    The transfers out of the program are a net positive when you consider the near perfect score for transfers in and the perfect score for the high school recruiting class. As for the returnees, the prospects of Proctor’s play improving is larger than that of any player in that 1) he’s overdue; 2) he’s the age of a true sophomore; and 3) he still has all the measurables and defensive acumen. The roster couldn’t be better. I see a Houston-caliber defense and a free flowing offense. Not a single player is shorter than 6-5. This team is scary.

      Losing Blake's does hurt. He's a veteran player with a lot of game experience. He might not have been a great offensive weapon but he was a stud on the defensive end and was easily the best defender on the team the last few seasons. If you watched the games then you saw how hard he played, he gave everything he had every second he was on the floor and it was easy to see when Blake's made a big play on defense just how much it fired up his teammates. We all know what Blake's was and wasn't but I definitely think he was much more to the team then some fans think. Defense gets overlooked but having a lockdown defender is something that definitely shouldn't. Blake's made some huge plays for Duke over his career, most on defense but he even had some big moments on offense as well. Look I'm not saying losing Blake's was devastating to the team or anything like that but I definitely think that having him on this team would have definitely helped. Blake's definitely deserves more respect than he's been given. I will definitely be watching him and pulling for him at Stanford next season but of course not when they play Duke

      @@thebrotherhood6391 Blakes wouldn’t even be a top 6 defender on this years squad. And he would be the 3rd best defensive guard, sure he could have had a leadership role off the bench but he was a junior last year and still has freshman moments, it also doesn’t help that he can’t shoot, and isn’t the best ball handler.

    • @thebrotherhood6391
      @thebrotherhood6391 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @jacks1598 I think you might have forgotten just how good Kennard was, he was much more than a 3 point shooter, Kennard also had good handles and could get to the basket as well as being a very good defender. Knueppel looks very good and of course I hope he plays as well as he possibly can for Duke but I don't see where he is so much better than Kennard as you say. Kennard finished 2nd to Grayson Allen this year in the nba in 3 point shooting and Kennard has been very consistent his entire career. Anyways I politely disagree with the assessment of Knueppel being much better than Kennard. I have high hopes for Knueppel and the entire Duke squad but I think Knueppel will have trouble staying on the floor because of his lack of defensive skills and he honestly pretty slow. I think Darren Harris is gonna play a huge role on this team and takes over the "kennard" or most recently "McCain" spot on the team. Harris has very good size at 6'6"(half the team is listed at 6'6" lol) he has a solid strong muscular frame, a very good 3 point shooter but also a very good pull up shooter and can get to the basket plus he's a very good defender. I know with all the other incoming talented freshman along with some talented incoming transfers plus returning starters Proctor & Foster that minutes will be hard to come by for some players but I really think Harris is gonna carve out a big roll and be a huge part of Dukes success next season, the kid is a walking bucket & plays defense just as hard. I can't wait for next season to start, very excited for this team, so much talent and if they can play together they're gonna be special.

    If they think Sion James is that good (and I agree with them), then why do they think that Proctor and Foster will start every game? Brown was first-team All-ACC Defensive player...and these guys are "skeptical" about their defense? Duke is 11 deep with absolute studs. These guys are a couple of clowns.

    • @rileydavis8672

      All-Defensive teams aren't always an indicator of an elite defender. A lot of voters just look at blocks and steals. Syracuse was 85th in the country in defensive efficiency. They were 305th in defensive 2-point field goal percentage. Now, not all that is Maliq Brown's fault, but he was the 5-man, and you want your 5 to control the paint. I get he had a bunch of blocks; I get he had a bunch of steals. But I think that's partly because of Cuse's pressure-heavy scheme. He's a good player, but he's only been a small-ball 5 at this point in his career, and I don't know what he'll look like playing the 4.

      @@rileydavis8672if the main question about his defense is getting “bodied” by bigger centers then why would you questions about him playing he 4?? He’s has great lateral quickness, defensive instincts, and athleticism.

      I think Brown is a very solid player. Scores at a high percentage, solid shot blocker and overall defender, also rebounds decent. I see Brown being a very good contributer to the team. Honestly with Flagg, Maulach, Evans and a now fully healthy Patrick Ngongba just how much will Brown get to contribute becomes the question to me. I honestly expect Brown to play more earlier and his minutes fall as the season goes on and the freshman get more acclimated to the college game. No matter what I think Brown is a great addition to the team and will be an important part of it.

      I'm super excited about Flagg and I definitely hope he wins but to say there's no other superstars in the sport is absurd to me. There are plenty of other "superstar" caliber players across college basketball, maybe even on his own team or even a freshman on the hated rival down the street. There is some very talented incoming freshman along with returning players. With so many players switching teams who knows what player might land in the perfect place and show they're a "superstar". Definitely some freshman in this class with superstar abilities

      C’mon, nobody’s crying over Schutt, Reeves, or Blakes. And Mitchell can’t shoot and Roach can’t defend, and TJ Power can’t even get l on the coach because his defense is so invisible. Sean Stewart’s departure hurt, but Maliq Brown has a higher floor. He was All-ACC Defensive First team and shot 70% from the field.
