    I love the smaller ones for indoor use to catch people coming and going but for outdoor use, I use a regular system with a DVR. The reason being is that they're always recording so you can catch the motion long before it reaches the camera to trigger the recording.

    Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even th-cam.com/users/postUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.

    The Blink outdoor cameras takes AA Lithium batteries ( longlife) and you can buy different fixtures and brackets to secure the camera to your property now. They are okay for the price, but I have found that they sometimes don't always record when you most need them to. Generally they are pretty good.

    • @ratemygadgets
      @ratemygadgets  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, agree. For me, the price and ease of installation (no wires) sold it. Biggest issue, is that if it picks up NO motion then it doesn't record so cannot (like other hardwired solutions) go back over old recordings. Please do like the video and subscribe as really helps me.

    Question, I was lead to believe you can use your Wi-Fi on your phone to make it work.
    How do you connect the sync module if you use it for a regular vehicle (not one with UBS) or traveling i.e. Hotel or Trade Show Booth type scenario?

    • @ratemygadgets
      @ratemygadgets  ปีที่แล้ว

      Really good point. The Blink outdoor requies the sync module to work. If you want to know more please see here....support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/setting-up-your-outoor-indoor-cameras/setting-up-your-outdoor-indoor-camera this link shows how to setup and point 1 is making sure sync module is connected. Other models may not need it. Hope helps. Please do like the video and subscribe as really helps me.

      Depends. Simple......If you want it to integrate into Amazon's devices such as Echo so can quickly view the camera then absolutely. I use it in this way. Also,it is dead easy with the hub plugged in and USB to set up, schedule etc. However, if you want a serious security system with good quality images, hard wired with 24hour recording look elsewhere. Hope helps. Please do like the video and subscribe as it really helps me.

    Hi RMG - I was thinking of installing the blink cameras on my motorhome for an upcoming trip to France. 2 questions for you - 1 do you think that would work and 2 if we are away from the motorhome, on a walk for example would we need to leave a phone in the rv to provide internet?
    I mostly want it for when I am parked up at night with the blinds drawn to see what's going on outside if we hear any suspicious activity.

    • @ratemygadgets
      @ratemygadgets  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. it would work IF you have power to the sync module constantly. In a motor home, this could be unlikely due to limited plugs or not wanting to drain the battery. It depends what you want. The Blink is great for remote access viewing to see what is happening live. BUT If all you need is for security a camera that detects motion or records on a loop that is inside looking out with a low power usage. I'd recommend a dash cam that records to a SD card.

    Can i record video in external hard drive 24/7 ?

    • @ratemygadgets
      @ratemygadgets  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can plug in a USB drive BUT I have found you can only record when motion is detected. For example, I cannot watch it and request to record on the USB, they only let you record to the Blink subscription service. Workaround is if watching on phone can screen record whilst watching but bit limiting. Hope this helps? Please do subscribe as really helps me.

    • @pizzadave9812

      Add some light....even a 60 lumen solar light will give you a way better picture. And the light is not for you to see better it's so the camera can see better.

    • @ratemygadgets
      @ratemygadgets  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with this. The camera will try to compensate the dark by increasing brightness in the image, however I found a trigger sensitive light greatly improves the picture. Do like and subscribe if you'd be so kind as really helps me.

    Have had 3 of these cameras since december 2022. For the first month, they worked great. I accepted the free trial for the monthly subscription for cloud storage. Once the subscription ran out though, and I opted to not pay for it and use a USB stick for storage, it has been really bad. They dont record anything at night after 10pm. Its like the performance of everything is intentionally dialed down by at least 50% to make customers more inclined to pay the subscription. If I had known this, I never would have bought these. Buyer beware. These cameras actually arent very good at all...

    • @ratemygadgets
      @ratemygadgets  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Sorry for late response. I had EXACTLY same issue that after the trial period, it would not record to USB on the sync module. The battery life didn't get impacted but I also lost connection from my Echo to the Cameras. Solution is, after many attempts, is to reset the sync module with the button on the side. Remove all devices from Blink app. Once done, reconnect all the sync module and cameras. If that doesn't work, then delete the account and reregister with another account BUT don't accept the trial or if you do then quickly unsubscribe. Hope helps. Let me know if you want me to do a video as I resolved all of the issues and the connection between blink, alexa, and my echo

    Very happy there are videos telling the truth about this useless money burning crap.
    Bought these and spend more time looking at nothing. Dark mode is useless.
    People walk right in my yard and the camera did absolutely NOTHING! Other days it takes a 10 second clip when the movement continues.
    Then again other days.. it takes a 18 second clip and there’s NOTHING there!

      My blink is at best.....okay. The issue for me is 1. Subscription being pushed to me for storing video in the cloud...why can't I link to my paid for Amazon cloud location? 2. The low quality.
      The major plus for me is the linking to Alexa Echo for quick looking when working at home by I am sure others do that. Please do like and subscribe as really helps me.

    I’m not one to normally comment , but after recently purchasing this with as a three camera system it’s absolutely awful.
    It picks up events seconds after it’s happened so you end up watching nothing.
    It will only catch events if it’s happening about 3 or 4 feet from the camera if you’re lucky.
    Do not expect this to catch people pulling into your road or onto your driveway etc.
    The battery will not last long if if you have lots of motions as it basically picks up everything that you do not want to see.
    This would only really be good as a back up /glorified door bell camera in my eyes.
    Once again. Do not buy this camera if you are wanting to protect your vehicles, driveway etc
    Personally I would recommend Tapo devices,
    My indoor Tapo cameras which face looking out of the windows are amazing.
    They pick up motions, cars pulling in, people, basically everything from a huge distance away.
    Do not waste your money on the blink system. 👍

    For f....ks sake , its a camera running on batteries , why would you want continuous recording ? Your batteries will be depleted in 3hrs! Lets not forget the workload on the base station and flash drive when its doing write operations on video files.

    Can't believe you missed the #1 downside to this camera. If you live in an area with allot of power outages, the camera does NOT reset itself. So if you are away there is NO WAY to reset it. It becomes a worthless piece of equipment. Most especially don't get it for a 2nd home or if you travel allot.

    Never buy blink, it's complete trash had mine for a year now I hate it, I change out the batteries every 2 weeks, haven't done it in a mo th they ha e all been dead.
    The flood light camera keeps notifying "floodlight connected" the light is a pain to get to even come on and other times it just goes off for bo reason. Another thing is the live feed to checkout the live feed take a good 15 seconds to just pull it up, it goes off and I check to see who it is, the ups guy is gone before I can even get the POS to open. Not happy with it. Use their door ell camera that's it. Invest I. Something more expensive it will drive you nuts more then it will give you security. The privacy zone flat out do not work.
