Hey so I could be wrong but I think it's actually 6%. My hp right now is 709, but equipping it puts me at 751. If the game rounds up decimal values it's just below 6%, but I don't know if it does.

That boss has a good drop, worth going back there later.
You can destroy the chariot, it gives you a powerful bow. + tons of very good items
I am a scientist when it comes to the ulcerated tree spirit spent the first 4 hours of my time with the game grinding that boss.
What you want to do is two hand your weapon and spam its special attack, the confessors thrust is especially good for this but most of them will do. The goal is poise break it so it goes into its riposte animation, once it does you dont want to riposte but instead use 2 heavy attacks back to back on its head. The repost does on average 300dmg while this will do an easy 500. This should be able to carry you to the end, you just need to be careful of its big AOE attack. It makes a hissing audio queue when it does its massive AOE attack, so you need to keep an ear out and when it starts the wind up instead of rolling away sprint in the opposite direction as fast as you can. It might be tempting to jump or roll but that wont work. When it comes to dodging regular attacks it helps to keep in mind that rolling later is better and that you need to keep an eye on its arms, also the left side attacks less often so stand there if you can.
Those 3 things should more or less make the fight doable for you. Aside from the skill aspect of just knowing how to dodge knowing all that should make it easy to get the fight in 5 tries or less.
Assuming it's the one that I'm thinking of, there is a hidden area that you can drop down to that has a great talisman.
Some scary enemies down there though, but at least you can get something without having to beat that boss!

The best is the key 100%, but not for begginers. In the tutorial place before you take the elevator to the open world there is place where you can put they Keys to acces a dungeon. If you beat the boss in that dungeon you get a golden seed + 15k souls, also you can find elden ring version of fap ring

I picked the imps, they're surprisingly pretty good. They have the same mobility as a wolf, can cause bleed and have a fire based ranged attack with slight aoe
Same here, they're actually little powerhouses. I can let them loose on groups on NPCs and they just wipe them out 😂
Bro how do i use them? I took it on astrologer and could use it at start. Also is the imps something i can just get later on in the game ?
@@flute136 talk to a witch in the starting church at night to get a bell, then when you see a boss/gravestone in your corner, you can use the ashes to spawn em

I picked the medallion and warrior my first character, hated that class, so started over and picked the golden seed and wretched. Best decision ever.
The 1% is better than you think. Because it's tied to your base hp, sure at the start it's not great but late game it'll be the deciding factor on killing blows
The stonesword key is probably the best option if you arent going in blind. Being able to access, for example, the iron whetblade, which lets you change the scaling of your weapons to match your build (strength focus, dex focus, or mixed), can be an absolute boon early game, as it is a direct upgrade to your damage with zero downside.
Where can i do that to weapons? I have the whetblade knife thing but i have no idea where to use it

Nah it's golden seed and always will be. Stonesword keys are easy as to get. I think you can buy like 6 throughout limgrave and weeping peninsula.

I think it's fanged imps, if you choose samurai and fanged imps the amount of blood loss you can inflict on Margit is insane for early game.
Best spell early game is the rock sling and getting it is super easy too. Just head down to the marsh at the beginning of the game and get to some ruins. There is some hidden stairs that lead to a chest that teleports you to the island of caelid in a mine. The place is super hard but try to get outside and into a poisonous marsh (if you have the horse the marsh won't poison you). Then head to some ruins to the southwest called street of sages and there is another set of stairs that lead to a chest with the spell. It topples dragons by hitting the head, breaks shields and I got godwing to 2/3 hp before he even did his first attack. Also the mage teacher is at waypoint ruins past a boss east of the starting area across the marsh. As a mage I have been rewarded by exploring every ruin I come across.
I guess I should add there's an additional spell in the mine where you spawn if you head deeper buts it's ass. And there's the dragon shrine up on the mountains outside where you can trade dragon hearts for dragon breath spells, but they're faith+arcane.
It feels good to know I'm finally a seasoned souls player when I can tell the clearly best starting gift right at the start 🙃
fanged imp ashes are pretty busted early on, plus there's enough golden seeds in the world to max your flasks and have some left over at the end
I went with the Imp summon they are crazy OP and very useful against Margit. You get one Imp that is Melee and does crazy Bleed damage and another that is a mage type. Golden Seed is nice but you really don't need it with how many are easily found near the starting zone. I'm also pretty sure there are way more of them in the World than can be used.
Tf just use wolves and get something use ful instead. Margit isn't hard unless wretch no levels

Take the stones word keys you can use them directly at the start where the fog gate is and can get pretty good things. THIS is the best gift.
The imp ashes are also a very solid choice and I'm gonna keep saying it.
Yeah went for the medallion route on a confessor first build got as far as the academy before starting again with an astrologer with a golden seed it was a very good decision
For anyone reading the comments before taking this advice I disagree
Dont take the amber medallion as you can buy it for 1.5k runes
Dont take the seed since as an open world game you can find enough to get to 7 or 8 just by exploring
Dont take the sword keys since at the round table you can but 3 for 4k per and 3 down south for 2k per
You should however take the fanged imp ashes for a powerful summon that Inflicts bleed or souls for a small boost to get ahead

I always choose the flask upgrade, before beating Margit, I usually have 8 +4 total flask uses. Also Level 53 sorcerer when I actually decided to fight him lol grinding runes is ez if you're a decent mage build, I get 20k runes per each 3 min run at my rune grinding run
Stone was pretty nice ngl to have early game I was able to access a 2 key room early on as I found another and it helped
I usually dont use starting gifts in fromsoft games, but i do admit that golden seed is very tempting.

Fanged imp ashes are my favorite, they can pretty much solo some of the first bosses and are a great help on most bosses cause of their bleed, they are also a low FP cost so any class can use them
I’d personally go for stone sword key you can find gold seeds all over the map
It's like a right of passage to choose the health ring on every souls game
I chose the item that gave me more souls. As a mage having to balance leveling up and buying spells isn't cheap in the early game

Golden seeds to give a "permanent increase to your flask" it gives you a "permanent increase of a flask"... Sacred tears increase your flask output
In my first run it was stone sword key, in all my other runs I now just do golden seed as it seems to be more annoying to fully upgrade them

damn this is some sage advice i can’t believe i didn’t know that already
There are golden seeds all over the map, look for golden glowing small trees, the “resting spot” still has the same options for flasks whatever you pick
That will help you really early on if you're inexperienced but I would advise picking something else because you'll get to a point where you'll start finding less and less golden seeds and you'll need to save up four or five of them to upgrade
Exactly what I did for my second character. On day 1 I had no idea what golden seeds were.
I picked the crimson medallion from pure instinct after the health rings being generally the best item in ds1-ds3.
I almost always take the lands between rune for tree levels at start
To be fair you find golden seeds like everywhere compared to estus shards back in DS. Honestly just pick whatever starting item you want, by the time you get to new journey you’ll probably have all 14 flasks anyway
Crimson Amber Medallion 1: Increases HP 6%
Crimson Amber Medallion 2: Increases HP 7%
Crimson Amber Medallion 3: Increases HP 8%
I'm super curious to know where you're getting the only 1% health increase you mention at the start of the video and where the additional 5,6,7% increase is really going when equipped?
Can confirm. Ignore those on the forums saying the keys are just as good. The stonesword keys are easy to find and to buy. I have 8 (including the two i started with) of them and am still not past the first major boss.
Also, many will be too underdeveloped to use said keys anyhow. I'd restart if not 20 hours in. Thats why i will go seed for every future playthrough. Also, faith/int/ and Dex are amazing. Dex > str. Unless you really want the beefy weapons.
I feel like the imps are better as they can cause bleed and throw magic bombs plus they are pretty tanky despite their size and actually help out a lot with early to mid game bosses
Personally its the imp ashes, once you can summon them they do physical damage magic damage and bleed buildup, and so far have been viable on mid to late game areas and bosses
My first play through I chose the boiled prawn cs I thought they would regenerate after u rested at a grace 😅
I almost Always Pick the imp ashes. They slay early with fast attackes and Mobility, can keep Aggro, proc bleed and even Stronger If you have bleed too, decent health fornearly game

Not to mention you find a bunch of other items that would replace the medallion, making it just take up potential bonuses
Or you pick the keys and grab the amazing hidden talisman from the dungeon in the beginning. (More health stam and equip load)

The wretch is a class that can be a under rated class. This class is a powerful class to start with if you know what to do. In the first area keep kill the guards to get there armor and two of there swords. Equip the swords in both hands for a powerful attack combo. The armor should help till you find better. Here some early healing upgrade strat
I will explain roughly because it will be too long
+1 flask at the beginning is alot better than easy to get stone keys so take the seed
For starter just get first key+ seed at jelly fish girl shack and then head right to weeping peninsula and get another seed on the road to castle and 3 sacred tears + remaining keys at the merchant in the shack then get the best early talisman Radagon's Scarseal then warp to beginning areas then unlocked the gate and boom! easy boss clapped
Here you have total of 7 flask with plus 3 healing upgrade and best early talisman that give +3 to stats (vig/end/str/dex)
Stonesword keys are better options, you'll find a surplus of golden seeds

I usually go for the Mystery Key myself
I'm glad I DIDNT pick the seed as far as I know you can only get a total of 14 flasks and I capped it without even starting NG+ just capped the tear upgrades too after NG+ I chose the imps they're really good early game summons but you can also get them later I think 🤔
i always go w stonesword keys. u can get plenty of seeds easily within the first half hr.

I went Wretched with no starting item. Killing your way to get your first piece of armor, your first weapon, and then just going from there is so fun. God I'm addicted to this game brun
Get the rune, you can get seeds super easy but early levels for free are always welcome
Personally I think the best keepsake is the keys because if you were thorough in your exploration at the end of the game you will have 7 or 8 seeds left over with a maxed out flask
I was gonna pick none since I wouldn’t really use any of the others, but I heard you couldn’t get the lands between rune anywhere else in the game and collectors anxiety kicked in lol

If you're going for 100%, I guess don't, because I don't think Miyazaki put one seed less in the game for the people who took that, and after some time you need more than 1, so basically it gives you one more at the start of the game, but getting 6 flasks b4 the 1st boss is quite easy
The medaillon can be bought in Limgrave, so within the 20min, if you know where to go
So in the end it's the imp keys or souls you should go for

Runes are better, you can buy a better weapon or upgrade your vigor right away. Way more useful then an extra flask would be and you can get one of those in the first few minutes of the game too.
Actually I say it's the ash summon because once you get the bell you get on of the best starting summons

There is no essential starting item. Though many of the consumables would be a waste. The two best are the stonesword key, then the golden seed. But you will find more than enough in your journey anyway, its just a headstart.
When I originally started playing I didn’t know runes were currency so I got the gift that gives runes thinking it was some magic item

The Crimson Amber Medallion gives 6 percent heath. Not sure how you messed that up so badly. It's a pretty useful item for high Vigor builds
Im sorry but by the time you beat the game, you have WAY more golden seeds then needed for max flasks, no joke I had 8 left over by the game.
Its better to get the StoneSword key, as theyre limited, and you will always be low on them. I personally recommend skipping the heros grave at the beginning, I tackle it right after godrick.(you'll be overlevelled for it but thats where ut us for me) You also get a golden seed at the end when you beat the boss, along with one of if not the best seal in the game. Lastly you get a taisman, boosting equip load, health, and stamina. Stonesword keys are one use items, and you can never have to many of them
