  • In this video I just go over some of the products I like to use when I do an oil change in my Nissan 350Z. The most important thing is to make sure you do the oil change in regular intervals and also you good quality products, like the ones shown in the video.

    Quick trick
    Once you feel the drain plug about to come off, while loosening the last few threads press against the plug and remove quickly and oil flows straight down
    No oil splashes around and drain plug doesn't fall in the pan :)

    Anthony I appreciate your well detailed and thoroughly explained videos pertaining the 350z...I recently acquired a very beat up 2003 350z...we'll call it a "rescue" anyways I'm very ocd like you are and I want to begin the "babying" process on this poor machine...for starters the oil is more black than black history month when I got it and plan on obviously changing it with nice synthetic in its place....my question for you my friend is....seafoam!!! what are your thoughts on this product?....I'm on the verge of dumping a can of it into the fuel tank and then one into the oil crankcase. ...what are the pros and cons towards this? also I noticed in your video that you jacked up the front end of your 350z for the oil change (cleanest undercarriage I've ever seen in my life on any car btw) lifting one side of the car is it safe to assume that you're draining all of the oil in there? is it better to drain the oil when the car is level? thanks in advance!!!

    As a lube tech please don’t sinch down the filter or drain plug. You will only have issues later on. For the drain plug you want it to just be tight not to the point where you can’t turn it anymore just enough to crush down the washer/ o-ring. Check if it needs to be replaced before putting it back on the drain plug. For the oil filter DONT USE A SOCKET AND WRENCH just hand tighten it and again you don’t have to get it so tight you can’t turn it. Just enough to where it is tightened down. This makes it so so so much easier to get it off when you go to change it again or if you go to a shop and get it changed the lube tech won’t hate you😁

      @@namewithheld7835 That is what I do. I don't know about others,
      but when my Z is cold, the oil pressure will go up
      over 100 lbs at as little as 2000 rpm until it warms up.
      I figure a little tighter is better then too loose as long as
      you don't deform things. Oh, that is with the recommended
      10W30 synthetic oil.

    Very nice, I like how you leave the floor jack on the side for extra security and put the jack stands on the unibody frame. However, you really need to put rubber pads or something where the jack stands make contact. I can see even in this video at 1:03 you've dented the frame more than once, it's kinda chewed up. That can lead to rust.

  • @jeremygoodwin8523
    @jeremygoodwin8523 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    FYI when I was a tech a Nissan k&n oil filters on z's was not good for them. A lot of cars would make a whinny noise and It was from the oil filter restricting the oil flow to the motor. So if I was you I would use a fram oil filter.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not too often I'm encouraged to use Fram. I would prefer just stock if not K&N. Could it be because the oil your shop was using didn't flow easily through it? What was the oil pressure reading between filters. Cause I cannot verify this noise.

    • @jeremygoodwin8523
      @jeremygoodwin8523 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      AnthonyJ350 I wouldn't use fram either but we never had complaints about them. And we never did the oil changes that had k&n oil filters people came in complaining about a noise and we told them it's from that filter. Now I'm not saying every z does it cause I tested it and put it on mine and didn't hear anything so idk if it's bc they put the wrong oil in or if they just had a newer z than mine. But I wouldn't put another on just cause of the complaints. And I don't know the oil pressure difference.

    • @MotordyneG35
      @MotordyneG35 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Interesting. K&N main selling point, is their filters allow more flow while still offering superior filtration. More flow than any other filter. I've been using K&N oil filter for 160,000 miles on my VQ and I've even sent in oil samples to blackstone labs. Guess what? They do as advertised.

    • @JohnDoe-gm5qr
      @JohnDoe-gm5qr 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      AnthonyJ350 They are not reusable but the nice thing is you don't have to cut them open if you like to look at the filter media. The other nice thing is there is no hiding cheap media in a can because you can see what you are installing. Mann Hummel also makes the fleece filters that are used on some Mercedes Benzes. That filter turns out to be a close same size to the one for my Jetta but 10 mm shorter. I only know that because I looked at the specs and had thoughts of using that one but I didn't use it. Mann also makes spin on filters for most vehicles too, it is just a matter of finding one. The auto parts store may have one already for some cars because they do sometimes stock the more frequently purchase sizes.

    Does anybody use 10w-30, after 100,000 miles. What should i use?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just use the recommended viscosity. A lot of wear happens at start up so if you use something thicker it may cause wear. Check the owners manual if you can use 10W30 if you live in a hotter climate.

    • @Sonichu_is_watching
      @Sonichu_is_watching 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only if the owners manual says you can use it in hot climates. Otherwise just use high mileage full synthetic oil

      @MichaelSaull 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thicker oil wouldn't increase wear it would probably reduce it technically. However it could interfere with variable valve timing operation because some VCT systems are designed to operate with a very specific viscosity of oil.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It catches all the micro metal filings your motor naturally creates. Google Filtermag and look at their site.
