- Kilchoman distillery, which sits on the Isle of Islay, is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. For over 124 years the Kilchoman distillery was the first to be founded on the Isle of Islay.
Kilchoman distillery, which sits on the Isle of Islay, is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. Considering this, the distillery's range of official bottlings is predictably small, but provides a wide range of taste. The distillery's core expression is 'Machir Bay', which was launched in 2012 to enormous critical acclaim. The bottling won best in class at the IWSC awards. The other instalments in the official range include 100% Islay, Loch Grom, Single Cask, Port Cask Matured, Original Cask Strength, Madeira Cask Matured, and a range of Vintage Bottlings. At present, there have not yet been any independent bottlings from the distillery.

Gotta love Kilchoman. They’re really doing it the right way.

Really enjoyed this vid on the goings-on at Kilchoman which show Mr Wills is passionate about not just his business but also about what consumers want and expect these days. It`s very impressive to see someone taking full control of all aspects of production from field to bottle which not only guarantees quality but also gives the business more scope to invest in it`s future. As a consumer I find `Sanaig` to be excellent particularly at it`s price point and intend to try other expressions in due course. Cheers, Ben.
I love this channel, my whisky passion grows more and more day by day, i live in the Netherlands and is there a way to even find a job in the whisky world?
Outstanding video! Your distillery videos are a great way to tide me over until I can actually get there myself. I love Kilchoman and have a Madeira cask aged one on the shelf right now and it is incredible! I have a Loch Gorm and Islay barley waiting in the wings to enjoy next. I’ve already had bottles of Machir Bay and Sanaig and enjoyed them both with the Sanaig being my favorite of the two. Cheers!
I have loved my trip to Islay Ben.....also been to kilchoman❤
Very nice video 👏. Love Kilchoman ❤
The journey continues. Thanks for the videos Ben and co.
Met the owner once Anthony Wills when I visited with work ,an interesting character and some of the drams are quite nice
Nice one! Must visit Kilchoman next time I'm over. I've only tried the Sanaig but love it
Thanks for the video! My wife and I excited to be visiting Kilchoman on our trip to Scotland next month!
My favorites are The Balvenie single malt peat week Scotch whiskey and Maker's Mark bourbon. But I'm going to have to go out and buy a bottle of Kilchoman and try it now after watching this video.
Enjoy it!
yummmmm a little bird poop flavor! always a plus!
Fantastic video! Thank you very much.
Great Distilery and greater video. THanks
In order for there to be 100% Islay whisky, you also need barrels made from Islay oak.😊
Islay 🥰
Idealized, eh?
I'm a tad confused. Does Wills like bourbon maturation or Sherry?
I think like all of us, we want to love bourbon barrels but there's an attraction to the sherry. We want to experience the whisky as unadulterated as possible, but there's something about a wine influence that begs for innovation.
Machir bay was my first serious single malt, before I even knew I was going on a journey. I was sucked in by the free glasses.
I have a 9 year old single bourbon cask that is beautiful. Looking forward to a 15.
👍
Yeah why noy
