the wii has been my goto for real hardware emulation with hdmi / bluetooth support. its also a beast emulating n64, with flawless gba in 240p support on a 4:3 or 16:9 ratio 10/10 i recommend any one in the hobby to pick up a wii
I'm not much of a Wii collector, but took advantage of a Black Friday deal and got the Chuck E. Cheese's Super Collection. That is lowkey valuable worth anywhere between $30 to $50.
As someone who has something like 80 games for the Wii, I'd struggle to name most of them. It was a console with so much garbage clogging the pipes that a lot of people I think dismissed it since it just had so much crap, and the good games it had just weren't anything revolutionary or unique. Most of the worthwhile games just felt like 'old game in the series but better' or just a port of an arcade or obscure title that was only notable because of that reason. Oh, and iirc, Gunbird 2 was actually a Shikigami game originally.
The primary hindrance of the Wii is the graphics. It doesn't look great on modern TVs. if you have an upscaler it sings. Give it 10 more years. The Wii Library will become highly sought after. Get as MANY bangers as you can now while they are still under $20. There are at LEAST 100 good to great games on the Wii. A LOT of them have been remastered for the Switch but the originals WILL hold collector value Just go through by category and you'll see the number is quite high: Platformers - DeBlob, A Shadow's Tale, etc Adventure games - No More Heroes, Manhunt 2, Madworld, etc RPG - Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, The Last Story, etc Shooters - Far Cry Vengeance, Conduit, Red Steel 2, Metroid Prime 3 Racing - Exitebots, Sonic Riders, Need for Speed Nitro, Cruis'n etc Plus all the exclusive to the Wii control scheme games etc. Not to count the mountain of first-party Nintendo titles - Mario Galaxy, Zeldas, Kirby's, Yoshi's, Punch Out etc. Laugh now, cry later in regards to spending. But if you are into playing good games. Get em now.
Konami did remake Castlevania Adventure rebirth on eshop. Sadly this was never ported to any other system. Only way to play it is to mod the Wii and install the game.
Wii is my go-to for party games like Just Dance, Guitar Hero, and of course Mario Party. There are a few co-op shooting games that use the gun peripheral that aren't awful as well.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. A wonderful game. I like Wii games; "The Last Story". "Xenoblade Chronicles", "Shiren the Wanderer", "Escape from Bug Island". No joke on Bug Island, it is a very fun game for anyone that loves Silent Hill games or Resident Evil style games.
The Wii has good games, but it's one of the cheaper systems to collect for a reason. Plenty of families got the Wii and got Wii Sports maybe a Mario game and tons of Just Dance. There are great games on it like Sonic Colors, House of the Dead Overkill, Xenoblade Chronicles, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, Kirby Return to Dreamland, Donkey Kong County Returns and more, but the system is known for being so casual that folks don't really look into it or the value of most of it's games aren't high. Even the high value games compared to other Nintendo systems are way cheaper and I think it will stay that way. I see people who still have Wii's hooked up in their homes so it's not like anyone is rushing out to get one and again the value is low so it's not gonna be hyped up online like other systems. Both the Wii and Wii U stores shut down so I don't see some big price hike coming and aslong as that happens I feel the Wii will always be overlooked. It's good for me though just like the og Xbox or PSP. I swoop in and grab the good stuff no one wants.
2 reasons. 1. The Wii's generation hasn't matured yet. Kids whose first console was the Wii were born in 1998 or later. So, the oldest Wii Kid is around 26 today. They are still 5-7 years away from marriage with kids and discretionary income to get nostalgic for items from their youth. 2. Gamers, aka Collectors, were already mature when the Wii came out and preferred PS4 and Xbox 360 their Nintendo fix was the handheld DS and 3DS. So that's why the 30-40yr olds aren't really scooping it up. It's still 'cheap' for the most part and thus not as desirable to collect for. Until.... group 1 starts buying it in a few years, this group is going to make TH-cam videos in 2029 about "hidden gems that you should buy before they skyrocket'.
@@markasscop YES. Because it’s affordable. But that’s not when nostalgia kicks in though. It will for some. Because of that extra money and nothing to do with it. But in their 20’s and free they are more concerned with the joys of life. Going to parties, traveling to beaches, buying cars, expensive clothes etc. It’s after you settle down and for the most part ‘can’t’ do those things as frequent any more. You have that extra couple hundred a month burning a hole in your pocket. That’s when Nostalgia sets in.
I have a Wii and modded it to play the games I missed out on!!! It’s also used to play my GameCube games since my GameCube died!!!
Silent Hill Shattered Memories is great on the Wii.

I do this on a CRT. To me, it's the best way to emulate older systems.

if anything this is THE prime time for wii kids to look back at wii games, young adults w/ minimal responsibilities so plenty of money to spare
