The pride and determination of these Japanese arts are unsurpassed. Bring this attitude back to the US. Not that it is not here altogether. Remember, these could have just as easily been made in an injection molding machine if wanted. Sadly, that is what has been accepted here.
Magistral. Masterful. I have waited many years for this documentary... I would like to know how they were made in ancient times.
@andyb9378 If this can damage the stones, it means they are already defective. And the process of polishing in a barrel gives a much greater load, it is more like a meaningless adherence to tradition, as usual in Japan.
Why would it be in fahrenheit? The place looks like a greenhouse to me, so 50°C does not look like too much. Anyway, that is a sauna thermimeter. I googled it, and 0 to 120°C scale is not even rare. The same style thermometer what you see in the video has a 50 to 250°F scale.
If the ai overlords are gonna take over, they are gonna eat these as snacks. If the quantum ai overlords beat them, they will want rainbow colored pieces.
Like most “traditional” and “exclusively Japanese” technological processes) I was very surprised that a computer vision sorting apparatus was used here...

Thankyou... I've been waiting ever since you showed the Go boards being made🥰
Switch to mentos 😀

Cách chế tạo quân cờ Gỗ. Được làm thủ công từ vỏ sò và đá thủ công Nhật Bản OK 🇯🇵.
Merci pour la vidéo

They look like mints!
Interesting.
At about 6:40, the English subtitles switch to Japanese.

Awesome!
Why did they need to place a board across the counted go pieces? They were put in a basket anyway lol
So the stones slide gently into the basket, rather than falling in and possibly chipping.

Faster to count the correct amount of stones needed then by hand.
Absolutely fascinating and laborious process, made by true craftsmanship, cheers for the reel PX...
👍👍👍
What does a set cost
WOW
Why does that C thermometer have F markings? @6:08

And each Go Stone costs 1000 dollars because Japan.
That's just the slowneutron upcharge.
interesting process, but impossible in my country as there is no such profession like "stone polisher".
Because this is not the kind of work that in more developed countries will be made into a separate profession?))

repetitive. i know how to make kidney stones, that's about it
