Kilchoman 11 year old Single Cask - Exclusively Bottled for Türkiye

- This is the first of the Obscure Whisky Wednesdays or OWWs where I post IBs, single casks or very hard to find whiskies separate from my regular schedule of posting on Fridays. This won't happen every Wednesday but it will happen from time to time. Cheers!
I review the Kilchoman 11 year old single cask which is bottled exclusively for Türkiye. This Kilchoman's been matured in a single first fill ex-bourbon cask for 11 years before being bottled at 55.5%abv. It boasts a pppm level of 50 and is non-chill filtered with natural colouring. Enjoy!

Great review my friend! I too love Kilchoman, especially when they bottle at 50% ABV or higher. I haven’t had a chance to pickup a bourbon cask bottling yet but I really enjoy the Fino Cask releases and the 100% Islay releases.

That one sounds great, Sertug, as some other market exclusives around the world....(not to mention, aside from numerous & expensive single casks storepicks for us, not all good, mind you, the "Loch Gruinart" 46 % for France i told my viewers hundred times about). Hearing you I guess the 10+ yo Kilchoman are now starting to show some depth that younger versions maybe didn't have...(I tried only one so far). I'll be curious to try the 16 yo that has a scandalous price (contrarily to the wonderful PC 16 yo I managed to get me in 2020) & their future 18 yo but not sure I'll be able to...Enjoy your second bottle, mate ! Unfortunately Kilchoman is being a bit more generous in pricing themselves above average increasing prices and as much as I'd like to try the 16 year old, I find it a bit disgusting that it's priced so high.

It feels a bit odd that a Muslim country such as Turkiye would have a whisky culture, but then I guess Turkiye is as much a Muslim country as Russia is an Orthodox Christian state. We both lean more towards being secular.
Well Turkiye has always been constitutionally a secular republic, so it's not a Muslim country however much the guy in charge wants it to be. I do understand what you're saying though where the majority of the population belongs to a certain religious group.
Turkey had a whisky distillery since 1963 up until this government came into power and closed it. We have a lot of wine production as well but the government taxes the whole industry in such harsh way that it's near impossible for the producers to market their vineyards and brands outside of the country.
Sorry about getting political, as you can see it is a sore subject for me and a lot of Turks. Cheers my friend
