I have this system on my C-Max, the only problem is it has now failed twice, I was told by Ford main dealer that I had turned it off???? Does anybody know how? and how I can turn it back on, Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to turn it off, so I can leave my key inside the locker hanging out of the window...

Do all ford focus have this feature or just titanium?

this is a useful video. but they guy below is right, nobody is lazy enough not to just take the key out of their pocket and press one button.

Actually, I use it every day on my car. Been using it for 5 years now.

My late father-in-law said much the same about electric windows. As in, why are people too lazy to wind down a window?

@@jacktar50 maybe pressing a button for the window is less distracting??

It’s been 7 years. Do you own a car with this feature yet ? 😂

    • @mmmcfc9332

@@TySteve539 I had already owned a Fiesta ST from new when I commented this. I also did use the feature but only because it was there. I’d happily have paid less to not have the feature. The keyless start is worth paying for yeah but as a bloke I don’t keep my key in a handbag, it’s always in my jacket pocket. You still need a hand free to get in so there was no need for this invention. Ps my keyless entry ST was stolen from me just before I commented hence my frustrated initial comment.

Another pointless feature nobody was asking for. Man in the middle attacks make passive entry systems a liability and already insurance companies are starting to notice.

    • @trollcracker76
      @trollcracker76 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

how would a normal car entry save you from the same attack? The liability you think exists in this model, exists for all models. you need a key regardless anything to open you vehicle. having it keyless or in a button press in the key doesn't change anything at all. Also.. this comes with a keyless start/stop, and I can see pretty good usages on that, specially when you come back from the grocery store with lots of bags to handle

    • @sparcade

The important difference, and weakness, with a buttonless remote is the way it transmits an unlock code with no interaction from the owner. Gangs need only set up a relay, with one person standing next to the car
while the other follows the owner, and they're good to go. The necessary kit is cheap and easily available. An attack like this won't work with a button-based system unless the victim has a habit of continually pressing the unlock button.
Of course, as recent publicity has shown, button-based systems have their own problems if they're badly implemented, but that's a different story.

Yet ford focus is one of the cheapest cars to insure.

I agree that they created a (manageable) liability, so now I have to have a faraday box in the house to keep my keys in (problem solved). That said, it's a great feature. Trying to get your keys out of your jeans pocket when you're approaching your car, laden with bags, or holding stuff, is well worth the inconvenience of popping my keys into a box before I go to bed.

Have more into restoring cars than a new one costs as I want it done right. Much more enjoyment, and loads more durable than the junk that gets sold nowadays
