Olympics 1984 was such a disappointment for us, Julius Korir really boosted our esteem when he won the Steeplechase gold. Then again, winning the Steeplechase was a tradition of sorts, but he served to cement it and we have never looked back. May God continue to bless Julius Korir and all the other athletes whose efforts turned Kenya into a household name.
Kenya has always won the 3000M steeplechase gold medal since 1968 in both the world championships and the Olympics. At times they do a clean sweep. But mostly they win 2 medals. The exception was when they boycotted the Olympics.Steeplechase is mostly a strength race.
Julius Korir shows a glimpse of the Kenyan dominance just around the corner and Henry Marsh - his own worst enemy - blows another chance with his usual barmy tactics. I was a fan of Colin Reitz but he didn't quite live up to his promise and seemed to lack a bit of confidence here. Great run from little Mahmoud. I liked Roger Hackney too - a true amateur with the right Olympian spirit. What athletics should be all about.
Literally ran the guts out of a very talented Henry marsh,,,,bless him,,,,, poor guy did everything but every one peaked for this OLYMPICS FINAL!!!!!!!!!
@@jmsmith363 He must have been to even get to the Olympics. But he had a pretty bad technique of saying in the back for too long and wasting energy. It always hurt him in the last 200m.
Great coverage. No commercial breaks like they do now
Marsh was a great runner, but why so little attention in the video to Diemer? My God, a PB and Olympic medal. Cheers, Brian.

Korir was shot out of a cannon in the last 150m. Kariuki went on to win the next edition in 1988
That guy from the stands....hahaha. So funny....comic relief in a tense race.
don't forget the security guy who could easily have won the race chasing that lunatic!
Guy from the stands. Lew Phelan
Don’t they love themselves…!!😂
