i dont know about now, but the tort guard was for the Satin finished velas for the first couple years. i have the tobacco burst satin. replaced the tone knob with a knurled tele knob so its easier to grab and i put the SD Pearly Gates HB jn the bridge. its awesome
Hey Phil great content as always, I was wondering if you could help me, recently I got an overdrive pedal (tone city golden plexi) thats makes a high piched noise when dimmed, the noise disapiers when there is a buffered pedal (not true bypass) before it ie: boss rc-3. I was wondering if it the pedal thats off or the sheilding in my guitar? Any suggestions? Thank you for your help! Keep up the good work! (Edit) I uploaded a video for reference th-cam.com/video/WbR_VhsAl5s/w-d-xo.html
I bought this pedal and was amazed how good it was.

One of the best OD pedals this year. Just an incredible value and quality.
Got one of these a couple of months ago to use in front of a Princeton Reverb and Deluxe Reverb. Very happy with the sound. Great review Phil!
These Show-n-Tell vids are the best.
Thanks for letting loose and jamming enough to give us a good feel for this. Of course, you are forcing me to buy this now!!!
Eqd is never a let down
Great video Phil! Excellent playing as always and thanks to Sweetwater for allowing us this opportunity. Have a great one 👊🏽
I just picked up that pedal last week. Love it.
Enjoyed your demo.thank you.
Sounds great and available in the UK for similar money. Thanks Phil.
Thanks Phil, I definitely needed to spend another $100 today! 🤣 Thanks for all of the great content!
Bought it when it came out! Amazing pedal almost distortion like when you fully crank the gain !
When this was on the JHS show I made the decision that I would get one. I haven't gotten yet. But this video just reaffirms that I will still get one eventually.
Nice, sounds pretty good.
Hi Phil, great review. The pedal worked exactly as you explained. Cheers ✌️🎸
Pedal sounds pretty nice, especially for the price. The PRS is pretty sweet too!
I like how you used two amps to demonstrate it. hopefully it was the same equipment and cables for everything else. Personally like how the Si side sounded more the Ge.
I love Earthquaker Devices. I was genuinely surprised to learn it is the brainchild of the guitar player from Harriet the Spy.
Please review that 15 watt tube combo by Stage Right/Harley Benton/ Monoprice. We wanna know what YOU think.
Cool phil, nice seeing you play your theme song.
For 100 bucks I love mine. It's fantastic! Stacks well too.
I thought it was illegal to sell pedals considered " boutique" for less than $250.
that's not the line to draw, but this is not a "boutique pedal". Its seems really good for the price.
@@sailorr4287 It says "boutique pedal" in the title. What does that really even mean anymore anyway?
@@IDGAF_PLUS It seems it means basically just not Boss lol
@@RogerThat902 Right?
@@IDGAF_PLUS it means specialized and smaller production.
I have one and its amazing! and the price is crazy
Phil: plays the theme lick
Us, a bunch o' gear nerds: he did the thing! 😂
Thank you Chris

I feel the same way. I keep stepping on it and using it even though I love my other od pedals. Its the fuzz meets od thing I dig.
Was just playing one at the guitar store while buying my used Strymon Dig and Earthquaker Afterneath. I should have bought the special too...
That pedal sounds great through the Yamaha amp.
Great pedal. I bought one and love it.
Nice demo Phil...for the money it's definitely worth a shot !!!
Phil respects his viewers

Phil, that hairdo is cool as heck. Love your videos bro!
We remember when the video said $99
Sounds killer out of the Yamaha THRII.
That pedal seems like it goes from screamer to straight monster very well!

I love EQD stuff
I'm thinking a Klon style overdrive, like my mxr Sugar Drive ought to go in front so much that I ordered a Special Cranker to find out. Thanks.
That sounds great. 👌

i have the older yamaha thr 10 c and use it more than my fender app. it can just sit next to me by the computer easily.
@@1997Ghost I have mine on my desk as well. Gets used way more than my other amps
Dang, that sounds real good. And here I was thinking I was satisfied with my overdrives :/
I wonder how well this would layer with amp drive or other drive pedals. Seems like a nice texture.
cool beans
Might also like to check out their EarthQuaker Devices Plumes Small Signal Shredder Overdrive Pedal
Wow that is one nice looking gat
What's that melody at 3:00? It's so familiar!
really interesting, would have loved to hear it in a "metal amp" just to see what it can do.
sounds great as do many drives both more and less expensive.

That pedal looks like a very useful tool. Would rather have the Vela by a mile. Perhaps some day.

For $99 why not
Best burgers in America 🍔
I could swear it was $99 just a few hours ago. Damn, that inflation is crazy fast!
Quite like this
Wow the Yamaha sounds better then the DR
It’s not boutique , doesn’t cost $300 and have a 3 year wait list.
Velaaaaaaa!
I wanna be your friend in real life

Thanks for not having your Parker in the camera shot. I just ate. 😂🤣😂🤣 I think I see the head stock, but not the hideous body.
