Funny I just made this last week. Delish. Best to let it sit a few minutes before eating and to stir up the rice. I also pushed the chicken down into rice b4 cooking to absorb flavor. Cut up Chicken in my dish served w broccoli and mixed together. Yum

You accomplish a lot in a short amount of time and that is refreshing. Before you got your whisk, I was just thinking she needs a whisk and sure enough you got out your whisk. And right before you put the aluminum foil on I thought I think I would put aluminum foil over that. And sure enough you put the aluminum foil on. Great minds think alike! 😊

Can this be downsized to fit an 8" or 9" square pan? (I only have 3 people to cook for, so a 9"x13" pan full of this might be overwhelming.) Also, what if I have canned chicken or leftover cooked chicken in the house? Can I use that instead of the boneless skinless chicken?
I would cut all the ingredients in half. If using already cooked chicken, reduce cooking time to about 30 to 40 minutes just to cook rice and heat everything else through.

That isn't how you do that. The recipe calls you to put the mushroom soup and the cheddar cheese and the onion mix untapped the chicken, not on the rice and add the chicken

I used to make this as a newlywed in the 90's. Reserve a little of the soup mix and sprinkle it on the chicken. It's so good!

Many years ago I made a boneless pork chop casserole with rice, 2 cream of mushroom soups, onion soup, and beef broth. It was delicious.

No, regular white rice, uncooked.
I have seen this recipe done with instant rice, but I think in this recipe I like the regular rice. This looks yummy!

I would cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 7-8 hours. Just make sure your chicken and rice are cooked.
