I think in this case it's more likely that it's on purpose, I've scrolled through the feed and there are actually multiple instances of them creating Ocs similar to the ones already made by a different gachatuber. Though I agree not all cases are on purpose :)

Its not really a big deal but people shouldn't take heavy inspiration or copy if the original creator said not to most the time people put a lot of work into ocs or art so it's upsetting when people take inspiration or copy when they said not to
people, copying/plagiarism an oc can be compared to a name. e.g. eventually, an idea will be repeated. remember, there's 8 billion people living on this planet. If everyone had their very own name. nobody else had it, then eventually people will NEED to use a name that's been used. Gacha Club has lack of resources for every single creator to have a unique and very different OC.
For this situation, if you wanted to recreate that OC, you MUST ask the original creator if it is okay to recreate it, and if you can’t ask the owner, give him/her credit from the inspiration.
Really good video, remember that OC means original character. If you plargerise something then it's not an OC. Things can happen by a mistake but if that does happen then you mention the mistake and speak to the original artist to apologise. An example of this happening is with the original Ink Sans design by the creator of Inktale, they didn't notice they copied a design completely after looking at someone's OC before drawing but made a post about it and redesigned the character when they realised.
ok but im pretty sure the wooly one is definitely just coinwincidience and not intentional. unless im wrong you can correct me but it just seems like two people had the same ideas for a wooly reimagining or redesign. its just like people who design sonic oc's. not every one of them is original and can look simular to an existing sonic character/oc. with the wooly example, there are differences such as the black shoe's the type of white shirt, and even the black spot on woolys face. and the fact that the gacha wooly has no knife and has a tie and no dog collar. while yes they do have a bandage on there face i can definitely see this as coinwinicidental and not intentional copying. and i don't think they should give credit as i can see that it is a simular take on wooly and not exactly copying.
These kinds of drama makes me want to make more ocs that looks super similar to other people's ocs that I think looks so dope not posted on the internet lolz, I even have an oc rotting in my oc slots that looks so similar to Devil Bona's, yet I don't show it to anyone
If you want to use someone redesign of a character you should ask them for permission & if they did give you permission, give them credit for the redesign when you used it
When I first started gachatubing, I made a similar mistake. I would copy Shadows Glitch’s crying child design (the old one). It looked similar, but did not fully resemble the whole OC (I was inspired by her at the time) Now, I actually make original designs. I know how it hard it is to get creative, so it’s tempting to get inspired by someone else and use their ideas. Which is fine, but copying the full OC. People got so annoyed at me for using similar details that shadows glitch used, comparing my design to hers. I will say that the main similarities you can draw from the 2 shark ocs is - Hoodie/sweater(for the one on the left it's more a hoodie) - somewhat the same pattern of a star on the front of the hoodie - hair color(somewhat) - pale skin - shark - eye shape - ahoge However that's where the similarities end really- I was gonna type another thing here, but i forgot what I was gonna say-

On one hand, we have no idea what the actual sources of these mini movies are (although it is my speculation that Celebrity in Disguise came from the mini movie about the pop star girl who cries blood), but on the other hand, while some say that their hated child video was inspired by another copy of the hated child, nobody is crediting the original creator of the story (because like I said, not a lot of people know the original creators of these famous mini movies). But then again, those mini movies could become works from the public domain, but usually a work becomes public domain if it has been around for probably more than 50 years.

over 2 years ago I stole someone’s fnaf OC’s in gacha life i did it because I was jealous of their style and creativity and I really loved their OC’s I only changed a few things in the OC’s but I really regret it and after not long after I changed the OC’s again because I felt so guilty about it since I wouldn’t like it if someone copied my OC’s.
This video reminds me of how I had to change aspects of one of my OCs designs because I thought ppl would get mad at me because he looks like a Music Freaks character- Flo, you did a great job of describing what is and isn’t plagiarism. The gacha community has a habit of calling an OC “stolen” even when the only similarities are a hair color or an aesthetic choice.
Lol the same happened with one of my friends when I made my newest OC (the one in my profile picture) they said it looked like Mika Rou's OC, not the bunny one, but the one that is pink and black. (if you know what I'm talking about hopefully) She said I copied it even though there are so many differences throughout the OC. I didn't even know of the pink and black girl on Mika's channel because I don't watch her that much LOL. (it was probably the style of the hair and accessories tbh)
Few people say tracing art is a good method to improve art skills like learning the correct technique, as long as there is a mention it was trace & credit the original artist
To be frank, nothing is really original anymore. Moat stories flow similar beats and tropes, we just aren't aware because the "packaging" is different.
This is one of the reasons I always make my oc simple and in my own style- Cuz I have seen too many cases with this same topic and I dint wanna be apart of them- As a fellow artist I always take inspo from diffrent art style Aswell and make them unique! But ofc there will be that one person to say "oh your copying" so I'm glad this topic was put up to educate those people
I actually did experience this after updating my OC (mainly his skin tone that was inspired by Cyno) The OC I got accused of plagiarized is one of my OCs who had a white and purple aesthetic, They told me to kindly change it but doing so wouldn't make my own story plot line connected to what I've already made for the past year. I asked them to show their own OC and it didn't look as close to my own and there was nothing similar between them. It's only the hair and skin along with purple eyes, We even got inspired from different games and we just happen to have the same idea with our OCs (Mine's cuphead inspired while theirs is Undertale.) Their sister did sort it out because I did not know this person at all and they accused me of copying their OC. Some of these are vents, but others literally show crimes and an edit of their character, wich looks like they're normalizing crimes, maybe not intetionally, but they are. Not only the Gacha community, even other communities. I saw recently a 10 year old copycat that copies a person's videos multiple times since late 2022 to now. She's like copying 80% of the whole video but the rest 20% was abit of her own plot with her own Rip-off ocs from the original. They only recolor and making it to the kids artslyle. Every desc of her vids, she does credited the inspiration of her, and wrote: Heavily inspired by @(___). While the person she credited wrote the note in every desc of her vids: Do not get heavily inspired by my AMs/Stories. She doesn't know that the person made it with alot of effort. One of their recent videos was 9 minutes and they took 11 days to modify it. While that kid just took their vid and made it a 1 minute video the 80% of the same plot. Ok idk why did I wrote this as and ex but its a real thing because not only gacha has that prob.
Plus, OC plagiarism is usually with young kids or trolls. And it’s no excuse to threaten people. There are worse things people have done, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Im going to tell you a story what happened when 2023 started. My friend saw my art that is more beautiful than her. She said she wanted a tutor of the body pose. I taught her the body pose and next next next next days, she kept asking me "can you give me tutor how to draw that body pose/base?" I was really annoyed right now since im not either a teacher of art class like we already have one. Later in the breaktime, she asked me to draw the body pose/base instead of a tutor. I drawed her the body pose and write the watermark thing somewhere. Then, she cut my watermark and cute the other pieces. I asked her "wheres my watermark?" And she replied "oh sorry! I didnt know there was your watermark. I will write it later" She couldve have cutted the ones that looks broken then doing a square cut. In the breaktime, she forgot to write my watermark and i decided to write it. She asked me for the tipx and i gave her the thing. She return it to me and keeps drawing. I though she was doing the eye shading. Later at the breaktime (again) i saw my watermark has been erased with the tipx. I asked my friend "why did you erased my watermark?" And she ignored me. I asked her so many times and she said "shut up!" (I think?). I replied her the same thing she said and we both cried. The teacher found us crying and asked us to go to our teacher. We explained everything but i tried explaining it in my language (Indonesia) but instead, the teacher trust my friend. My teacher told me to forgive her and i said "no". My friends is patting me after school. I'll never accept her to do tutor/draw a base for her again. This isn't regular art where, yes, similarities in oc design are inevitable, but this is a game with LIMITED OPTIONS. Somewhere, someplace, someone has a character that looks almost identical to yours, and It wasn't intentional.

over 2 years ago I stole someone’s fnaf OC’s in gacha life i did it because I was jealous of their style and creativity and I really loved their OC’s I only changed a few things in the OC’s but I really regret it and after not long after I changed the OC’s again because I felt so guilty about it since I wouldn’t like it if someone copied my OC’s.
This video reminds me of how I had to change aspects of one of my OCs designs because I thought ppl would get mad at me because he looks like a Music Freaks character-
Flo, you did a great job of describing what is and isn’t plagiarism. The gacha community has a habit of calling an OC “stolen” even when the only similarities are a hair color or an aesthetic choice.
Lol the same happened with one of my friends when I made my newest OC (the one in my profile picture) they said it looked like Mika Rou's OC, not the bunny one, but the one that is pink and black. (if you know what I'm talking about hopefully) She said I copied it even though there are so many differences throughout the OC. I didn't even know of the pink and black girl on Mika's channel because I don't watch her that much LOL. (it was probably the style of the hair and accessories tbh)
Few people say tracing art is a good method to improve art skills like learning the correct technique, as long as there is a mention it was trace & credit the original artist

As a fellow artist I always take inspo from diffrent art style Aswell and make them unique! But ofc there will be that one person to say "oh your copying" so I'm glad this topic was put up to educate those people
I actually did experience this after updating my OC (mainly his skin tone that was inspired by Cyno) The OC I got accused of plagiarized is one of my OCs who had a white and purple aesthetic, They told me to kindly change it but doing so wouldn't make my own story plot line connected to what I've already made for the past year. I asked them to show their own OC and it didn't look as close to my own and there was nothing similar between them. It's only the hair and skin along with purple eyes, We even got inspired from different games and we just happen to have the same idea with our OCs (Mine's cuphead inspired while theirs is Undertale.) Their sister did sort it out because I did not know this person at all and they accused me of copying their OC. But the whole problem is fixed now, This video just reminded me of the experience-

They’re already sorting it out in discord, and yes, i thought that rei copied myo’s oc, but she would’ve had asked permission from myo to heavily have inspo on her oc. Though, its fine for me already; and theres no point in attacking rei because people are like “rei should quit” or “rei should change her oc” but thats probably in taking idea’s from myo’s oc. Even i thought at first that rei’s oc looked familiar, but we shouldn’t just hate on her for that like.. that’s absolutely wrong. People can change sometime’s and that include’s people like ryx, tally, kimiko, and etc. But that’s ok, plagarism/copying sometime’s may be accidental. People saying to rei like “go change ur oc” and she doesn’t want to, she already post a video with detail and about the drama, hopefully she dont grow up like the problematic gachatuber’s tho.
I saw many copied oc's before. So just slap everything that goes well and add color/name for them (That's what I do lmao 💀)

And I would look up other people's designs so I could copy them and make them. My own this happened a little But I learned to make my own designs and become my own self except for my Bolora. design.

Some of these are vents, but others literally show crimes and an edit of their character, wich looks like they're normalizing crimes, maybe not intetionally, but they are. I saw recently a 10 year old copycat that copies a person's videos multiple times since late 2022 to now. She's like copying 80% of the whole video but the rest 20% was abit of her own plot with her own Rip-off ocs from the original. They only recolor and making it to the kids artslyle. Every desc of her vids, she does credited the inspiration of her, and wrote: Heavily inspired by @(___). While the person she credited wrote the note in every desc of her vids: Do not get heavily inspired by my AMs/Stories. She doesn't know that the person made it with alot of effort. One of their recent videos was 9 minutes and they took 11 days to modify it. While that kid just took their vid and made it a 1 minute video the 80% of the same plot.
Ok idk why did I wrote this as and ex but its a real thing because not only gacha has that prob.

Im going to tell you a story what happened when 2023 started.
My friend saw my art that is more beautiful than her. She said she wanted a tutor of the body pose.
I taught her the body pose and next next next next days, she kept asking me "can you give me tutor how to draw that body pose/base?" I was really annoyed right now since im not either a teacher of art class like we already have one. Later in the breaktime, she asked me to draw the body pose/base instead of a tutor. I drawed her the body pose and write the watermark thing somewhere. Then, she cut my watermark and cute the other pieces. I asked her "wheres my watermark?" And she replied "oh sorry! I didnt know there was your watermark. I will write it later" She couldve have cutted the ones that looks broken then doing a square cut. In the breaktime, she forgot to write my watermark and i decided to write it. She asked me for the tipx and i gave her the thing. She return it to me and keeps drawing. I though she was doing the eye shading. Later at the breaktime (again) i saw my watermark has been erased with the tipx. I asked my friend "why did you erased my watermark?" And she ignored me. I asked her so many times and she said "shut up!" (I think?). I replied her the same thing she said and we both cried. The teacher found us crying and asked us to go to our teacher. We explained everything but i tried explaining it in my language (Indonesia) but instead, the teacher trust my friend. My teacher told me to forgive her and i said "no". My friends is patting me after school. I'll never accept her to do tutor/draw a base for her again. And i'll let my friend cry whenever i say no (sometimes/usually) like OMG WTHWE ARE ALMOST TEEN STOP CRYING FOR THINGS

This isn't regular art where, yes, similarities in oc design are inevitable, but this is a game with LIMITED OPTIONS. Somewhere, someplace, someone has a character that looks almost identical to yours, and It wasn't intentional.
Gacha Club has plenty of assets and colors, and MANY gacha tuber even create their own custom clothing as well as hair, face and accessories. But guess what? people even copy the custom assets. There is no excuse for copying
@@eyrus1 I'm not excusing copying though, there isn't an excuse, I'm just saying that sometimes "Plagiarising" isn't always a thing done on purpose, there's only so many ideas people can have before you find someone that's done something similar. Maybe I'm on the wrong side of the community but 70% of the accusations of copying I've seen were purely because some used a similar item or color palette (Sorry if I'm taking this the wrong way it's late and I'm very tired)

Idk I just felt like putting this out there, that art and media industries (and in this case, the gacha community) does rely on inspiration to thrive and create new, interesting content. Not saying copying is right though
Also the whole crediting your inspiration thing depends on the situation imo, if something is HEAVILY HEAVILY inspired by ONE OR TWO things then yes credit would be nice, but if it’s many different sources all kind of neatly pieced together, then I personally don’t see why I have to credit the 2939482 different sources I used
Honestly, tally keeps getting “inspo” from popular gacha ytubers and it’s giving them alot of attention. Like how they originally copied ryx’s oc and that’s how they got popular. I like tally, but this is a bit much regarding the whole oc thing.
I don't mean to be rude but I watch a lot of different artists with very different styles including the gachatubers but I personally dont really like your style and i think u should stick to gacha and commentary
