You invest so much time, money and all of your skills to restore our rolling heritage. And my neighbor in Sweden has a '56 oval window and a '60s T1 double cab transporter rotting away behind his house since over 30 years and will not sell it to anyone. Some people don't know what these cars mean to people like you and me.
Thank you very much J!! The ride in the 54, a tour of Larry’s awesome collection and a very cool story about Larry’s Grandfather and him being able to one of his old trucks. I laughed out loud when he took that shot that his 15 wasn’t found with a stream running through it 🤣 Thanks again J!
Very impressive skills! I see there is a dress code and haircut requirement to perform in Larry's shop. The only place this vehicle will be happy is Volkswagen's corporate HQ! Thanks for another great video!
Visit to Larry's is such a treat. Driving the '54 Oval must have been great. The amount of knowledge Larry's has must be amazing. Great show as always, thank you
I found this to be a very depressing video. It reminds me of how much sanding I have ahead of me on my own project 😥. l always enjoy your video's with Larry. Thanks for another great video!!!!
Thank you very much Jay.I really enjoyed Larry's stories and the history. What great find to be able to get his grandfather's truck. I am so old that I remember seeing those white trucks on the road as daily drivers. The VW you drove is actually a year older than me lol....Really enjoyed this video.
I grew up in the auto body shop, and helped my Dad restore national award winners. So I am well versed on what he is saying. I remember sanding the skin off my fingertips as a kid. Fun days!
I love the old one you drove, such a beauty! I've driven so many old ones, had to drive fast in hope to make it up the hills at Fort Devens area off route 2. I was in the Army 76-82 and also worked all over. Larry does impeccable work.
Awesome video! I have to double clutch my 29' Ford, twice the fun to drive! Larry did a fabulous job on the black convertible!! Well done, one piece at a time, on the road to perfection!! Thanks for sharing behind the scenes restoration!!
Dear 5150mxVW Jay. 👍👌👏 Almost unbelievably meticulous work. Extremely fascinating guy with extremely fascinating vehicles and stories! I'm always ashamed to see what disciplined humans are able to do. Unfortunately I'm more the procrastination type. In fact I may be even the king of procrastination, sigh. 🙈😳 Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to both of you.
Every time I see his workmanship I'm in awe. It was definitely cool to see his collection. Thanks for that! Great video once again. It was good to see a video of you having more fun than work.
Wow, Larry is the man! He's done some beautiful work on that 59, the body looks like new. I had a 54 just like that, Strato Silver with red interior, it's a kind of odd combo but cool. I've had 3 Strato Silver cars, it's such a great color, I think one of VW's nicest. I liked it so much I tracked down an NOS quart of Strato Silver L227 paint, still have it! I actually recently found a 56, it needs everything, but after cleaning up the crud, guess what color it is? Yup, Strato Silver. Again. That 54 sure sounds fantastic, Larry is my hero.
Further to double-clutching, the red marks on the speedometer are where you can shift without using the clutch! Worked great on my white '56 and red '57!! Great show, loved the engine sound.
I saw this thumb nail yesterday but I didn't realise it was 5150mxVW, that is what happens when you get old! I always love your lessons with Larry he is a great guy and very knowledgeable. The block sanding can be labour intensive but it is so worth it to see the results at the end. It was strange when Larry mentioned the 'Knee bone...' song I was thinking about that in your last video on the single cab when you said everything is connected. It is hard to know when to stop with something like that and Larry is a perfectionist so I understand the dilemma you both have when doing that sort of restoration Jason. Thanks for the interesting video Jason, great stuff. 👍👍
Larry might be interested to know about our Macomb, Illinois Thermos factory since he has so many bottles. A few of them are more than likely from here.
All of you VW gearheads, get your kids and grandkids involved and teach them how easy it is to turn these machines into something they can be proud of. Once they get the hang of it, show them how to put a Porsche motor in a bug. Same four bolts, wiring, fuel line, and throttle cable. Nothing like seeing your progeny develope self confidence.
Thanks for sharing this. I am just about to this stage of sanding on my daughters 63. I am wondering what he uses for seam sealer? I see that the inside of the car has all the seams sealed up

This is a man that must have 36 hours in a day while we mortals only have 18 waking hours.
This guy is an artist.... beautiful work...

It is always a pleasure to visit with Larry in his shop. Thank you!
Wow! Thanks for the ride in the beautiful old '54. That's the condition I prefer! 'To the minimum then drive it!'
Larry is an excellent craftsman, a true artist! Seeing guys with this much talent is both humbling and inspiring.
Very impressive skills! I see there is a dress code and haircut requirement to perform in Larry's shop. The only place this vehicle will be happy is Volkswagen's corporate HQ! Thanks for another great video!
What a great mentor! Glad you guys found each other.
Visit to Larry's is such a treat. Driving the '54 Oval must have been great. The amount of knowledge Larry's has must be amazing. Great show as always, thank you
To be a fly on Larry's wall...
...you may never learn it all!
I found this to be a very depressing video. It reminds me of how much sanding I have ahead of me on my own project 😥. l always enjoy your video's with Larry. Thanks for another great video!!!!

So jelly of you getting to drive the 54. Wished I had kept at least one of my VW”s from my college days in the 70”s. Thanks for the flashback. ☮

larry is very talented,
His attention to detail is amazing.
That oval is sweet. At least you drive better than you sand 😂
Very cool Jason you got to block sand and drive the 1954 oval cudos to Larry what a great guy best regards Andy Allen.

Further to double-clutching, the red marks on the speedometer are where you can shift without using the clutch! Worked great on my white '56 and red '57!! Great show, loved the engine sound.
Nice to see the progress ….. and this is why bodywork is sooo expensive.
Your friend Larry is not only good, but also an ARTIST~
Always like the visits with Larry, and this was a great video.
A couple of burns there from Larry, about the buses in the stream and your block sanding skills.😂
Just finished watching Mustie1’s Sunday video and saw your video show up and had to watch.

My kind modeling 😉 great job 👍
Beautiful work.....Nice collections
By 1955, VW had made 1 million Beetles. And it's still hard to find a good one from that era. Man, I wish!

We have some of our semi trailers with Wheels of Time on them.
Hello from Wisconsin! 👍🏻
Hello Harold , thank you for dropping in
I enjoy Larry!
My Mom said she only watches the Larry videos ! 🤣
You're pretty good with the squirt bottle 😅
After watching that segment during the edit I said “ I’ve found my calling , “ water boy “ 🤣👍
That looks like a Borgward Isabella's cigar lighter on the dash of that '54.

Always is :))
Awesome video! Great collection! Greetings from Finland! So the new panels were from Virtanen in Finland?
Wow Larry is great, wish I could weld you guys make it look so easy! Trying to find someone to do my body work ‘60 Beetle.
Yes he is and I’m with you on the welding , you can do it ….just takes the correct settings, clean metal and a good clean ground . Practice :))
Wow what a great set up he has. When you were going down the driveway there were some vws what's the story with those ?
Very cool!
We thank you
Newer semi trucks, we just float the gears. Only clutch to start off. If it was a diesel in the bug, you could float the gears.
nice job.
A good friend to know.
