No one can do it better than Mariah because they didn't come up with the vocal runs in the first place and they can't do them with that amazing pitch and precision. I was thinking about that too. Most of singers after doing (inventing) runs, they end up doing the same run in other times in other songs (like their creativity are limited), Mariah rarely sings a really similar run (except for in the same song). Like she already created 'thousands and thousands' of vocal runs and 99% of them sound different from each other yet very creative and beautiful. She's incredible!

Lol. I was attempting some Mariah runs from Whenever You Call some days ago without listening to the track, and I felt like "I think I did it", but when I compared to her version... I don't even need to say xD, they were so messy when compared and not as precise as her runs at all, most of her runs are really really hard, even the more basic ones. Mariah is a killer.

taylorxboyx No, those are unhealthy techniques unless they occurre naturally, you have to have plenty of control over your voice, and what most people do is lift their soft palate and place their voice in the mask and or head, hard to explain but there is plenty of tutorials explaining how to
Ben Is Quite Random It didn't feel natural so i assume it is not healthy to continue doing the tongue thing lol. I'll have to check out where the soft palate is and then look for tutorials because i know nothing about singing ..XD

Vibrato is oscillation on a specific note like F5 for example while a Vocal run is basically running up or down the scale on a single phrase basically
