Some 25 years ago, someone in my classroom who is normally a very responsible young man, came to class abd told us how his driving exam went. He was saying that he ended with the evil examiner (that everyone called the cow). She was an examiner, but she owned a driving school. Why no one could see the conflict of interest was beyond everyone. She took this guy out for an examination using one of her school's car, and she kept messing around with the instructor side brake. (In Canada, driving school cars have brake pedals on the passenger side.) Our buddy pulled the car over and told the woman to stop fucking around with the brake, or he would leave her stranded on the freeway. She failed him on the spot, so he took the keys out of the ignition, and threw them as far as he could in a cow field. He then walked off home. He later filed a complaint against her and she received a fine.
We have the same set up with the pedals on both sides here in Ireland, but thankfully I haven’t heard any stories of an instructor doing that here
We have that here in Germany too, and while my examiner wasn't my instructor both of them were sadly bad at their jobs. My instructor would grab my steering wheel even if it wasn't necessary and would get angry and scream at me for being nervous (which obviously didn't help) - sadly he was friends with my first examiner, and I eventually had to retake the test because of that...

One I learnt in also had a separate mirror for the instructor in the centre
I've had bad driving tests but man that is appalling
@@LilFoxyCosplay The cow had to go walk in the cow field to try to find her keys. I later found out she had to get towed and her driving school received major fines. I never found out what the fines were for. Given that happened in 1996, she must have retired by now.
@@charliesghost I had to retake the test 4 times. I think, I only got it the last time because I told the examiner I was moving to another province. They wanted to get rid of me. 🤣
I like to imagine that it's all an act. He has a loving wife, well cared for children, a lovely home and his job is to test how well people drive under pressure.

The darker side of FAH's humour, and an excellent example of Foil and Hog living up to their stage names! I'll be honest: my favourite thing about The Driving Instructor Series is the outtakes, and the fact that you can sometimes see even in the sketches how hard the lads are trying not to laugh.
I have to wonder, is Foil playing four different learners here, or does he just have the worst luck! I know Michael introduces himself every time, but I would absolutely buy that Michael doesn't remember one time to the next that he's already met him before.
But he still IS a professional, isn't he?? Pointing out the student's mistakes when needed, always there, always present, even after the bottle of vodka! A legend!
Michael and the Seatbelt is like that one friend you know who struggles with the Crisp Packet.

These are just so so great! My favourite combo - distressed Foil and breakdown Hog. Forgot how quickly the first one escalated! 🤣 One of my favourite sketches of all time! Laugh crying. We really need to see how Michael is doing these days!
At some point, he was persuaded to invest in crypto. It did not end well.

As someone who struggled with driving phobia all throughout driving lessons at age 17 and then moved to the one American city where you don’t need a car, this hit a bit close to home. 😂

A FAH compilation - the perfect way to start a Monday morning!! 🥰. Although as a nervous driver, this is a real trigger for me and to have an instructor like that would be my worst nightmare!
I can just imagine how much fun they had filming this.
While laughing when watching this I also feel the stress for Foil's character very strongly 😆 Thinking back to what I was like when I was taking my driver's license I would never have managed to drive so well though with an instructor like that beside me 😅
One of my favourite series! It probably speaks to what a horrible human I secretly am, since I could happily watch Michael descend into madness for hours 😂

My driving instructor also used our time to get stuff from his girlfriend house, make personal calls all the time and smoked in the car (with the window down, but I got headaches nonetheless) - I'm so glad that part of my life is over😅

I started watching your videos when I was attending driving school, so I have very fond memories of these skits in particular.

Have an idea for you guys - serial killer on the lose and driving inspector fits the description and is acting a bit off. Directs the driver to the woods (where a body was found), has possible blood on shirt, reads paper or phone about the murders; is he or isn't he will we every know.

I got my licence after being taught only by my mum! The main things she didn't teach me were things that have gotten more specific over the years.
@@Sunbeargirl- I'm curious, such as what ? Yeah my dad was good for motorway /highway driving, very patient then as I passed, but very nervous when I first started.
@@tanyacobb9636 Honestly, I can't really remember, but I made enough small mistakes to fail my first test and had to take some online training as a result. She watched the training with me to see what they teach nowadays and learned some new things. The main one I remember her not knowing was the name and function of "sharrows."

As a tip, reach over with your other hand to open the door, that way you automatically face the window while opening the door.
