This was wonderful to watch. My dad loved Rickles [as he would call him] and rarely missed a show of his whenever he came to town [Chicago]. He also supported Don with his jazz band opening for him. He was a drummer. Don played too and asked dad for lessons to help sharpen himself up. He also saw Don many times too in Vegas. Him and mom would dress-up, hit the venue and grab a table at the front on the right.
Don always absolutely ripped dad to bits every time. Dad used to say, "You can't get much better than being roasted by the maestro." Dad passed in 2014 aged 90.
I've gone on too long! I'll just add that it was a pleasure to see something so funny and respectful too. Thank you.

Zach did a great job with this interview. His comedic attempts were appreciated because he did not try to go too far with them. When one is in the presence of greatness it is best to bask in it and enjoy the moment than to attempt to prove you are on the same level and fail miserably. There is something so special and self satisfying when you can make your dad laugh. I remember trying to banter at the adult level and my dad seeing me hold my own in front of his friends. It’s a great feeling!! I see it in my own children when their quick whit is on full display. Quick mouth and a sharp tongue is a good view into a sharp quick mind. Or just a good grasp on the English language

When I was a kid I watched Blazing Saddles on HBO with my Father, probably late 70's, he laughed so hard at the "farting scene around the campfire," I thought he was going to die laughing (truly). Never saw him react like that before or since, died in 1998, but I still remember it clearly. A good experience. This interview brought up that memory.

Such a lovely, genuine conversation.. with Don being his classic self.
I first discovered Don via 'Get Smart' ... and further random 'films' and 'TV bits'... and various segments with Don chatting with Bob Newhart, another wonderful classic comedian. For me, Don established his own 'way' from his very earliest days... and if folks don't know his work, they're leaving out a whole 'dialect' of comedic expression.
Many thanks for posting this video.

I was in Manhattan not too long ago to visit some family and I stopped by the Barnes and nobles in upper west side, saw a rickles book, picked it up, went to the register, while buying the book the cashier started just started hitting her favorite rickles bits and we just went over how great the man was for a good 20 minutes. Rickles won’t be forgotten

I'm 27 years old. I discovered Don when I saw the movie "Dennis the Menace Strikes Again". He was a legend. Back in 2013 and 2014, Don was the only thing I watched on TH-cam. I remember getting home after school and binge-watching his appeareances on Johnny Carson and Letterman, etc. I also remember that during 2017 it was clear his health was declining fast. I was very sad. That's why I did not see these videos of him talking with Zach, and Robert De Niro and Scorsese, etc. because I was sad a legend like Don was going to pass away very soon. But after all these years, I was able to watch them because I have found peace in my heart. God bless you Don, fly very high, but not too high.
