Fuji DR-Is are great cassettes in my opinion too. I used them in the late eighties and during the nineties. They always gave a good result when used even with average recording equipment, in my experience. I recently managed to get 3 unpacked Fuji DR-I relatively new compact cassettes and plan to open at least one, try to record and give my rating for this relatively newer version of the Fuji DR-I cassette I recently purchased. Cheers! 🍻 📼
Fuji revolutionized the storage of cassettes by REVERSING the casette in the case to make it slimmer. This would allow more to fit in any storage case. NOT ONE OTHER manufacturer followed this design. Granted.. that means all your prerecorded cassettes would not fit in cases designed for slim casettes and vice versa so you'd need two different cases/holders etc. So I'm assuming that's why no one else followed suit. It's a shame because i thought this design was BRILLIANT.
The later Fuji cassette has the main rollers belonging to the Korean firm SKC. Therefore, it is no longer possible to call it a true FUJI cassette. And its frequency characteristics are worse than that of the early cassette. So you did the right thing to buy 10s pack, original FUJI brand cassettes.
Look at the back of the packaging- the later one was made in China, while the older is from Korea. I've seen SKC-made Fuji DRs from 1985, and I have a couple of DRs from about the same time, but made by Saehan, so I don't know what the "True Fuji" is.
I always loved the Fuji brand cassette. Great video also!
Appreciate you stopping by. Thank you!

Beautiful cassettes
All Fuji cassete are very god!
I tried the newer Chinese-made DR-I's, and they were passable if not unremarkable. I have yet to try the Japanese-made ones, though.

10 pack of 12 cassettes ;)
So as I was editing I realized I’d said it wrong. I hoped no one would notice 😉

Not a big fan of this generation of Fuji. I like the sound and construction of the FR models much better.
