Plus the fact that when you reach adulthood, you usually would label stuff like this 'assault' rather than 'bullying'. But you are definitely right that siblings bully each other, and that older guys can be victims

from a social services/human services background: sibling bullying is often misunderstood as “roughhousing” instead of what it is: abuse. it’s normalized despite these behaviors often contributing to trust issues (because parents and other family members are passive), fear (knowing they won’t be protected, and shame (due to the stigma around sibling bullying, especially if it is coming from a younger sibling). when ryan goes through the house and shows all the different times he’s been attacked, it’s important to be aware of our own biases. would we react differently if alan was the older sibling? if a partner was experiencing this from their partner? it’s sounds like he was genuinely worried about the next time he’d be targeted, feeling ashamed, and likely helpless because no one seemed to care. it’s just unfortunate that ten years later people are making the same jokes they did then.

Nick has the energy/look of James Potter so he's a common fancast in the fandom:) hope this was a good explanation
Bullying does have long lasting effects on adulthood. So I would’ve have a handful of consideration of the feelings that they express at such an older age. Especially the guy with the scar, as it must’ve been a core memory for him. That being said, I don’t think any past bullying or trauma should be resolved with fist fights but rather to be a better and mature individuals from the suffering that we are put in.

I do agree that violence and abuse from siblings is a serious issue, but I think both of them weren't taking it seriously because this is a reality tv show. None of it is real, and any grains of truth that end up in the shows are usually heavily edited and out of context. This whole shows's premise is a mockery of actual problems, so I think its a bit unfair to expect Nick and Saji to take it seriously.

lol i knew a whole potter family when i was in high school. they were super religious, the irony of it all (yes they did have a son named james if i recall correctly. idk there were lots of them)

Also, Mayhem Miller was always KNOWN for being high energy and the fans loved it, that’s why he was chosen for this show. Very sadly he has been doing extremely badly in the years since. Serious drug addiction coupled with what will almost certainly one day be found to have been CTE have lead to a much more problematic - and dangerous - Mayhem Miller. Prison time, serious assault charges, being found drunk and naked in a church he had broken into... things have not been going well for him. It’s kind of it’s own little tragedy; in one episode of Beatdown he played the role of the fighter, and the absolute joy he bought to the ring was on full display. He really loved what he did. (It was also one of the episodes where the fighter won; there have been episodes where the bully winds up winning against the pro). A lot of the show was absolutely staged. However, I think a large part of its popularity was catharsis. Victims of bullying enjoyed imagining a reality where someone stuck up for them, and their bully got a taste of their own medicine. It’s the same reason so many victims of CSA love the artistic style of MamaMax; sometimes it can be helpful to take a little mental break to a place where the people who abuse get what’s coming to them.

Yeah, that didn't sit right with me either; as someone who is just starting to catch on to (and like) Saji's channel and vibe, and who has watched Nick's videos for a while, that comment made me uncomfortable and sad. Maybe the guy is Jewish with Israeli heritage, or just has Israeli heritage in general (not necessarily even Jewish); he has every right to wear his flag. He's wearing two flags, in fact (I can't remember what the other one is) - why does the Israeli flag immediately brand him and prompt such a comment, but not the other one? And they had to edit the video and choose to leave that in; this was a conscious choice - they thought it was funny enough, or perhaps relatable enough, or maybe even signaled their "progressive" values enough, to keep it in the final cut. I could say a lot of things and talk a lot about why, but suffice to say for now (to minimize discourse in the comments) I was made very uncomfortable and upset by the remark. I came to the comments to find others who felt similarly, and I'm glad I found at least two! It was so offhand and like "of course, Israel = the villains of the world! Of course he has that flag because he sucks! He supports the villains!" (in the least political terms) And then the remark afterwards about getting into a political discussion - how come the Israeli flag specifically has to prompt a comment about politics, but not the other flag he's wearing? Maybe the guy is Jewish with Israeli heritage, or just has Israeli heritage in general (not necessarily even Jewish); he has every right to wear his flag. He's wearing two flags, in fact (I can't remember what the other one is) - why does the Israeli flag immediately brand him and prompt such a comment, but not the other one? And they had to edit the video and choose to leave that in; this was a conscious choice - they thought it was funny enough, or perhaps relatable enough, or maybe even signaled their "progressive" values enough, to keep it in the final cut.
I could say a lot of things and talk a lot about why, but suffice to say for now (to minimize discourse in the comments) I was made very uncomfortable and upset by the remark. I came to the comments to find others who felt similarly, and I'm glad I found at least two!
It was so offhand and like "of course, Israel = the villains of the world! Of course he has that flag because he sucks! He supports the villains!" (in the least political terms)
And then the remark afterwards about getting into a political discussion - how come the Israeli flag specifically has to prompt a comment about politics, but not the other flag he's wearing? (Another question I can absolutely answer but will just leave here for people to think on, if they happen to see this.)

Wearing the flag of a currently existing state will, more often than not, be interpreted as expressing support of that state, no matter how long before its existence the flag was in use. Especially when this state is infamous for kinda sorta doing a genocide rn, that will be what people first think of when they see said flag. Also, to expect the level of nuance y'all are engaging in from a commentary yt vid about an old mtv show is delusional.
