    As a collector of many things, my heart goes out to that poor woman who lost her teapot collection. I hope the idiots that caused it to be destroyed spent hours and tons of money scouring ebay to replace them for her, but I doubt that happened.

    • @jeffdroog
      @jeffdroog ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly,that was the funniest part of it all for me.Someone who is literally that dumb,and so far uo their own asshole to think owning 6000 pounds worth of fragile teapots is a worthwhile,and lifelong investment,honestly deserved to have life slap them in the face as elegantly as this was done.Would have paid extra to see them smashed individually,and literally in front of the owner lol It's literally wasteful thinking such as hers that leads the entire world down its path of wasteful destruction.

      Just seeing her trying to hold it together breaks my heart. I don't think those hosts realize that collecting is not just a hobby, it's a part of someone and who they are. And if it brings them back memories, it just adds to it.

    • @sallyhamilton7202
      @sallyhamilton7202 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +31

      @@not.supermario Exactly! My collection, (I have a few) isn't just "things". It's "Oh here's the glass dog my niece gave me for Christmas. And here's the ceramic one from Brazil she got me for my birthday a couple of years ago". "Here's the one my brother gave me". "Here's the one I got on Ebay that I really really wanted and never thought I would win on such a low bid" and with every memory comes the emotion you experienced when you received (or won) that specific piece. And GOD FORBID any of those were family heirlooms because even if they are "replaced" they are not the same ones mom or dad or grandma held and used.

    The whole idea of allowing "professionals" free rein to renovate and/or redecorate your home - at your expense - is terribly flawed. I would insist on approving the process at every step, and I suspect that most people would feel the same. Especially if they're paying the bill.

Those poor people who's homes they have destroyed and that poor lady with the no longer teapots, what possessed the show to add books onto something that was held up with what looked like fishing line. The wood alone would have been too heavy. Use chains you daft lot and anchor them well in the attic. I could have cried for all these people as they now have one heck of a job putting their rooms back to how they had them. If someone says please leave the fireplace as is, damned well leave it where it is. It makes me sick to see these people so unhappy. I personally have a rule in my life called, “Don’t do the obviously bad thing.” This generally applies to placing items in precarious places where they will inevitably be damaged because I “hope” it will be ok, but the rule has many applications. It certainly would have come up with a precious collection of delicate irreplaceable teapots hurriedly placed on an untested hanging open shelf. That poor woman trusted them. 10:30 Handy Andy told them not to put heavy books on the bottom shelf, they ignored him. I watched this episode and cried for the tea-pot lady and her friend. This programme never really listened to the friends/neighbours because all they wanted to do was promote the latest stupid decorating fad, in this case free hanging shelves. I wouldn't have them over my threshhold, that's for sure.

    I remember seeing the tea pot scandal show. I have to say as lovely in every way possible a woman can be, Linda Barker is, I would have gone ballistic if my whatever collection had been destroyed. No truthfully she could get away with anything with me.

    My mom and I loved Trading Spaces in the US at the start but once designers seemed to purposefully do what owners didn’t want for the ratings, we quit watching-#2 Pam, I actually really like the finished room but our fireplace is a space we wouldn’t want touched either so I can empathize. My husband built our fireplace when he was 16/17 (we bought home from his dad years later) and his two rules in home design are don’t touch the fireplace and don’t paint the wood, otherwise I have complete control.

    Most Finnish shows like these ones are horribly bland. It's all about white with a hint of grey and lots of "modern, clean" elements. I hate that kind of safe approach for styling. At least these ones did something else, even when they failed miserably. The brown room was just absolutely horrible, poor Pam.

    The thing is, that was actually one of the best rooms Doug had ever done! He usually left the homeowners with these vulgar, garish designs just to be a controversial ass hat, but that brown room was probably the most tasteful, sophisticated room he ever produced for anyone and that woman BAWLED! 😂😂
    I always wonder why people like that even go on those shows! I mean, you can't go on a show about surprise makeovers and be like "but absolutely do not change a thing about this, that and the other or I'll be DEVASTATED". Like, go on Wife Swap then!
