  • Sony UX-Pros are high-quality Type II cassettes. These were made in the mid-1980's and probably early 90's. In this video, we compare two cassettes from two generations.
As always, thanks to the wonderful vintagecassettes.com for historical info.

I like the bigger window and overall design of the older generation cassette better.

These cassettes have a good design! As for me design of cassete is better for recent UX PRO. But the package for second cassette from 80s is more interesting.

I don't know exactly why it is so mesmerizing to watch the cassette hubs spin in a machine as it records or plays even f forward or rewind draws me in.
It's like watching a vinyl record spin producing a sound from a micro squiggly "V" shaped groove. No groove on a magnetic tape yet still produces an amazing sound quality (of course tapes of that quality absolutely should be recorded on a quality machine and enjoyed for many enjoyable plays afterwards. I grew up listening to many an hour of music on cassette as I'm sure many others watching this video did as well. Great video 😄😃.

I would guess that the newer cassette is from the early to mid 90s. It has for CD on it but no web addresses. They tended to start putting websites on labels from the late 90s
